The contact owns a 2013 Ford fusion energi. While the vehicle was stopped in a parking lot, the stop safely now warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to latrobe Ford (located at 1595 mission rd, latrobe, PA 15650, (724) 537-7723) where it was diagnosed that the trans inductor module needed to be replaced due to a short circuit in the transmission. The vehicle was scheduled to be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.
The vehicle no longer accelerates under battery power. Time delay in acceleration due to decreased battery power, causing a safety issue.

I was driving right before entering the highway when my brakes suddenly went out and the service advanctrac and power steering lights came on. I stopped my car at the light and proceeded to turn it off and then back on. The problem seems to have went away; however, this is not the first time this has happened.

I lost power while on the freeway to about 40 mph from 65 mph, many indicators flashed: "see manual", "pre-collision assist not available", "service advance track", "downhill assist not available", the check engine light was on as well as the airbag light, I got off the freeway, turned the car off then on again, looked to see if for some reason it was in "l". I ended up getting to my destination, it sat for 2 hours then I started the car again, (because the tow truck was taking too long) and it seemed fine. I drove it short distances the next day, it was still fine (ck engine light still on btw) but after going 20 miles it did it again! low power, lots of different indications of errors. I also noticed the engine seem to stay at a high rpm at a stop light, prior to this it seemed like it wasn't shifting like it should. (it was taking too long to downshift, not sure if it is because I was driving my other powerful and loud car recently). At the dealer they said it was the abs relay and needed to be replaced. I have had the car for almost 3 months, it is a 2017 and it was certified used at the Ford dealership. They are re-calibrating the other relays/switches and the abs is still creating a problem. They are replacing it which is good because I wouldn't feel safe if it wasn't going to be replaced.
The warning light came on for the throttle control/powertrain malfunction. The vehicle jerks forward as soon as I take my foot off the brake. If I put it in reverse, the vehicle jerks backward without me hitting the gas. The vehicle was just turning into a parking garage when this occurred.
My 2014 Ford fusion had motor mounts go out on it, I'm being told that it is not covered under my manufacturer warranty. I'm not exactly sure how that is not covered. I've had nothing but problems with this car it's been to the dealer probably about 53 of the five times it's been in for the cross traffic s I'm not exactly sure how that is not covered. I've had nothing but problems with this car it's been to the dealer probably about 53 of the five times it's been in for the cross traffic sensor malfunction and yet again it still is showing malfunction I am so close to filing a lemon law on this vehicle it's a 2014 with 60,000 miles and I can't even trust it to get me to and from work anymore. Worst purchase of my life. Back to the motor mounts I was leaving work put the car in reverse and when I was backing up I felt a major vibration I got out and checked everything started rocking the car back-and-forth by hand and realize the engine was moving abruptly took it to the dealer where I was told it is not covered by my warranty and I will have to pay approximately $395 and cover my own rental car it just doesn't seem fair, also had to pay to have a new steering wheel and but put on before the recall came out, and was told I can't get reimbursed because it was 6 months before the recall was issued.

Safely stop now displayed on the message center left screen with no prior warning. The car immediately started to loose acceleration speed on jefferson avenue and I was able to pull off the road after exiting the interstate I 64 onto the main road of 45 mph speed limit. The car automatically reduced speed to 25 mph to 2 mph. I parked the car in a nearby car dealership parking lot and had to have the car towed to the dealership as of July 27th and have not received a return call to find out what is causing this dangerous situation that could have caused a major accident if I was on the interstate and could not pull over safely.
Shifter bushing cable - this part broke off from my vehicle back in July. The bushing connects shifter arm to transmission. Without this piece, my vehicle needs assistance to complete every single shift. When attempting to move from park to drive, I have to get out of my vehicle, open the hood, place the shifter down on the transmission arm, then shift the cart. To go from drive to park, I have to engage the parking break, get out of the car, pop the hood, reattach the shifter arm, then shift the car. This issue has been ongoing since July 2018 with no notice from Ford on when the replacement part will be available. This specific part is not sold on the aftermarket either, meaning that I do not have any way to fix my car and thus have to deal with the issue every single time I drive the car. I'm very concerned that all of this shifting and opening and closing of my hood is causing long-term damage to the car (that Ford would most likely not fix). I have called Ford over 8 times to complain and have received no eta on parts, no other way to fix the issue, nor any compensation/help towards me being able to use my car. Recall was issued on July 20th, 2018; over 3 months later, no replacement part has been provided.

Auto shuts down while driving,no power. . Must stop, shut off ignition and restart the engine. . . Car seems to revert to normal after turning back on. Has occured many times. . Local Ford dealer is aware of problem and has installed a counter. . The counter clocks up when this occurs but resets when car is stopped and restarted. . . This is a potentially dangerous problem as this has happened in traffic and driver has no power, must pull out of traffic, restart and go again. . .
While driving, the car's dashboard indicates a powertrain fault (via amber wrench symbol). Car seems to go into a limp home mode that has symptoms of grabby brakes and lower fuel economy. Car has also stalled out while driving, losing all power, and requires the operator to fully stop, shift the car into park, turn off the car, turn the car back on, and then shift back into drive before the operator can continue driving. Extremely unsafe because the vehicle rapidly decelerates and there is no warning prior to the car stalling. The powertrain warning light originally occurred on 15jun2018 while leaving work and travelling at about 25 mph when the light turned on. It stayed lit the entire drive home (about 50 miles) and was steady for speeds ranging from stopped to about 70 mph. During this episode, the car did not stall. On 18jun2018, while leaving work, the car once again illuminated the powertrain warning, but then immediately stalled and I drifted to the edge of the road. I stopped the car, put it in park, turned the car off and back on, and then put it back into drive, where it functioned, but with the powertrain warning illuminated. I drove home at speeds ranging from stopped to 70 mph, but when I exited the highway at my city, on the surface streets the car stalled out 2 more times with no warning, leaving me to put on my hazards and quickly try to restart the motor. Car had just under 5000 miles on the odometer when this first occurred. Car is a Ford Fusion Hybrid 2018.

After 100,000 mile checkup, when rpms are raised wrenches appear on dashboard and car won't go above 2,000 rpm. This results in a dangerous loss of power on hills and the freeway. Error code p2112, throttle body failure. This close is covered by a throttle body replacement under customer satisfaction program 13n03 however this is not honored for hybrid fusions.
While driving uphill. My car lost power and could only go approximately 40 mph. The powertrain warning light came on. This happened 6 times over a week or two. It was due to an electronic throttle body failure and the repair cost over $500. The next day I found out Ford has a customer satisfaction program #13n03 to replace this known defective part in Ford fusions and other models. The warranty for the electronic throttle body was extended to 10 years and 150,000 miles. My car is 8 years old and has under 100,000 miles. I called Ford and after speaking to a representative and a supervisor, was told Fusion Hybrids are not included in the customer satisfaction program. The electronic throttle body in my Fusion Hybrid is the exact same part that is in the fusion that is covered in the program. It is the exact same defective part in my hybrid that caused the sudden loss of power that has been deemed a safety issue necessitating the customer satisfaction program. If a defective part is known to cause a safety issue and the warranty on a part is extended due to the safety issue, then that safety issue applies to all models that have the known defective part. To exclude a particular model that contains the defective part from the customer satisfaction program, is to minimize the safety of certain citizens. Given Ford's selective corrective action to address this known safety issue, I believe a recall on this part is necessary.
Steering wheel recall. Constant stop safely now prompt causing the car to be unsafe on the highway. If I drive for an hour or more this begins happening at speeds over 60 miles per hour.
After filling up my tank, I proceeded to exit out of a quiktrip parking lot, back onto the street, when my brakes failed to stop the car. Luckily enough, this did not cause an accident and I was able to pull the car over in a nearby parking lot. After pulling over the service advancetrac light came on, in addition to the check brake system light. I checked the fluids, which all seemed to be fine. However, the brakes would not stop the vehicle unless pressed completely to the floor. This drastically affected the stop time which would definitely lead to an increased risk of an accident. I ended up having to get the vehicle towed as I did not want to risk driving it home.
At random while car is on at any time and any speed (parked and just turned on, at a red light, driving on freeway or city driving, turning or driving straight. ) rear parking aid is disabled with light turned on, airbag lights turn on, service advance trac light turns on, the power steering goes out all the same time. Then randomly turns off and drives normal again at anytime ( shortly after the problem occurs, sometimes it stays on an entire drive 1hr+ even if parked and turned car completely off and on again) this has been brought into the deal multiple times with it occurring again shortly after being "fixed".
Driving at 45 mph and car shut down driving on city street. Safety warning popped up that said stop safely now. Car coasted to side of the road and had to be towed to dealership.
Car was making a roughing sound while driving when in p or n no sound took I took it to dealer they could not find a problem 3000 mile later they said it the transmission it would cost us $11,000 to repair need to know if this is happening to any other owners.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While driving, the vehicle inadvertently began to shake violently and lost power. The was able to pull the vehicle over and the power train fault and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to prestige Ford (17701 us-441, mt dora, FL 32757 (352) 357-5522) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body power train malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Starting July 2017 I noticed that my the gasoline engine of Fusion Hybrid had developed a noticeably "rough" idle when it came on. It also ran "rough" and had an uneven throttle response. A yellow wrench would also appear occasionally on the display panel. The owners manual indicated a "throttle control/powertrain malfunction"and recommended contacting the authorized dealer. Bill collins Ford in louisville ,ky checked and ran diagnostics but could not find anything wrong. On September 25, while driving to work in the morning the car experienced a sudden drastic drop in speed going from about 65mph to about 30mph. The car become unresponsive to the throttle. The gasoline engine had completely shut down and the car was limping along powered by the electric engine. Both the wrench and the check engine indicators lit up on the display and stayed on. Luckily I made it off the expressway and got to work. This was very scary and I was lucky to not be rear ended or crashing the car. When I attempted to restart after about three hours the the gasoline engine came back on but with a very "rough" idle. I was able to drive the car to the dealership. This time they diagnosed a problem with the electronic throttle body and for about $600 replaced the etb, cleaned the "mass air flow sensor" and "reprogrammed the computer". However, the the car continues to idle "rough" and has poor throttle response, which were issues the car had leading into the loss of power on the expressway. The dealership does not know how to fix this problem and claims to be in touch the Ford factory engineers to find a solution. There is no response so far. Searching on the internet, I understand this is a known issue with Ford fusions particularly the 2010 model year. Nhtsa mandated a recall problem for 2010 fusions gasoline engines but not hybrid models!.
While under normal operation at highway speed (65-70mph with cruise control on) the car alerted me to an error ("service advancetrac") and immediately deactivated: cruise control, traction control, emergency brake assist, and a couple other systems. The check engine light also came on. The car was unable to maintain speed and began losing power. I was able to safely pull the car over to the shoulder of the highway and turn the vehicle on and off twice, the alerts and check engine light persisted through the vehicle restarts. I was able to accelerate and merge back into traffic; however, the maximum speed I was able to maintain was exactly 50mph and I think that may have only been under battery power provided by the hybrid battery system (I. E. , electric drive), since no engine noise was apparent while trying to maintain speed. I was able to park at a gas station and call Ford road side service. I have an automatic adapter on the car and the adaptor reported the error code p2112 throttle actuator "a" control system-stuck closed. The same error code was also found by the Ford dealer, which repaired the error under warranty.

Vehicle did a hard stall in the middle of an intersection on three separate occasions. It completely shut off with no warning. The first two incidents happened in the space of a few minutes. After the first incident the car was turned back on and there was no indication anything was wrong. Continued to try and drive it a short distance to get back to the parking lot. It than stalled again turning into the parking lot and a battery light came on. Battery was replaced but the vehicle stalled again a few weeks later during a turn with oncoming traffic. No warning, it jerked hard than just shut off. I'm not sure at this time what is causing it to stall. It seems to be happening when switching from battery power to engine power while making turns. Leaving the car stuck in the middle of the intersection with no engine power, power brakes or steering and oncoming traffic.
We have brought Ford in for the 5th time due to the car not powering up. Most recently, the car appeared to have power issues and it put itself into reverse while we were driving. We then lost all power. This created a very hazardous situation. Ford is aware of the issue.
Vehicle has 34,900 miles and now experiencing a powertrain warning light after driving at 55 mph for 8 miles. Vehicle is 'missing' and loosed power down to 35-40 mph. Pulled off and turned off engine and the light stayed off for one day and came back on and lost power again after about the same distance on highway. Afraid to drive on highway. Trying to get to the dealer.
Car suddenly looses power at highway speed. Diagnosed as throttle body failure and replaced by dealer. Ford covers non hybrid models with replacement at n/c to owners but excludes hybrid coverage for same part on same ice engine with same symptoms. Sudden loss of power at highway speeds is extremely dangerous esp in urban traffic situation and this should be a mandatory recall.
While driving my car enter the "limp home" program. Researched and called Ford direct and was told that because my car is a hyrbid model that it is not covered under their customer service satisfaction even though it is under mileage and the years for Ford to cover this malfunction.
I pulled my car into a parking spot, using the brake pedal to stop the vehicle and position it in the spot. I removed the key from the ignition and exited the vehicle, assuming the vehicle was in park because I had been able to remove the key from the ignition. Unfortunately, the car was not in park--but was still in drive mode. The car slowly rolled backwards, hitting another parked vehicle behind it. In subsequent attempts to repeat the issue, I was able to remove the key from the ignition when the car was in drive mode--both when the car was stopped and when it was in motion. Ford has failed to address the situation, despite my outreach to their legal department. When I took the vehicle to a Ford repair center, they tried to charge me upwards of $400 for what is clearly a serious vehicle malfunction.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle decelerated and the power train warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to repair the throttle body; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not part of a recall and was outside of the extended warranty due to the vehicle being a hybrid. The contact was inquiring about reimbursement eligibility. The failure mileage was 37,500.
Driving on a highway my car went from 65 mph to 30-35 unexpectedly. It would not respond to the gas peddle at all and a large orange wrench icon appeared on dashboard. Luckily I was able to get to the shoulder and restart the car. I called Ford and was told this was a known issue but a recall was not issued due to it being a "non critical" issue. They also said this particular issue was tested on the hybrid model but not found to be a problem. They told me Ford did offer an extended warranty for this issue for non-hybrid Ford fusions, but since I was a hybrid owner I was out of luck. I had to pay $400 to have my car repaired for their known issue. When I called Ford customer support I was treated very rudely and was told that "the NHTSA did a thorough investigation and the hybrid was not found to have this issue and that this particular issue was not critical". It's not critical now since no one got killed/hurt. It was luck I was able to get off the highway without issue. I'm now afraid to drive this car for fear this will happen again. I hope something is done about this before someone does get hurt or worse as a result of this "non critical" issue. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. While driving various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate normally and was very sluggish. The power train warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. After restarting the vehicle, the failure would go away, but would recur shortly afterwards. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.
The driver-side interior door latch stop working and I couldn't get out of the car! this malfunction happened in a very mundane manner. As I was doing regular errands, in and out of the car on Friday, August 5, 2016, on my third errand stop, the door latch broke. I really didn't notice a "snap" or any kind of "breaking sound. " I don't know if the break occurred while I was driving or not. I was stopped/parked in shopping center parking lot when I noticed this problem. At first I panicked and was quite afraid. I called my boyfriend and he calmed me down and instructed me on how to simply roll down (electric) window and reach out and then open door from exterior. Then, he told me to roll window up by leaving ignition on and. This worked. So I been using my car like this until I could get it fixed. I did some research and learned of the thousands of door latch recalls on other Ford fusion models. When I called Ford they said my model year, 2010, is not included in the recall. I will only have to pay $100 deductible because repair is covered under extended warranty. I don't think I should have to pay anything since Ford knows they are having various door latch msl functions. This is my complaint. I close by saying that I have really loved my Ford Fusion Hybrid and considering getting newer or new model. However, I believe, given the thousands of problems with door latches, given the safety issues, Ford should replace them all. There is no attachment as a photo wouldn't demonstrate the malfunction.
July 29, 2016 driving home from work I was driving uphill when I noticed the car losing power, no amount of pushing down on the accelerator made a difference. The car did not stall but it could not gain momentum. The service engine light came on. I had to stop in the right lane because there was no shoulder and the engine had started making a very loud/rough sound. I waited 5 min and started the car again. Everything looked fine, the indicator light had cleared and engine sounded normal. I drove the rest of the way home without incident. Over the weekend the car operated normally. On Monday 8/1/2016 on my way to work the problem started again. The car remained operational but couldn't go more than 20-30 mph. The hybrid battery would drain very quickly and the regeneration motor ran constantly and sometime very rough. I managed to drive it to my mechanic. His diagnostic report showed a p2112 code (throttle body stuck closed). He proposed cleaning the valve as a first step but he didn't think that would fix the problem. We tried that but two days later the problem came back. My mechanic advised that while he could replace the etb, he was not equipped to calibrate it and that only Ford could do this work. He also told me that while researching the problem he'd come across information that my problem might be covered by an extended warranty. I called Ford about the extended warranty and they told me that hybrids are not covered by the warranty. It seems to me that NHTSA dropped the ball on this if the same problem is happening to hybrid owners as is to non-hybrid owners for vehicle models of the same years. My vehicle had about 58,700 miles when trouble started. No one I spoke to at Ford could tell me why hybrids are not covered by the etb extended warranty. Seems to me NHTSA needs to re-open their investigation on this issue!.
Sudden power steering shutoff. I was driving out of my parking lot when the steering wheel got very stiff I couldn't turn the car and I almost hit the car next to me. I tried turning the car on and off to clear the error since there is not apparent cause to the issue. According to my research, there is a recall for this problem for many Ford models but the 2010 fusions aren't included.
Driving from dallas to austin and with about 60 miles left, the yellow wrench warning light came on in the car. I pulled over as soon as I could to see what the light indicated. The manual said it was a throttle control power train malfunction. I turned off the car and waited a bit. When I turned the car on, the light did not come on again, but I am concerned the car will become un-drivable. I see that this is a common problem. . . Too common. Is there a recall yet?.
