As of today my 2006 Mustang has 58,953 miles on it and it is on it¿s third alternator. The first one failed at around the 56,000 mile mark and was replaced. My friend and I had traveled about 60 miles n from sacramento to an area between alta and dutch flats and I had turned off the ac and put the windows down. I heard a strange crackling sound and I pulled over about a half a mile afterwards and shut off the engine, we smelled something burning and lifted up the hood. And that was the end of the 2nd alternator it had lasted about 1600 miles. The sparks that were shooting out of the alternator looked like a 4th of July sparkler, and we¿re stranded in the middle of nowhere. And i¿m on the 3rd alternator with less than 59000 miles. Two months later maybe 600 more miles and water from the split in the wiper cowling runs into the car which went unnoticed for several days. I had standing water in the front passenger floor board and some in the rear as well. My repair estimate of almost $600. 00, plus a rental car and not including pulling the carpet and heating the floorboard as rust prevention. My feeling is it¿s not over yet as I have read a lot of the other complaints from people with the same issue. I have noticed the engine has started to crank like it might not start. Ford posts record profits all the while refusing to acknowledge the financial hardship to loyal consumers who just wanted to own their pretty Mustang, and paid well for it. We are real, we have lives that are affected by this in real and meaningful ways. . . . . . . Help us! listen to us, for every person that found their way to this web site and posted their complaint their are hundreds out there with the same problems who aren¿t even aware of this process. We haven¿t gone out and caused this damage to our cars, we are not at fault and we deserve remediation. Please help.
My 2006 Mustang gt has been in the service department three times within 2 months time. When you make a left or right turn there is a grinding sound. They have installed 2 clutch packs (kit-axle dif, 3 gear and pinions, and a new flange. I know it is not the way the vehicle is driven. It was bought new in March 2006 and it only has 7000 miles on it and this is February 2007. The car is not "beat" at all. If these vehicles are supposed to be high performance vehicles. Could you imagine what would happen if the "rear end" was to lock up? am I the only one having this problem? also there is a ticking sound that sounds like the valves are rattling, there is a TSB on the valves but dealership says that is not the problem. I only use bp and amoco gas, the gas that is preferred for the vehicle.
Our Ford Mustang gt that was purchased for our 17 yr old daughter was purchased 2-21-2006 it had its first problems at 629 miles on 3-4-2006 the dealership replaced some followers and some lifters and some camshaft parts. We've been told all should be replaced the whole bank. Dealer won't do anything about it car started smoking a week later and making ticking noise again. Dealer said it didn't do it there so nothing was done. Next, car started hesitating after driving on hwy couple hrs. Dealership replaced fuel pump and gear box was hot and rattling so they replaced it. Then car accelerated on its own from 50 to 90 miles hr. Dealership couldn't find anything that was at 8300 miles now at 9700 miles car has taking off again from 40 to 80 when our daughter put it in neutral and coast to side of road our daughter and her friends are to afraid to drive it now and its been at dealership for 2 full weeks also the paint on the passenger rear fender is bubbling off the car. Someone is going to get hurt, probably already have died but know one has checked into it. Sorry about wording you only get 2000 words to describe everything. Like you really want to know if your restricting the amount of words.
