The engine shuts off while driving after it heats up. This has happened several times in these last couple of months after purchasing the used vehicle. I took it to the dealership to fix. They replaced O2 sensors and I got it back last night and today I was driving on the freeway when the car just shut off on me again and the rpms dropped to zero. I was able to pull the car off to the side safely. I put the car in park and restarted it. I drove for about a minute or two and it shut off again, so again I pulled over and restarted the car. This happened about three or four times before I was able to reach my final destination.
I have a 2006 Mustang with only 7500 miles on it and I have owned it now for about two weeks. Today I was driving on a residential street and the engine just turned off. I pulled the car over to the side and turned the car back on and it was fine. I drove home with no issues. I was almost on the interstate when this happened and it could have been very dangerous. If you complete a google search on 2006-2009 Mustangs, this issue seems to be listed several times. When the engine shut off, I checked all the fluids in the car and they were all fine. It did not sound like their was an issue with the engine; this seems more like a glitch in the system, something that Ford should recall and fix. Because the engine was turned off, the steering was hard to control, if I was going at a faster speed, I may not have been able to pull the car over to the side of the interstate. This could have created a serious accident.
