My car is at the service department at planet Ford in spring, TX. I noticed a smell of gasoline and took the vehicle in for inspection when I had the passenger airbag recall done. I special ordered the vehicle in the spring of 2009 through their dealership from Ford. The vehicle currently has very low mileage, 28,000. The service manager informed me that the gas tank is coming apart at the seam and that I would need to pay $3000 to replace the tank. I called Ford customer care with my safety concerns and requested they send a representative to planet Ford to inspect the tank for defect and what may have caused it. They told me the Ford service manager at planet Ford would have to do that. When I told my service rep at planet Ford what customer care said, the Ford rep/technician denied that they could do that and offered me know further help with escalating my concerns to Ford. I want Ford to see if there was something different with my custom order at their factory that caused it? I want Ford to come and see what they built and sold me and to note the safety hazards to my life. I understand it's not under warranty. It makes no sense to me that the shrapnel in their defective airbags were more important to them than a defective gas tank that's coming apart at the seam and off-gassing badly. The gas fumes are very toxic and volatile and could cause an explosion or give me cancer. For the longest time, I thought the fumes were normal, since that Mustang has the cap-less gas tank and I was associating the odor near the rear area where I filled-up. It took friends and family telling me 'no, that smell is not normal. " and that it urgently needs to be assessed.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall out multiple times soon after start up as the engine and service tire mobility kit warning lights would appear on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that white smoke would intermittently emit from the rear exhaust pipe while driving at high rates of speed. She also stated that the same warning light would appear on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he diagnosed the vehicle with a defective fuel tank pressure sensor. The contact then called henry curtis Ford(1120 auto center dr, petaluma, CA 94952) where they informed her that the vehicle was no longer under warranty or on recall. The contact was then offered a diagnostic fee which she decline. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and gave her the same information as the dealer;they offered no further assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. While operating the vehicle, the odor of fuel was present inside and outside of the vehicle. The contact also indicated that the vehicle was designed using no fuel cap. While operating the vehicle, the fuel tank door would randomly open and expose the fuel opening. In addition, oil was discovered leaking from the engine. No further information was available. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 4,000.
I smelled strong gasoline odors while driving from work. The car had been filled with fuel recently. The fuel tank is leaking near the fill tube. Further research into this issue has shown that it is a common occurrence with this model. The car cannot be filled above half full or gasoline leaks all over the back of the car and on the ground once parked. This leak is too near the exhaust pipe for safety. Ford does not repair this safety issue under any recall. It is a cheap part but labor is very expensive since the fuel tank must be removed to replace the leak. This is a manufacturing issue and Ford should be required to repair it free of charge.

Fuel filler neck leaks. This occurs directly over the hot exhaust pipe of the vehicle. The gasoline drips directly on the exhaust pipe under the bend. And next to the gas tank. This is a very dangerous situation as I had a long way to go home and didn't have any water to wash the hot pipes of fuel. The gas continued to drip on the pipe most of the way home. My kids could have been in the back seat if the car caught fire. I have read that this is a common problem on 2000 Mustangs. This should be a recalled problem.
