The vehicle jolts when placed from park or reverse to drive after being driven 30 or more minutes or driving 10+ miles. I had previously sent it to 3 different dealerships and only one was able to temporarily resolve the issue. They had to adjust the issue through a computer system. However, after 6-12 months, it is happening again. I feel that is a property or safety issue for drivers because, the transmission or shift change makes the vehicle jump forward and if not carefully could possibly hit another vehicle or person that passes through the front side of the vehicle.

While entering an on-ramp and just before merging onto the freeway the vehicle failed to accelerate and I lost complete power from the engine. The vehicle was still powered on, but produced no combustion from the engine. The check engine light illuminated and a message appeared on the dash stating to shift the vehicle into neutral. I pulled off on the shoulder and shifted the vehicle into park. I shut the vehicle off and started it back up. After doing so I had full power once again. This is the sixth time this has happened.

My 2021 Ford Mustang ecoboost is currently experiencing an ongoing issue with the evap purge valve, a critical emissions component. The vehicle suffers from stuttering, rough idle, and a check engine light, especially immediately after refueling, where the engine has stalled multiple times—posing a serious safety risk during traffic re-entry and acceleration. The purge valve has not been replaced, and the issue remains unresolved. I contacted Ford customer relations and three separate Ford dealerships, all of which refused to service the vehicle under warranty, despite the fact that it is still covered under the federal emissions warranty (8 years/80,000 miles) and the powertrain warranty. This refusal contradicts federal warranty guidelines, as the purge valve is clearly part of the evaporative emissions control system. The failure disrupts vapor flow and fuel trim stability, leading to erratic engine behavior and emissions system malfunction. I previously owned another Ford Mustang ecoboost while living in a different part of the state, and that vehicle experienced the exact same purge valve issue, including stalling after refueling and triggering the check engine light. This recurring failure across multiple vehicles suggests a design flaw or supplier defect that Ford has failed to address. There are hundreds of documented complaints and videos online, including on youtube and Mustang forums, showing other owners experiencing the same purge valve failure and warranty denial. This suggests a systemic issue that Ford is aware of but continues to ignore. I believe this issue warrants investigation for warranty non-compliance, emissions system reliability, and potential recall consideration due to the safety and environmental risks involved.

Car jerking,rpm needle jumps alot,feel like im going to run into someone or something, not getting gas mileage like before.

The vehicle is leaking fuel profusely right next to the passenger side exhaust pipe. The fuel is coming out of the fuel tank where the plastic is crimped go the fuel vent valve.

Vehicle is 2016 garage kept, just under 18,000 miles. Check engine light is on. Code scanner indicates egr leak. Egr valve replaced, check engine light reset. No code for about 3 weeks. Started getting gas filler warnings and check engine light back on again egr issue. Getting ready for a road trip took vehicle to Ford to troubleshoot check engine light. Identified problem as a cracked fuel tank near where the filler connects. I researched what I can on-line and others have this same issue. Wondering if this is a defect?.

Ford did issue a recall for several issues for my car, including but not limited to, problems when filling gas tank with evaporative purge system as well as cavitation of the fuel pump in high heat conditions, the doors not closing all the way or handles remaining open( not flush with rest of door) when door is shut, driver's side door trim/bezel around power window switch making buzzing sounds when stereo is in use, as well as ticking sounds coming from motor during operation and various creaks and sounds from front suspension when cornering and going over uneven terrain, and the transmission, the 5r55s, has the known hard shift into gear caused by bad servo. I have reached out to the dealers in my area regarding these issues and even though my car is the correct model and year for the service recall bulletins and has the exact issues described there in, I am told that the VIN on my car is not covered even though it is clearly suffering from equipment that exhibits all the same problems listed in the recall. I feel the responsibility to perform and pay for these repairs should fall on the manufacturer, not I, the customer.

Gas tank does not fill properly. Gas back feeds up the tube and all over the car. To fill gas tank it takes about 30min pumping a few cents at a time.

This is the 3rd recall no counting issue that did no include recall. One of the fuel injectors stop working and caused my car to stop while running. Without warning of fuel injector not working, my car would be hestiate to accerate and when I got the warning, I was informed to not drive the car because it would cause a wreck or without warning stop. My alert went off that my air quality inside the car was dangerous and to return the vechicle ASAP to ensure my safety. I have had my car in the dealership 6 times and one of the recalls can not be fixed at this time which causes my steering system to turn opposite directions and warned that it was in danger of wrecking. Not only does the problems could harm myself but as well as innocent drivers on the road. I have been with Ford since 2006 and never have I experienced such suffering. I am a teacher and not having transporation or taking off of work has cost me over 2000. 00 and I havent even had my a year when the issues staring happening. Ford corporation will not ensure my safety under the lemon law, and I have had to go without the ability to support myself as well as my elderly mother. I was involved in a wreck 4 days after the car was a year old and was found at fault as I tried to stop, it car inch up by by 2 feet. I had to pay two thousand for a deductible and then my insurance was charged for used parts on my car. Ford corporation ask me not to contact my insurance but informed me that they are no a direct car repair shop but it is represent as a collosion center with the Ford name. My tires were not driveable at 21, 000 miles but was told that they were suppose to last 26, 000 miles. They were provided from Ford itself. They then put recalled tires on the car which cause me to lose traction and I could not even get them rotated with a mileage under 21,000. Currently my car has 26,000 miles and I have been put at risk on many malfunction of the car.

Filling gas tank is a nightmare, the first batch of the newly remodeled vehicle. When filling it it'll pump for 3 seconds and then click off and shoot gas out because it thinks it's full so you have to click it on the lowest possible setting. It's a 16 gallon tank and if it's completely empty the first eight gallons will pump fine anything over that because of the way the tank is shaped is where the airlock is and that's when you can barely touch the gas lever before it clicks off and shoots gas up it takes me 20 minutes to fill up so anything before the half a tank mark will fill normally but once it's over half a tank is when the problem arises. From all of the forums that I've looked at for this new remodeled 2005 year this was a common problem and the Mustangs built for the first 6 months and judging by the belt date mine was in March so far well within the first 6 months. When I pulled out the extra gas that dripped onto the ground caught on fire so I had to jump out and luckily I had a fire extinguisher in my trunk but that was terrifying because I'm at a gas station and the whole thing could have went up in flames.

The following problem happened to me a few years ago (twice within a couple of months) and again, 2 days ago. Each time I was standing at a traffic light when all of a sudden it accelerated at full throttle. I practically stood on the brake pedal, but the car was inching forward, as I put the transmission into park. This was not a subtle situation, it was dangerous. The engine went from idle to screaming within 2 seconds. I ruled out the floor mat as it was in the proper position and snapped into the floor. It did not cause any warning lights to come on. In may, I had the oil changed, at which time they suggested that they clean the throttle body, which they did. They never heard of the above problem.

While attempting to accelerate at an intersection, the vehicle lurched forward. The gas peddle stopped working completely, leaving my vehicle stranded in the middle of the intersection with traffic coming from both directions. The engine was not revving when the gas peddle was being pushed. After repeatedly slamming on the gas peddle, the vehicle quickly accelerated forward, fishtailed, and sent me into oncoming traffic, very narrowly avoiding an accident.

I have a 2008 Ford Mustang with a v-6 engine. Recently I had to jump start it twice in a week's time to get it started and decided to take it to my dealer to have the battery checked. On the way there, I had to stop for a line of line of traffic at a red light. The instant I applied the brakes the engine started racing. I stood on the brakes as hard as I could, but could not bring the car to a complete stop. I got it slowed down to about three mph, steered it into a parking lot that was next to me, and shoved it into park. I was afraid to drive it, so I called aaa and had it towed to my dealer. I told them how the engine started to race when I applied the brakes, and that I couldn't bring the car to a complete stop. They wrote it up that the engine started running rough when I applied the brakes. That is not what I told them. They made no written reference to the unintended acceleration. This struck me as odd. Their analysis of the vehicle showed that the master cylinder and brake power booster had failed. They told me that sometimes when these components fail they can cause the engine to rev. My engine more than revved, it sounded like it was racing at full throttle. The incident shook me up quite a bit. It also seemed odd to me that two major brake components would fail at the same time. I had gotten new front and read brake pads earlier in the years and no other brake issues were discovered. Though the car has been repaired and seems to be ok, I'm somewhat skittish about driving it. I'm aware that there was a class action law suit filed against Ford in 2013 for 2002-2010 Ford vehicles claiming unintended acceleration. Though the suit was dismissed, I'm worried that the problem still exists. I know for a fact that my foot was fully on the brake pedal, and that the floor mat played no role in this issue. I had no similar issues with the car in the fifteen years prior.

Check engine light keeps coming on even after dealer says it is fixed. Keeps throwing codes evaporative emission system problem.

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention some serious safety issues that I have encountered with a 2020 Mustang that I purchased from carmax, west valley on September 24, 2023. Soon after taking possession of the vehicle, I noticed a malfunction with the airbag system. It is disheartening to report that I had to endure a three-day wait to have the necessary repairs carried out. The delay in rectifying this crucial safety feature is highly concerning, as it exposes both the driver and passengers to unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, the problems did not end there. Shortly after the airbag issue was addressed, the engine light illuminated on the dashboard. Despite my efforts to troubleshoot the problem myself, the light remained illuminated, indicating a persisting issue with the engine. Not only did this cause me considerable inconvenience, but it also raised concerns about the overall reliability and safety of the vehicle. The most alarming incident occurred on October 2, 2023, when my car unexpectedly broke down while I was driving on the freeway. This unexpected failure not only posed a significant risk to my safety but also left me traumatically shaken by the experience. I cannot emphasize enough the fear and anxiety I felt as I navigated the dangerous situation caused by the vehicle's sudden malfunction. I am deeply disappointed by the lack of quality control and the subsequent safety hazards that have plagued my 2020 Mustang. As a consumer, I have a reasonable expectation that the vehicle I purchase will be safe and reliable. It is distressing to find myself in a situation where my safety and wellbeing are compromised due to these issues. I have taken my concerns up with carmax and I am waiting for a response. It is my hope that they will investigate the matter and take measures to address it. I will not stop fighting for the safety of my family and myself.

While driving the car goes into limp mode randomly causing the rpm’s to fall. There is no power to get off the road safely and has almost caused an accident numerous times. I have had diagnostics ran and the mechanic has no clue what’s causing this. Ford forums are full of these Mustangs doing this. It is a huge safely risk!!!!.

The new purge valve is faulty in my car. It has been replaced once in 2017, and another time in 2022 (possibly 2021), due to a total engine rebuild under powertrain warranty. This valve is a known common issue on online forums. For the model cars 2018 and 2019, this is an open recall. I strongly believe this should be investigated. In the past, this faulty valve caused my car to stall and die on a busy road. Both Ford customer service and the dealer have given me conflicting information whether or not this part is covered under emissions warranty, causing a headache. The dealer stated that if given a sequence of codes, the dealer has been instructed by Ford to replace the part for free. This indicates that Ford is aware of the common hazard that the faulty purge valve is causing. Considering this part is less than 2 years old, it should at least be covered by the 2 year emissions warranty. However, I believe others, like me, have suffered the nuisance and safety risk of this faulty part, and have paid unnecessary expenses due to Ford's negligence to address this known issue.

I am looking for support concerning a possible defect with our 2016 Mustang v6. It appears to be a fuel tank defect. Causing our garage to completely smell like gas when the car is full of fuel. Similar to recall# 15v339-7601. Our car has a hairline fracture (according to our dealership service department). They attempted to repair the issue by replacing the evap line, instead found a crack in the evap nipple. According to our dealership the emissions warranty expired the week before we reported the issue in 2023. This is upsetting as I feel this is not a maintenance issue and more of a design flaw as Ford changed the design of the fuel tank after 2017. The dealership wants us to pay for this service but this is not our fault they fixed it incorrectly. I feel like this should be a recall or some sort of extended warranty from Ford for a design flaw.

Fuel tank leaking from fuel tank fitting. The tank has been inspected by the Ford service department. Car is unsafe to drive. The symptoms are a fuel leak when the tank is full, and a gasoline oder, again when full. This item was discovered around the first of the year, Ford not able to see the car until March 3rd.

This specific car model is a 2016 shelby gt350 tech package that I owned for at least 7 months. In this time period I had only put 7k mikes on it before it blew up. After doing tons of research there is a tons of class action law suits against Ford for these cars. The incident that occurred was while driving the vehicle caught fire on the passenger side. Driving at the speed limit of 40 mph no warning lights, check engine lights or anything it just blew up. Up to this point all maitence was done properly and after doing some research it had the same issue report by multiple other shelby owners of this year. This vehicle is not safe for the roads and if not properly investigated, it can cause someone to lose their life. I incurred a bruised head, burns and loss of hair from this accident. I’ve contacted Ford in regards to this issue and yet to have anything done. This vehicle should not be sold to the public with these known issues. There was recall sent out to fix this issue but my specific VIN number was never contacted to fix it.

Noticed a fuel vapor odor for a couple of weeks. After filling the fuel tank the odor intensified. Drove the vehicle about 20 miles to my house. I could smell fuel when I exited the vehicle and noticed fuel leaking from the fuel tank. Took vehicle to the dealership, and when the tank was removed found the fitting for the evaporative system connection cracked. (see photos) there is no apparent impact that would have caused the crack.

Powertrain - the transmission when coming to a stop lurches the vehicle forward. Along with the lurching forward when slowing down it makes a loud clunk noise and makes the car and my person move forward. Propulsion - when turning into traffic the car sometimes has no power and takes about 3 seconds to get power back to the vehicle, almost causing accident.

The gas tank was only getting 10 gallons of gas and not 16 gallons like it was suppose to. We ended up running out of gas on a road trip with our two young daughters in the middle of the night on I-75. The gas tank said you had 100 miles to go before empty and then 3 miles later it would drop to 0 and you were running out of gas. This car was used in street racing which was late devulged to us after we found out that at 20,000 miles a whole new engine was put in without our knowledge when we purchased the vehicle . We took it to the dealer and they put a new fuel assembly unit in it. It fixed the problem a little but never fully. Now, 2 days ago my husband with my youngest daughter ran out of gas again on us-19 and I had to leave work to go get them and gas. Next on the 57 things wrong with this car… 5 days after purchase it had 22 engine warning. Took it back and they replaced the 4th coil and the 4th injector and spark plug. About 3 days later my husband came flying into his work, ran by me grabbing a fire extinguisher and ran to the car and started shooting it at the car, the car had caught on fire and the 4th injector was spewing gas. They had pinched an oring while installing the injector and never put the clips back on the injector rail to keep them in place. My husband could have been killed easily. The dealership never took ownership for it and blamed it on the dealership that sold us this the car. Every time we turn around it’s something else. The month of December we only had the car 6 days. It was in the shop 3 different. Times and everytime we got it back it wasn’t fixed. We bought this car in September and it had had 52 engine lights, over 10,000 in parts and labor to fix. Four rentals cars a new battery list goes on. We have tried numerous times to ask the dealership to make this right and their answer is for us to sell them the car back less our 20,000 deposit and buy a whole new car from them. That’s the solution we were given.

There is a recall for fuel odor on build dates 9/14-10/14 due to a failed fuel line sensor. My vehicle has a build date of 8/14 and is experiencing the same issue but not covered under the recall, which is a heavy fuel odor after putting gas in. Any amount of fuel put in has a severe odor, it doesn't have to be filled.

When making a left turn the entire car turns off when using the car all day on hot days.

Intermittent loss of throttle with wrench light. Engine goes into derate, have to shut off car, let sit for 3-5 minutes, restart then ok until it occurs again. Loss of throttle at any time is unsafe. Two Ford dealers have tried to repair with no luck. They have replaced the throttle pedal assembly, the throttle body, and now the pcm. Problem is still present. Have an ongoing Ford customer service case #cas44568044-d6g8f8. Still awaiting resolution. Vehicle is still under 3/36 base warranty. Problem has been ongoing for a little over a year now.

While driving home just as I was switching lanes, the car sputtered badly and a wrench light appeared on dash. Since then, the car did not exceed 20 miles per hour. As I conducted research, a lot of Mustangs have this issue and it is theorized to be the throttle body.

Driving at posted speed, went to pass a vehicle and the accelerator stuck in full open (down) position. Car lurched forward and luckly I was able to put it on neutral, pull over and manually un-stick the accelerator pedal.

Canister purge valve malfunction stuck in an open position. If this occurs, an excessive vacuum in the fuel system could cause deformation of the vehicle’s plastic fuel tank. Indicator light check engine with fluctuating or inaccurate fuel levels. This could lead to a stall while driving and/or an inability to restart the vehicle, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Few months ago, suddendly I got a bad gasoline smell coming from the aft of the car. The smell is strong when I refill the tank. Brought the car to Ford service, they found a very small crack on top of the tank. I'm very surprised how a 5 years car got this kind of safety issue, Ford wants charge me 2000$ to fix it. Fyi: I'm not been caught in any kind of accident.

Drove car 600 miles then there was no coolant in the vehicle. Car gas hand says car was half way full after I filled the car up. It will give the wrong reading then once you start driving it will reset. Air conditioning will not work got half way down the highway across country and the air conditioning stop work for 2 hours. Then it will only work on low until I turned off and on a couple times then it started blowing air. Remote start - cold start will not start sometimes or take a couple of times to start the vehicle and you have to be directly in front of the vehicle it will lock and open from your home but you have to walk directly in front of the vehicle for it to start.
