37 Wiper problem of the 2014 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/11/2017

The rear view mirror in my Mustang vibrates on any road with imperfections so that you cannot distinguish what type a vehicle is behind you. I have had it replaced under warranty, but the new one does the same. This issue is on a majority of Mustangs, according to forums, and I believe it is a safety issue if you cannot distinguish if there is a safety vehicle behind you.

38 Wiper problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

I am having major electrical issues which Ford will not address. Sometimes this is intermittent, sometimes it is constant. Here is what happens: I get a barrage of errors on the dash, the radio and air conditioner will cycle on and off multiple times (sometimes will remain off); rear brake lights stop working, rear turn signal stops working. It does this randomly, sometimes for an extended period. I worry that someone may not check the brake lights or turn signal and be severely injured or killed in an accident. I have alerted Ford about this and believe that it fell on deaf ears. The car can be in motion, stationary, city, highway, rain, snow, sleet, or sun, driven aggressively or gently. Nothing seems to trigger the problem, it just happens. The car has been garaged a large part of its life.

39 Wiper problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Approximately 1 year after purchase (new 2007 Mustang convertable), the original rear view mirror was replaced with an oem part #6u5z17700ba. A few years after dealer installation, it began to vibrate very badly; however, the dealer stated they could not stop the vibration. Approximately 2 months ago, while my wife was driving the car, upon a smooth asphalt roadway, the clip that holds the mirror onto the windshield bracket, separated and the mirror fell off the windshield and dangled by the wiring connection. I have attempted to reattach the clip to the mirror, using superglue or jb weld; however, the repair does not last more than 2 or 3 weeks. The dealership body shop stated the mirror cannot be repaired, because the retaining clip cannot be permanently rejoined to the mirror.

45 Wiper problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/03/2013

Water first noticed leaking inside the vehicle on 5/2013 and was -TSB performed on seals at cowel panel. Car leak was not fixed and started leaking again at same sight, this time with extensive mold spore damage which can be a significant health risk. This car has had multiple(at least 5 times)check engine light coming on,several times the car has just stalled while driving and so far 2 batteries and 2 alternators have been put in to this car and it makes you wonder if water has been leaking since purchase into the electrical system of this car. This has been a known problem at Ford since 2007 but a recall was never issued. I am not sure what it takes to issue a recall but I would hate it to be a respiratory illness or a crash that would bring it to this.

46 Wiper problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/13/2013

The rear defrost cable detached from my windshield causing me not to be able to defrost the rear window. This is a huge issue as I live in a cold weather area and I cannot keep the back window clear. I have seen a few complaints like this on Ford forums.

47 Wiper problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/29/2012

I had to make an emergency trip in my car in August in heavy rain on a mountain. As I traveled the wiper motor began to make a very loud & sickly noise. And the wipers' were functioning poorly or stopping completely. I made it to my destination having been able to get the wiper blades' to work again after they would stop & not work. Coming back home down a steep downgrade on a mountain the rain began to pour very hard & suddenly water starting pouring into the passenger floorboard & the windows' fogged & the wiper blades' stopped all together. I had 3 vehicles' behind me on a steep mountain. After managing to find a place to stop on the side without being able to see out at all & waiting out the worst of the rain. I then took my car to the Ford dealership & they indicated I had three inches' of water under the hood & the wiper motor was in need of replacement. I had this repair done at a cost of $418 and no indication of what to do to keep this from happening again or any other info. I studied this issue on the internet & discovered that this has happened to a lot of Mustang owners'. Certain model Mustangs' you can find cowl covers' to cover the windshield wiper area which is what the problem is. The holes' in the cowl & around the wipers' are large enough for debris to fill up the ventilation system & then the water has no where to go but inside the car. Also the plug under the hood is small and has no real capacity to drain off large tree debris or other bits' and pieces'. I have contacted Ford motor CO. Today because of my ire over this & to find a way to avoid this repair again and today they indicated nothing could be done for a refund or a cowl cover or other solution. They recommended some windshield wiper blade covers'. I think this is a very dangerous and costly and a poor real world design for this car or any car. I park under no trees'.

48 Wiper problem of the 2010 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/17/2012

I have a 2010 Ford Mustang gt coupe and had to have my front windshield replaced because it got damaged. I had a new oem windshield installed by safelite glass who installed a carlite windshield and the distortion around the perimeter of the window is very bad. Everything looks curvy and magnified when I see out of that part of the glass. Realize I sit very low in the Mustang and actually see a lot through the bottom 2 inches and left 2 inches. Safelite brought 5 different carlite windshields and they all had the same problem. My insurance company said I could use someone else so I went to jn phillips and they had a couple of carlite windshields in stock for my Mustang and they too were distorted. The glass technician there even confirmed it. I am being told that is the only glass I can get for my Mustang and everywhere they checked had distorted glass. The dot number of all the windshields that have been delivered to me already (6 windshields now) are all 287. Jn philips called all around and all that is around is dot 287 glass with the same distortion. I will not accept having to live with an inferior windshield like this. Noone from Ford or carlite has helped me with this problem as I have contacted them several times. This windshield is very dangerous to me and definitely impairs my vision and is causing me to constantly brake and swerve because of the distortion. I feel it is a definite safety hazard and I can't believe that these windshields were allowed to go out to the public. I don't know what to do next.

49 Wiper problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Noticed one day that my rear window what foggy looking while driving to the point you can not make out shapes or objects. Cleaned the vehicle thinking it was dirty but not in this case. Had it looked at and I was told that it was distorted from bad material or not put together right. It is still a factory window and Ford refuses to do nothing with it. Now I am having ac problems, warm air blowing on the driver and semi cool air on the passenger side. Had freon put in twice and after a few weeks does the same thing again.

50 Wiper problem of the 2012 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/21/2012

During an evening rain storm I experienced that my visibility of the road was impaired due to where my wipers stopped on the windshield. The passenger side wiper stops directly in the drivers field of view before returning to its parked position. The rainwater, wiper blade, and skid residue from the wiper, create a visually blurred area on the windshield causing an unclear view of the road for a few seconds. I have discovered this condition is uncommon on other makes of vehicles. Typically, passenger side wiper blades stop several degrees short of the position described. This condition can be corrected by modifying the degree of travel permitted by the wiper. From my inquiries to the Ford motor company and several Ford service departments no current method of adjustment is available nor are there any concerns regarding this issue. I believe a test study will reveal there is a potential hazard to obstructed view of the road due to incorrect wiper travel.

51 Wiper problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 01/03/2012

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated whenever it rains water would leak from underneath the dashboard on the passenger's side which resulted to an accumulation of water on the floor. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 150,000. Js.

52 Wiper problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 10/22/2010

There is a water leak in the front of my Mustang, such that when it rains water comes through onto my feet. Due to the structure of the car allowing water to flow in areas that it should not, this caused water to ruin my windshield wiper motor. I had it replaced and my car looked at by two different mechanics who could not find the reason for the water flowing into my car and onto my windshield wiper motor. Today, as I was driving in the middle of a rainstorm, my windshield wipers stopped working again, and the motor was shorted out by the rain water. I see there is TSB out for this car and structural issues causing water to flow in the front, but twice now I have been driving in a rainstorm and unable to use my windshield wipers. This caused difficulty seeing while driving which I feel is a very serious safety concern. The water damage has caused me to pay for not only two windshield wiper motors but it is also causing mold/mildew in my car interior.

53 Wiper problem of the 2005 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 06/10/2007

2005 Ford Mustang gt purchased December of 2004. It has leaked continually on the passenger side every time it rains. The gem module has been soaked every time. Tail lights malfunction and I no longer have windshield wipers that work, so I cannot drive in the rain. The carpet has been replaced by my insurance company but Ford refuses to do anything about these leaks and the damage done to the electrical system.

54 Wiper problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 10/13/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 55 mph, the windshield wipers, headlights and heater would not operate when activated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated an accumulation of water leaked onto the passenger floor through the windshield lower seam. The water leakage resulted to a shortage in the Smart junction box which contributed to the malfunction. The technician resealed the windshield area. The problem recurred and had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 13,704.
