1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2015

Replaced rear shackles due to rot, spare tire frame rotted off and spare fell out, was fixing truck and noticed rot hole in frame by left rear shock when replacing, so that was repaired and also noticed crack in frame and gas tank strap broken. Took down gas tak and the whole frame on left side was rotted and ready to break in half and the crossmember is all rotted out.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

Frame and cross members along with the spare tire carrier all rotted out?, as do all the Ford Rangers and Ford will not do anything about it, at least Toyota came to the plate for their owners. Great truck except for the rotting frame issues. Found this out by hearing a crack one day and when checking found a crack in frame by left rear wheel , and also when looking found a crack and hole by left rear shock mount, when pulling this apart to fix it, also found a gas tank strap broken off, after pulling tank down it was found that the whole cross member was rotted and also the left front side of the left rear frame rail.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

My frame has rusted/ rotted almost completely off where it connects to my rear bumper. The bumper is now attached by one of two brackets and is soon to fall off where as it may cause a fatal injury to another driver or pedestrians.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

I noticed heavy rust scale on ground and inspected to see my spare tire was missing, there is a large hole rusted all the way thru the frame in front of the left rear spring shackle and a crack in the frame in front of the front shackle almost all the way around the channel. Further investigation showed all cross members, gas tank strap and bed supports are severely rusted and the right side frame rail following suit with the left frame rail. The remainder of the truck is in very good condition this should not happen to a truck with this age and mileage.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2012

While driving on the highway, I was having difficulty steering. The car was pulling to the left and I had to pull over because it was too difficult to manage. Upon inspection, the right front tire was toed-in and the upper tire stabilizer arm broke away from the frame at the bracket. The bracket attaching the arm to the frame had snapped. The frame itself just below that bracket was cracked with severe rot on both sides. The rest of the truck is in perfect condition except for the frame. I was told that this cannot be fixed.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2002

While driving 60 mph and without warning, spare tire unlatched, and or wire rusted, resulting in release of spare tire. There was a metal wire locking tire in place.
