Three problems related to front air bag sensor control have been reported for the 1999 Ford Ranger. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer states: pinch bolt that holds steering shaft together fell out or broke, the steering wheel would turn without happening or broke. Took vehicle to Ford, they said that they couldn't do anything. Currently, sensor light was on for air bag, and the clock spring broke. Ford will charge consumer for repairs.
While driving at any speed the air bag warning light will illuminate. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cause was not determined.
Air bag light is on and stays on. The deactivator switch is defective. Vehicle came with an of/off switch, which was replaced at consumer's expense.
