When applying the brakes the front brakes are making a growling noise. Took the front wheel off the truck, checked the brake pads and rotors. The back side of the rotor is deteriorating and in return is eating up the brake pad. Took truck to roberts Ford in wood river, IL. In may 2004 and notified the dealer of the defect. The shop manager refused to fix the problem, told me this was general maintainance. I realize that brake pads are general maintainance but when the brake rotor is eating up the pads this is not general maintainance this is a defect.
The rotors experienced premature wear, when the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance and vibrated.
Rotors replaced twice in June 2002 jim doyle dealer said rotors were damaged by bad calipers, 10000 miles. . In August 2003 (west Ford couldn't wait until the following wee,k rotors were replaced again with 5000 miles . Brake pads in very good shape. Pads were not replaced !st replacement under warranty 2nd $300. 00. .
There was vibration when applying brakes. Dealer determined that front rotors had to be replaced.
When applying brakes at 45 mph or slowing down vehicle vibrates and shakes, brake pedal too. Dealer has replaced front rotors 3 times.
