Defogger Problems of Ford Ranger

I have a 2010 Ford Ranger. It has 54,000 miles and the heater has stopped working. Apparently the heater in Rangers has been a problem for years. They break and they don't repair them because of the mileage. They also charge a fee to find the problem. I know it's electric and I'm not sure if it can cause a fire.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that heating and air conditioning unit failed. The plenum heater box door fractured which caused the blower to malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.

During normal operation of vehicle while traveling at any speed, and turning defogger on windshield, it will fog up, reducing visibility. Dealership informed consumer that this was normal. Please provide any additional information / attachments.

The blend air door inside of the heater/def plenum broke - casuing extreme heat in cab. Door is not serviceable - requires total heater replacement. See Ford TSB 99-8-8. 7-10 hours labor to fix a 2. 00 part. Ford replaced this abs plactic blend air door with stonger nylon - plenum #f87z-18471-da. This is a known defect yet no announcement is made to owners. This could cost me up to $1000. 00 or more to fix on a 3 year old car. Also this inhibits the ac system to work.

Heater takes 20 mins. To warm up/sometimes voltage drops driving down the road.
