Frame And Members Problems of Ford Ranger - part 2

My 2005 Ford Ranger truck is severely rusted on the underside. I had a 1992 Ranger previous to this one, and never had this amount of rust on such a critical area. Everything is attached to the frame and it appears to be prematurely failing, although nothing has fallen off as of yet. The rest of the truck looks immaculate, but underneath. . . Looks 100 years old! this is a problem.

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger and have a really bad rusting issue on the rear frame. The front half seems fine but the rear half is rusting really bad and I fear that since I have had large chunks of rusted metal fall off that more critical parts may be weakened by the bad rust. I belong to a Ranger forum and know that many have the same issue as me.

The contact owns a 2002 Ford Ranger. While driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions, there was a loud noise coming from the exterior of the vehicle. Suddenly, the spare tire well detached from its frame and onto the road. A replacement spare tire well was installed at a local repair shop. The vehicle was later taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the frame exhibited severe rust and corrosion. Thus causing defects in the fuel tank strap and transmission cross beam. The brake line and shackles were also damaged. The vehicle was not repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was unknown.

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger, which now has 96000 miles on it. I purchased it new. At approximately 90000 miles, the rear spring shackles rotted off of the frame. I was driving when this happened, and the truck bed dropped down on to the shackle ear with a tu=hud and shook the truck. The spare tire storage housing has also rusted away.

Underside of 1997 Ford Ranger is completely rusted out. Bumper won't stay in place and the spare tire bolt would not allow spare tire to come off. We have just parked vehicle after were warned about it. We just use it for short trips.

-the contact owns a 2000 Ford Ranger. The vehicle was taken to an inspection station. The technician observed that the frame exhibited massive holes. In addition, the frame was fractured in two. The rear vehicle bumper was not fastened correctly which contributed to the failure. There were no prior warnings. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 103,000. The current mileage was 103, 733.

1997 Ford Ranger. The pedal mount bracket (moulded aluminum) fractured, causing the complete failure of the clutch and partial failure of the brake. This is a part that should never, ever, ever fail in normal operation.

I own a 2000 Ford Ranger 4x4. Last year, I noted a loud thumping from the rear on a washboard road and looked underneath for the cause and found that the rear leaf spring shackles had completely rotted off and the rear of the leaf springs were resting against the trucks bed. I took it to a frame shop and had the shackles replaced but the technician make note to me that the frame had a lot of surface rust built up and much of the metal fuel and brake tubing was heavily corroded and rusting. The vehicle had approximately 80,000 miles at the time. It now has 88,000.

Frame rot. Had to put new spring shackles in. Found the frame rotted out at and around spare tire. This is potentially dangerous and not knowing this prior to buying it could have saved me alot of money and grief.

We have a 99 Ford Ranger bought brand new. It is in mint condition and has only approx. 80,000 miles on it. We just noticed that the frame was cracked and ready to split in half. We contacted Ford motor CO. , they said there was nothing they could do about it that the warranty was over. They wouldn't even look at the vehicle. This vehicle has a defective frame and if, it was not noticed, we could have been killed. This is a safety issue and there may be more vehicles out there that could have the same problem. There was no accident, but there could have been if it wasn't noticed.

My son was traveling on a 4 lane state hwy at about 65 mph in the outside lane when the driver's side back tire flew off. He said all he remembers was that the trucks rear dropped on that side, spinning the truck to face the opposite direction, and causing it to rollover numerous times until it landed in the ditch on the opposite side of the hwy. Not to mention it had to go up and embankment to get there. He could have been killed or seriously injured. Dps , wrecker driver, my husband and my son could not find the tire, which still has the brake drum on it. Upon inspection it was noted that left rear axle broke behind the flange where the lug nuts go. I am told this must be a defect because you rarely hear this happening. Dps and wrecker driver stated that vehicle had good tires and looked as though it had been well taken care of. It is a 2002 Ford Ranger edge.

Frame has issues with severe surface rust problems and possible more deeper rusting underneath. Worried brackets, hangers and other parts in time will corrode to the point of failure.

Past safety recalls otification date component description NHTSA campaign number /3/2004 structure: frame and members:underbody shields 04v331000 . I brought my 2004 Ford Ranger to the dealer this day 12-13-2004 and when I mentioned this recall to inspect for this possible frame problem the service writer at the "world Ford" dealer in miami, FL. Told me there is no recall. What do I do now?.

Consumer states when driving 60mph the vehicle shakes violently, and the wheels leaves the pavement. Please provide any additional information. Ts.

Consumer was in motion when the vehicle caught on fire. It began in or under the bed of the pickup. Consumer stopped the vehicle and attempted to extinguish the fire but was unable to do so. The vehicle and it's contents were engulfed in the fire.

We, in good faith, purchased a new 2002 Ford Ranger, edge edition from your robstown texas dealership on 7/12/2002. No safety defect listed.

Door swellings started then a long list from the body frame to engine and transmission faliure occures when the tempature changes vehicle was leased brand new!!!!!!!.

Frame of vehicle is bent and has developed cracks which has prevented bed from positioning closely to frame. Consumer stated that this was a manufacturer's defect which has caused vehicle to become unsafe to drive. Consumer states vehicle was like this when it was bought new, however dealer stated it would be fixed and everytime they tried to contact dealer they would turn their backs on the consumer.

Frame members and body are defective. The machanic repositioned/welded the frame because of a noise, dealer cannot duplicate the problem.

When vehicle was purchased the bed was installed cocked, we noticed a serios water leak a week after leaving the dealer, have returned the truck 6 times with no repairs that worked. First repaip attempt was to apply a sealer, no good, second was sealer again, no good, third,fourth, and fifth try was silicone no good,last try was expandable foam, still no good, im tired of have a piece of junk.
