I am the original owner of this vehicle and the engine and controls have not been modified in any way. Yesterday while driving at approximately 30 mph on a surface street with dry road conditions in the “2h” setting on the drive modes selection dial my truck spontaneously shifted into four-wheel drive high and then attempted to switch into four-wheel-drive low – “rock crawl mode. ” the rear differential locked, speed was suddenly reduced, and the steering became more difficult. Luckily, I was able to safely pull over. I captured a video at this time documenting the control settings and display image. It took multiple attempts, even in park and neutral, to get out of 4wd and back into the 2h setting. Once back in 2h, the truck drove normally. I have had similar experiences at least twice before in this truck with months between them. In those cases, I wondered if I had accidentally bumped the dial control. I am certain that this was not the case yesterday, so this was a spontaneous event initiated by the truck’s computer and/or mechanical controls. I consider this to be a very serious safety hazard, as it dramatically and unexpectedly affected the speed and handling of my truck. I did some online searching today and found that multiple other Ranger raptor owners have experienced this issue, suggesting that this may be a serious design flaw affecting multiple vehicles. I plan to schedule a service appointment with Ford and notify them directly of this problem and hazard.

The contact owns a 2023 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while idling at the red traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle was accelerating unintendedly. The contact continuously depressed the brake pedal; however, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly at approximately 1 mph and crashed into the rear of another occupied vehicle. There was no injury sustained. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed. The contact and the other driver pulled into a gas station and exchanged the vehicle's insurance information. The contact stated that there was no visible damage on either vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that no failure was found. The contact noticed that the dealer service report stated that the contact had stated that the vehicle was experiencing rough shifting while idling; however, the contact had only described the incident to the dealer and had not mentioned rough shifting while idling. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact requested buy-back assistance. The manufacturer informed the contact that the buy-back request was denied because neither the state where the vehicle was purchased, nor the state where the contact resided, required the buyback of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was advised to take the vehicle to another dealer for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

While driving my 2022 Ford Ranger, the transmission failed to engage drive. I started my morning as usual, letting the vehicle warm up and the rpms settle before leaving my neighborhood. As I pulled onto the main road, the truck began acting strangely—I noticed it wasn’t accelerating normally and felt constant gear shifting without gaining speed. To avoid blocking traffic, I pulled over at a local store and shifted into park. When I tried to shift back into drive, the transmission would not engage. Pressing the gas felt like the truck was in neutral. I turned the vehicle off for about a minute and restarted it, but the same issue occurred. I then called my local dealer, who suggested using sport mode and manually selecting gear 2. This worked, and I was able to drive home safely since I was only about a minute away. After that, I contacted the warranty company and arranged for a tow. Component/system: transmission safety risk: loss of acceleration on a main road created a risk of collision with other vehicles. Reproduced/confirmed: unknown until December 15th if the issue has been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer. Inspection: dealer is scheduled to inspect the vehicle on December 15. Warning lamps/messages: none appeared prior to the failure. None after. Until repairs are completed, I am without a vehicle and will only be reimbursed for a rental while repairs are worked on.

The factory driver's side floor mat does not stay snapped in. This causes the floor mat to slide forward towards the pedals. This causes the floor mat to lodge underneath the accelerator pedal, which can cause an inability to accelerate. The fllor mat could also lodge undermeath the brake pedal, not allowing the full use of the brakes.

The head rest leans out so far at the top that my chin hits my chest. It doesn't matter if I try to lean the seat back of forth. Please evaluate the head rest as I believe it will cause serious injury as there is no back and forth adjustment. This can cause severe damage to the neck. You insisted on head rests for safety and I am very concerned about this. Also they are leaning the window so far back that with the sun out its impossible to see out with the reflections from the dash board showing in the window. The glare though the side drivers window is blocking me from seeing the odometer and gages. I really don't understand the use of so much computer that distracts drivers. If this is not your department send it to might be of assistance. I am talking about the 2025 Ford Ranger truck.

Truck looses gear when pulling into traffic. It will shift out of gear and only allow coasting. At speeds of 40 mph and higher it will down shift causing dramatic reduced speed with no brake warning to other drivers behind. It will also randomly loose power. It will have delayed shifts squealing tires upon shifting and excessive jerking that is uncontrollable.

2021 Ford Ranger with 10r80 transmission showing following codes p0733 p0734 90,000 miles on truck. Jerky and slipping gear change between 3-4 and 5-6 occasionally no drive. Have service records showing my truck was maintained properly.
The truck randomly loses power, sometimes after rounding a corner, getting into turn lane, or over a speedbump the accelerator is dead for 1-2 seconds and the truck does not move forward. It has left me in a precarious position in the middle of the road with on coming traffic.
The ten-speed transmission "10r80" has rough and harsh shifting, "upshifts and downshifts," which sometimes causes the vehicle to lunge forward unexpectedly. The dealer has reprogrammed the transmission twice with no change.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving 10 mph in the driveway and depressing the brake pedal to make a turn, the vehicle lunged forward and accelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that upon depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact continuously depressed the brake pedal until the vehicle responded as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall. The contact stated while her husband was in the process of parking the vehicle in the driveway, the contact's husband depressed the accelerator pedal to drive forward, and the failure recurred, causing the vehicle to crash into two other unoccupied vehicles that were parked in the driveway. The air bags did not deploy. There was no injury sustained. No police report was filed. There was no property damage. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 11,055.
2021 Ford Ranger - 10r80 transmission failure while driving. Hard shifting, lurching, slipping gears then abrupt failure. It is available. Currently at diehl Ford in new brighton, pennsylvania. - it went from being 90% drivable to coming to complete stop with no transmission engagement at all. Break down occured while climbing a grade and the complete stop happened over a blind crest with guard rails on either side. Leaving myself vulnerable to being struck from behind and another driver having minimal time to see then avoid me or potentially have no where to go but through me. Can I add documents later as I get them?.
When turning on to another road and accelerating, engine will suddenly loose all power. Releasing accelerator will regain some power until vehicle speed increases. Throttle control is often erratic and transmission shifting is inconsistent resulting in hard clunks during shift. Pulling into traffic with a sudden loss of power leaves me vulnerable to a collision.
Vehicle has hard jerking when increasing speeds. Vehicle takes several seconds to gain power from being stopped at red light and shifts very hard. Sometimes feels like gear slips into neutral and loses power after accelerating slowing. Takes several seconds to recognize being in reverse and jerks hard when it gets going. Started at around 37,000 miles and getting worse at 45,000. Been told several times it's normal, but it very obviously is not and feels very unstable and unsafe.

The transmission "bucking" during speed acceleration. This causes the vehicle to DE-accelerate before accelerating to desire speed. Problem: programimg of the pcm for the transmission. According to the data collected on the Ford forum this problem affects all Ford Ranger for 2019 models.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been involved in a crash due to unintended acceleration, which caused the contact to rear-end another vehicle. The vehicle had body and paint repairs performed; however, the vehicle later experienced jerking, and the transmission was seized while driving. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.
I purchased a new 2022 Ford Ranger it has 6000 miles. I applied brakes and shifted into neutral. 4. On 02/05/23, we left hotel and stopped for gas. We drove four hours at interstate speed, intentionally without using cruise control. After exiting interstate, we drove to apartment and stopped at entrance with engine running before idling through parking lot gate. I touched brake to slow and throttle went wide open. Applying brakes did not stop truck and I shifted into neutral and turned off ignition. At least three nearly identical incidents found reported on internet dating from 10/2020, at least one of which Ford opened file on. Dealer five star Ford, dallas, TX. Could not duplicate sua but did not drive vehicle for 4-6 hours at interstate speeds to duplicate conditions. Ford closed file on warranty claim. Vehicle sold to dealer.
When I engage the speed control on my vehicle, approximately 15 to 45 seconds afterwards, the system will temporarily disengage without warning, causing me to manually re engage the system. Sometimes it will re engage right away, and other times I need to press the resume button several times for it to re engage. There is no warning before the system dis engages.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Ranger. The contact stated after a short drive at approximately 30 mph, the contact parked the vehicle at his residence. The contact heard a loud bang and observed through his residence window that the vehicle was on fire that was confined to the engine compartment. The flames eventually spread to the passenger cabin. The fire department was called. The fire was extinguished with chemicals. The fire marshal wrote a report and advised the contact that the fire could be related to a NHTSA safety campaign. The contact's vehicle shows one open recall NHTSA safety campaign number: 05v017000 (vehicle speed control). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

The failed component is a small wheel speed sensor on the rear axle. The sensor is designed in a way where it inserts into the axle and sits close enough to the gears that it can be hit by the gears during bumps/potholes/etc. The issue puts myself and others at risk as when the sensor malfunctions or breaks, it disables multiple safety features of the truck including: antilock brakes, traction control, power steering, hill assist, and collision avoidance system. Other systems affected include cruise control. The problem has been reproduced with three separate speed sensors, two oem sensors and one after market. I have had the vehicle inspected by a Ford dealership for the issue. Issues prior to the first replaced sensor was the sensors have issues with cold climate. When snow or ice is on the roadway, the sensors have issues and disable all the above features. Appears the design cannot withstand the cold weather.
On two separate instances the truck accelerated on it own and the brakes were used but didn't stop the vehicle had to turn the key off and the second of these two incidences the truck hit a wall and kept accelerating digging the ground up.
I was slowly pulling forward, parking my vehicle. I pressed the brakes and they did not engage. I pumped my brakes and my foot was down to the floor with no brake activity and an involuntary acceleration occurred causing me to crash into a brick wall. Fortunately, I was the only person injured in the crash. The police were called and my vehicle was towed to be repaired. It was inspected by my insurance company. I called Ford several times to ask that the vehicle be inspected by a Ford investigator to determine why the brakes failed and the involuntary acceleration occurred. They misdirected me at least 10 times. I informed that there were 12 reports of the identical problem happening to other 2019 Ford Ranger owners. They ignored my requests. Upon recommendation by Ford customer service, my car was towed from a body shop to a Ford dealer where they informed by that there was at least one instance that the diagnostics showed a sensor failure. At no time did any warning light appear on my dash signaling me there was an issue of a sensor failure. In spite of this problem, Ford continues to ignore my request for an inspection of the vehicle. I went to a doctor as I had a very bad headache and pain throughout my body. I had a concussion and soft tissue damage along my right side, both hands and elbows.
My daughter called me screaming when her 2005 Ford Ranger fx4 level 2 had unexplained runaway throttle while driving back to college in January 2022. The vehicle had the cruise control on for a couple hours and without warning, began to accelerate to the point that it was at the rev limiter, traveling at 90 miles an hour. She called me hysterical and I advised her to shut off the cruise and hit the brakes but nothing would stop her or turn off the cruise. I advised her to turn off the vehicle to acc position and coast to the shoulder. When she had calmed down, I asked her to restart the truck, it started wide open throttle, so she immediately shut it off. I told my daughter then to mash the gas pedal a few times and restart the vehicle. It restarted at normal idle speed. 1/28/2022- my daughter came home from school today for a visit, the same thing happened again on her drive home. She was able to coast to the shoulder and restart after mashing the pedal a few times. I am advising her not to use the cruise control and to get it into a Ford shop to inspect. There are no lamps or warnings to indicate there is an issue or code/cel. This is a deadly situation that apparently has occurred with Ford explorers that have the 4. 0 liter engine and 5. 0l engine. . Read more...

Incident was reported to me by an employee. Driving in traffic on a highway with normal, dry road conditions the accelerator pedal started moving down on its own. The truck accelerated on its own from 50 mph to 70+ mph. Applying the brakes the truck did not slow down. Eventually, the accelerator pedal corrected itself and started working normally. There was no indication on the dashboard of the issue. This could have resulted in a serious accident or death. The truck is waiting to be towed to the Ford garage for repair. Thank you, wendy mcneill.
The contact owns a 2021 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that while his wife was pulling into a parking space with the brake pedal depressed the vehicle accelerated on its own crashing into the building. A police report was filed and vehicle was towed to the dealer. The contact stated the body damage needed to be repaired before a failure cause could be diagnosed. The contact stated that he also contacted the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 3,000.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Ranger. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 mph and attempting to switch lanes, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate. Was driving and suddenly, my vehicle started to lose power. Was very scary because it was at night. Engine light came on and power was lost. Pulled off freeway into gas station. Checked fluids, etc. . Upon trying to leave, vehicle was sputtering with no compression. I did not think I was going to make it home. After a few minutes, I tried again, this time giving vehicle more gas. It seemed to do a little better. But, every time I had to slow down or stop for a stop sign or traffic light, vehicle was sputtering and acting like it was going to stall out. Was very nerve racking, as I was afraid of being rear ended by cars that were behind me. Now every time I slow down to where vehicle is in idle, it acts like it is going to stall out on me, which makes me very nervous. Had a mechanic install new plugs, new injector, coil package and vehicle is still doing badly and running very rough. Engine light still comes on after having all these new parts installed. Mechanic also recommended using a gas additive and filling tank with premium gas, which I did. Still running rough. Upon further research, have found out that Ford Rangers, years 2004 through 2006 are having the same problem. My vehicle only has 66,362 miles on it and I have kept maintained at all times. Ford has known about this but has not done a recall yet. I feel that they are responsible and that there should be a recall on these vehicles. Either I will have to buy a new engine or a new vehicle, which I can not afford. Ford needs to recall and pay for what needs to be done to fix this problem, as they were aware of this problem and have done nothing about it. I should not have to pay for new engine or new vehicle, when my 2004 Ranger has low mileage and has been well maintained the whole time that I have had it. It is the 3. 0 vulcan engine. Please help.

Vehicle accelerates when brakes are applied. So far only has happened at slow speeds while parking the vehicle. I've seen a jump of 1,000 rpm's when it occurs, but if your pressing hard enough on the brakes you can control the acceleration.
