The contact owns a 2020 Ford Ranger. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated forward unintendedly without warning. The contact was forced to turn off the vehicle to prevent the unintended acceleration from continuing. The contact had taken the vehicle to jack kain Ford inc. (3405 lexington rd, versailles, ky 403830) three times and each time the dealer was unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 1,400.

Driving home from work (1/4 commute from office to house, through residential neighborhood). Moving along street at 25 mph, approach slight road incline & apply gas appropriately for conditions (dry paved road); vehicle suddenly accelerates very rapidly, causing rear end to fishtail, vehicle pulls left; (strikes parked car at end of driveway left side of road); applying brakes while attempting to gain control of steering; brakes will not slow the vehicle; steering over-corrects to right; (strike parked car at end of driveway right side of road); vehicle continues on and strikes side of house. Throttle now returns to proper idle. Shut down vehicle, which is then towed from seen. Both air bags deployed. Vehicle severely damaged!.

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Ranger. While the contact was driving approximately between 30-40 mph, the brakes were engaged with an unintended acceleration. There were several attempts before the vehicle came to a complete stop. The failure occurred sporadic. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000. The VIN was unavailable.

2003 Ford Ranger sudden acceleration. While braking the vehicle suddenly accelerated. I was able to turn off the engine after the engine speed reached about 4,000 rpm. After shutting off the engine I checked to see if my floor mat was causing this problem, I removed it from the driver side and restarted the engine without touching any pedals. The engine started and revved up to 4. 000 rpm again. This is the 3rd time my Ranger did this. I took it to river view
Ford in oswego, they checked it and said they could not replicate the problem. The second time this happened I nearly collided with the vehicle in front of me. I took it back to Ford for the same reason, and they told me the next time it happens drive it to the dealer, at 4,000 rpm. (I don't think so)
there are no recalls for my vehicle as the dealer checked. What can I do?.

While coming to a stop (twice) the Ford Ranger engine accelerated suddenly to a point it could not be completely stopped with the brake system. Had any traffic been coming I would be a dead man. I did not have my foot on accelerator nor are there any floor mats in this truck to get stuck under the accelerator. I'm scared to death to drive this vehicle and I know that if I bring it to the Ford garage that its going to cost tons of money and they are going to say they don't see anything wrong. There is obviously a serious problem with a control mechanism somewhere. This has happened twice. Once after driving the vehicle about a mile. The second time (today) after driving for hours. Can you please help me out I really am scared to drive this truck.

I purchased 2002 Ford Ranger edge 4x4 used in Aug 2005 w/36k on it. I had it 3 weeks when it suddenly accelerated and wouldn't stop with the brake to the floor. It skidded 70 feet jumped the curb and drove on our lawn and back on the street before I put it in neutral and it slowed enough to stop just inches from the rear end of a parked vehicle. I thought I may have done something wrong since this was my first truck in this class so I read through the owners manual and couldn't determine if I had done anything wrong. I telecommute from home and don't drive often so it was weeks later when it happened again this time going up a hill on wet pavement, the truck fishtailed and went into the opposite lane. Thank fully there was no one in the other lane. I took it to my mechanic who could not determine any problem and it wouldn't replicate for him. It has happened a number of times since then and I have had several near misses and am frustrated that no one can fix this dangerous problem. Our 2nd vehicle has died and now this is our only transportation and since I owe thousands on it still I am stuck-will get nothing on a trade in and cant in good conscience sell it to anyone with this problem.
The engine controller tends to hold the engine speed between 2000 and 2500 rpm when my foot is not touching the accelerator pedal. This behavior is most obvious when the clutch is depressed while changing gears. The engine rpm is held artificially high (way above normal idle) for as long as I depress the clutch, up until the point that the vehicle has coasted almost to a complete stop. I believe that the computer also does this when the clutch is engaged. For example, if I remove pressure from the accelerator pedal and allow the vehicle to coast with the clutch engaged while in third gear on a level road, the vehicle never slows down below approximately 30 mph (corresponding to approximately 2000 engine rpms). Also, while descending a hill in a low (2nd/3rd) gear using engine braking (not touching the gas pedal), I can feel the truck spontaneously accelerate. I first took the truck to the dealer for this complaint on 10/22/04. The technician confirmed the behavior, inspected various sensors, probed the computer for error codes, and eventually resorted to resetting the computer in hopes that the problem would magically disappear. This of course did not fix the problem, so I returned to the dealership on 11/16/04 with the same complaint. They researched the issue and found that it is a "normal characteristic" of the vehicle, supposedly added to the computer program to improve emissions. Aside from being annoying, I believe that this "feature" could pose a safety problem because it reduces the effectiveness and predictability of engine braking on down-hill grades. Engine braking is very important in my area because of the steep, frequently snow-covered roads.
2003 Ford Ranger was purchased by the police deparment as a utility truck. On 2 separate occasions, with 2 different police officers driving the truck, the vehicle suddenly accelerated even thought both police officers report they had their foot off the accelerator and on the brake. The first incident occured 2/24/04 and the truck was taken to the dealer. They were unable to duplicate the problem but replaced the throttle body. The next incident occurred 3/11/04. Different police officer had multiple incidents where the truck surged foreward even though foot was off accelerator and on the brake. The vehicle was again taken to the local dealer and once again the mechanics were unable to duplicate the problem but did replace a valve assembly- throttle air bypass. The vehicle has 4000 miles on it.
While driving vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own. This sudden acceleration occurred more than thirty times since ownership of the vehicle. Four different dealers examined the vehicle, and none of them could find the cause of the problem.
While pulling into the garage the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed through the back of the garage and resulted in over $12,000 worth of damage.
