1 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2002

I was driving home from work on a busy highway (rt. 80) when th Ford Taurus that I was driving began to shut off. I was driving 50 miles per hour when the car began to slow down to a complete stop. I managed to get the car pulled over to the shoulder on the busy highway. It was rush hour and the highway was extremely busy. When I came to a complete stop I opened the hood on the busy highway. There was smoke coming up from the antifreeze overflow tank. I checked the oil and it was ok. I had the car towed to a garage. The garage informed me there was a crack in the head gasket or in the engine block. This garage did not want to touch the car because they said oil was mixing with the antifreeze. I then had the car towed to a Ford dealer in lehighton,PA they informed me that there is internal damage to my motor and the repairs could cost up to $4000. I have had this vehicle for 1 year and I still owe $11,000 on the vehicle. I was never offered an extended warrenty on the car. I do not feel like this is my fault and I do not feel like I should have to pay $4000 repair for this car. Thankyou, laura cox.

2 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2000

Excellent svc history, engine blew after warranty, Ford motor company and dealer wouldn't cover and I defenitely could not afford a new engine/replacement , surrendered vehicle under bankruptsy, quite surprised vehicle engine expired at such low mileage. I will be happy to provide any prior service reports, from oil changes to anything. Thanks.

3 Gasoline Engine problem

Failure Date: 01/28/2000

I was at a stop light when I first smelled the intoxicating fumes. Once the light turned I proceded to drive about 1/8th mile. While driving the car became difficult to accelerate. The oil light came on and the car instantly went dead making it nearly impossible to steer off to the side of the road. The dealership did say they have heard of this problem with the 1999 Ford Taurus, however there is not a recall on them. The dealership that repaired my car had another car come in with the same problem while my car was there.
