2000 Ford Taurus fractured rear spring. Loud clunk upon take off from stop. Vehicle occupied by 3 adult passengers and adult driver, no weight in trunk. Vehicle mileage: 86,733 mi. Correctly driven and maintained. Broken springs replaced by repair shop 02/23/2008.
Rear coil spring broke causing tire failure.
Passenger side rear spring fractured, driver side is cracked and ready to fracture. No damage to the tire but I would imagine this is a direct result of living in a region where salty roads are normal everyday life and there is only a recall on the front springs so I guess I am out the 500. 00 it going to cost to fix it.
Rear driver side coil spring broke. When broke, it wore a hole into the tire.
Rear coil springs broken need $1447. 72 dollars to fix.
All of my coil springs broke on my 2000 Ford Taurus.
Broken rear coil spring puncturing tire.
When I took my car to the shop they also discovered that my right rear spring was completely broken. I have seen that this has been a constant problem for other owners as well!!!! I know that there was also an investigation done but no recall. There was a recall on the front springs (which I have already had a problem with!) and I am concerned that the rear springs have not been recalled. I have seen more complaints about the rear spring than the front. I'm just glad I noticed it before it had a chance to cause a blow out of the tire. I drive 65mph to work and the thought that it could have caused a very serious accident unnerves me. I'm very aggravated that Ford has done nothing to fix this problem. Until now I have always had a good experience with Ford vehicles but at this point, I'm not sure that I would ever buy another.
On Nov. 5,2007 at approx. I had my oil changed and tires rotated at monroe. When they discovered that my right side rear spring was broken. Is this a manufacture defect? and if so how do I get re- imburse ?thank you della donato.
Traveling on the highway at approximately 70 mph when a rear coil spring broke and punctured the tire. Fortunately I was able to pull the car off to the side of the road without further incident.
2000 Ford Taurus blt. 12/2000 101,190 miles - had tires rotated - tech's found right rear spring broken and cutting into the inside sidewall of tire approx. 3/16 of an inch. No noticeable sagging of vehicle. Tech's ground down the springs cutting edge and mounted spare. Labor day weekend unable to have repaired until after holiday. No accident, as was caught in time and not driven. We have tire and strut/spring.
Right rear spring in 2000 Ford Taurus is broken. This causes dangerous condition.
I went in for a routine oil change and it was time to rotate my tires. I asked them to rotate and they notified me I had a broken rear left coil spring and that they recommend change both coil springs and struts for a cost of $830 cdn parts, labor. I was surprised having owned a handful of vehicles never once had a coil spring break. The puzzling part is I rarely carry any passengers in the rear. For now I guess I am fortunate to catch it before it blows a tire while on the highway like indicated by others. I need to address this soon. I was looking for Ford to cover the cost of this premature part failure.
Right rear coil spring broke causing tire blow out. This is the fifth vehicle in our fleet to have this failure in the past year.

Rear coil spring failure on 4 2000 Ford Taurus' from 6/2006 through 6/2007.
Passenger side rear coil spring broken, and slid down to next coil, leaving very sharp point of broken coil very close to tire sidewall. Could have sliced tire and caused a blowout while driving, which could have been very injurious to me.
Both rear coil springs on the 2000 Ford Taurus broke approximately at 80,000 miles along with rear stabilizer bar mounts. There was no damage to tires, but I was told this was a major safety hazard as the tires could be punctured by the broken springs. The front coil springs were recalled for the same issue, however, no recall on the rear springs even though the same danger existed. The repair bill will be settled today ,and I anticipate it to exceed $500 for this problem. There should have been a recall on all 4 coil springs on the Ford Taurus models affected.

The rear spring on my 2000 Ford Taurus have failed. Sudden failure. My car started to skid and I nearly ran into a traffic sign. The spring has detached from the rear strut and is rubbing against my tire. I am very fortunate this did not happen at 65 mph. The front springs are covered by a recall but the rear springs are not. Why??? this is the same safety problem that the front spring had. I now have to have my tire replaced and I can't drive my car.

(1) recall on the front coil springs but not the rear springs . (2) l rear coil spring broke and cut into the rear tire causing a blow out .

Own a 2000 Taurus ses with 68,000 miles. While the car was parked in garage, my wife and I just got home with our pick up, we got out of the truck and we heard a loud shot like noise. I looked around under the Taurus and found that the right rear coil spring fractured. Having a family we were thankful that we were not driving it at the time.
