The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the engine stalled as the check engine and the oil warning lights illuminated. The contact maneuver to shoulder of the road and as the contact inspected the vehicle, it immediately ignited into flames from under the passenger side hood. The fire department extinguished the fire and the entire vehicle was burned. A police/fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 158,000.
