The contact owns a 2002 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that fuel fumes were present in and around the vehicle. The contact noticed a fuel leak underneath the vehicle and that the fuel pump had fractured in half. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the fuel pump, filter, and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 178,000.
