39 Suspension problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 01/21/2021

Had the rear toe link recall performed about 2 weeks ago. Finally decided to look and the old links are still on the car. Emailed pictures to service advisor early morning called a few mins later said he get them to his gm manager ASAP. Never got a response decided I'd swing by on my way home. Asked what the deal was. Said they hadn't had a chance to look at it yet. Askek, can I at least have something saying it's safe to drive with these old recalled links they denied the request. Said maybe Ford changed the part and it's not what you think it should look like. Asked assistant service manager to look at the links. Explained the weld that hold the rod and bushing together is what's breaking. The new part has no weld and is once piece. She says she's not sure but it doesn't look like a new part. 73k miles of road grime still on it looking like the rest of the suspension. Well I get home and she calls me. Said I was right that is the old part and the new one is suppose to be a one piece. I say great. But she's wondering why the tech might have penciled whipped the safety recall or if possibly it was a error put my paper work clearly has notes from the tech stating toe links were replaced and alignment was performed to be in spec and test drove care and is in spec. They wanted me to come in first thing Friday morning but I can't miss more work due to there errors so Saturday is the soonest she says okay. A friend told me to fill this out. I'm not sure what I really expect from this but if it saves it from happening to someone else that doesn't know what to look for. It can save a life.

46 Suspension problem of the 2016 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 08/06/2020

I took my car to dean sellers Ford with a premature right rear bearing failure that was covered by the warranty on my 2016 Taurus sho. While at the dealer, I was informed that the toe rear toe link required replacement. On June 12, 2019, Ford media center issued issue a memo "Ford motor company issues four safety recalls" which indicated that the "affected vehicles include 2010-2017 Ford Taurus vehicles built at the chicago assembly plant, July 2, 2009-may 25, 2017. " this included my 2016 Taurus sho, but the dealer had no knowledge of the recall and has now charged me for the replacement of the recall item. Also, I'm concerned that the replacement toe link was not the hardened replacement part and was the original oem part that is prone to failure. The failure of this part can be catastrophic and cause loss of control of the vehicle.

49 Suspension problem of the 2014 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/26/2020

We were returning to our farm from a trip to town. The cruise control was set at the 70mph speed limit. A recent construction project gave us a newly paved road. It was a beautiful sunny day with no wind and temps in the low 80's. We were enjoying the ride and noted what an improvement the newly paved road was. Without warning the tires began squealing and the control characteristics of our Taurus changed dramatically. The steering became labored (I believe from the automated anti lock and traction control systems engageding). My attempt to compensate for the violent change in vehicle operation and regain control were quickly futile. We succumbed to the laws of motion spinning hopelessly out of control across the oncoming lane into the opposite ditch at a high rate of speed. Miraculously we there was no oncoming traffic and we didn't plunge into the myriad of steep terrain conditions common on this stretch of highway. We did not roll but came violently to rest on the far upslope of the opposite roadside ditch. My later research for the cause of our sudden loss of control produced the NHTSA recall no. :20v-072 which identified the rear toe link on certain Ford models as subject to failure. I later confirmed the driver side rear toe link had snapped on our Taurus and was the cause of our accident.

52 Suspension problem of the 2013 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/15/2020

Rivertown Ford has claimed to inspect the rear toelink and could not have considering I've felt the rear end trailing from time to time and noticed upon inspection deployed by myself visually that the driver side toelink had been cracking. When I notified Ford by phone the dealership at that time brushed me off when I finally talked them into at least doing a multi point inspection that I paid for they claimed they hadn't noticed anything. They then and since then refuse to even look at the suspension without a 300$ fee. (2 the other instance is after receiving damage to my passenger side fender and obtaining a "short" in my bcm I started to get immoberlizer messages. P161-2a incorrect message from immobilizer. I diagnosed the issue with my laptop and obd2 passthru device and after seeing the issue was from pats which by the way isn't even present in the 2013-19 Ford police interceptor sedans Ford again wanted 400$ to"diagnose" the vehicle in which I had communicated with the supervisor trying to confirm my fear of paying the amount will they be able to at least repair or be further along. They informed me that they couldn't even fix or program the issue if this is the case. After they instructed me to tow it there and having my vehicle for approximately 2 weeks they again trying to receive more money and claims of probably not going to be able to fix it by the service tech I refused to pay for any ridiculous claims of not being able to program their own Ford I then had to get the vehicle towed back to my house and after 2 months I still have the same message after pcm and bcm replacement (2 separate instances) dates are for toelink issue pats is a current issue.

66 Suspension problem of the 1995 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 06/11/2017

This past Sunday, on June 11, 2017 I was driving home from a graduation party and there was a loud "pow" once I accelerated from a stop. My steering was very stiff (as if I was driving an ancient large truck with no power steering, also my exhaust system at least partially came undun. I was able to get the crippled car to our regular repair shop, who told me that I had a subframe rust-collapse. I had talked to a shadetree mechanic friend, who said that it wasn't an actual subframe collapse, but the next layer up, the engine cradle whose sleeves are no thicker steel than the unibody sheetmetal. One of the sleeves rusted through. Supposedly the engine cradle sleeves are removable/or the cradle itself. My mechanic friend and the tow fellow that brought my car back to my home, both said that what happened is quite rare, they never heard of such an incident. The cradle rust through caused my front subframe to partially collapse and the engine is tilted down on the right-front. This disconnected the exhaust and bound-up my rack-and-pinion steering, rendering the car unsafe to drive. This car is not a rust-bucket, no rusty body panel holes, and everything else still works! just the paint and clearcoat are flaking-off. I have looked on the internet and searched local salvage yards, but cannot find a good engine cradle/sleeves. Yet, there are scads of good Taurus engines cheaply available. Why didn't Ford offer replacement engine cradle/sleeves? was there no recall? I'd bet I'm not the only person this happened to!! I would like to get this car fixed! I have photos of the subframe fallen after the engine cradle failure. Please send me an e-mail address I can upload them to. I lose this page if I try to upload here (4th time!).

69 Suspension problem of the 2003 Ford Taurus

Failure Date: 04/23/2016

After the driving my car on April 22 (a Friday), I parked the car for the evening. On April 23, 2016 (a Saturday morning), I came outside to find my 6-mo. -old left front tire flat after sitting overnight. A friend took off the tire and it was discovered that the strut spring was broken. I had the car towed to my mechanic on April 25, where it was determined that the strut spring was indeed broken, and I had it replaced. Research and talking with others brought to light a recall for this exact issue on vehicle years 1998-2001, however, other drivers were reporting the same problem with newer models of the same vehicles. This claim is for reimbursement of the cost of replacing only the broken left strut spring (a quick strut) and the tow to the garage.
