For the past 2-3 year, when attempting to turn the steering wheel left or right, vehicle looses power steering. Took the car into Ford dealership, while under warranty, and was repeatedly told by service tech, mechanic did not notice a problem. Vehicle shudders when backing up and struggles to shift gears when accelerating on highway. Abs brake system kicks in for no apparent reason when driving. Grinding noise coming from rear wheel on drivers side when driving the vehicle. Took car to mechanic and was told no power steering, need ball bearing replacement and need new/ rebuilt transmission. Completely disgusted as the car is only 7 years old. Why cant similarly situated owners of the Ford Taurus-x seem to get the NHTSA to take any real action on our behalf? I'm confused. Please help!!!.

While turning into traffic, the car suddenly decelerates as if someone is putting on the brakes, or more like the car is dropped into the lowest gear possible. After the car is brought to a complete stop it resumes normal operations. This happened three or four times. The dealer couldn't find the problem. I pointed out a service bulletin in reference to this problem but since performing the software update it has happened again. The car literally grinds to a stop, or one out two miles an hour, in the middle of traffic almost causing an accident or serious injury.

Transmission failed on 2001 Ford Taurus at 41,000 mile. Transmission was rebuilt and began failing again at 77,000 miles. Car began vibrating around 45 mph until 60 mph, Ford dealership took it for a test ride and said there was nothing wrong and I should get new tires. Now at 97,000 miles the transmission has failed again. Slips out of gear when driving, slips on the upshift, clunks on the downshift. When dealership was notified of vibration car was still under warranty, now that it has failed completely there is no longer a warranty.

The consumer noticed water leaking in the front passenger side every time it rains. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, but the mechanic could not duplicate the problem. Also, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle vibrated uncontrollably, and the consumer was unable to shift the gears. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, however, the mechanic was not able to duplicate the problem. There was a leak in the passengers floor, fumes and or odors from the water leakage, the transmission would stall out while in motion, the overdrive was not working properly, the blower motor made noises and was not blowing properly and the transmission jerked. The consumer requested a refund.
