Four problems related to brake disc caliper have been reported for the 1996 Ford Windstar. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake calipers failed by getting stuck with the brake pad contacting the disc, causing premature brake pad wear. Mechanic reported seeing identical failures of this make and model.
Caliper bolts fell off of vehicle.
When applying brakes vehicle will not stop, usually takes about 2 car lengths before it stops. But it can also vary, depending on the speed. Dealer has replaced brake pads 3 times/7 times rotors and calipers. This has to be done usually every 1500-3000 miles defect is occurring.
Abs problems; when applying the brakes on normal road conditions there is a grinding sound and the pedal goes to the floorbroad, and more stopping distance is required. Dealer stated that the brake calipers were missing and were replaced under warranty. Consumer is still experiencing a braking problem.
