While we were driving to church this morning the abs light came on. On our way home from church, it came on again and so did the track off light. This is very frustrating considering this van only has 151,000!.
Abs light is on before changing brakes. After changing, it went off for a few days and is now back on.
Abs light went on after getting wet due to rain on the pavement. Apparently has shorted out something. From what I've read, this is a common problem. Also, the dash light representing a turn signal burn out went on, but the turn signals are all functioning properly.
The abs light came on and stays on. The mechanics think it is a bad solder joint in the ecu master relay. My abs brakes no longer work because of a bad solder joint that failed prematurely!.
Gauges go crazy and don't work half the time. Abs light is always on. Steering creeks. There is a recall for my make, model, and year but Ford somehow says it is not part of the recall but may become a recall in the future. This is not acceptable. Does someone have to die before they will listen and act?.
I started my van and the abs warning light came on and has stayed on.
Abs warning light came on and remained on. Was told by mechanic that it was a bad sensor on the left front brake and that the brakes operated correctly.
The (mostly un-serviceable) ecu master relay has a bad soldier joint which fails prematurely and causes the abs light and dtc c1185. It also causes the enhanced abs braking system to become inoperable. If your abs light is on.
In June of 2012 the abs light began to intermittently come on. Repair shop replaced the relays and the light stayed off until October 2012. Repair shop replaced the abs control unit. Again this fixed the intermittent light, however, within a few months the light was coming on this time shortly after the car was started and staying on. It currently comes on when I start the car and stays on. I don't know if the abs breaking system is actually working. The breaks do work, but there are so many other issues with this vehicle that as long as I can stop the car I ignore the abs light. I now want to know if there is a recall for this. The car only has 97500 miles on it and has been garaged kept for the last 77500 miles. I got this as a company car at 19000 miles and purchased it from my company at 75000 miles.
Abc light appeared - loss of brake peddle reset after turning off the engine in June of 2012 abs light can on - garage replaced abs module then in August abs light can on waiting on a second used abs module.
Abs light continues to flash o and off.
Abs light on, c1185.
Abs light continues to come on.
Abs light on the dash.
Abs light turn on and off while driving. Most of the time when I started the car the abs light is off, but after driving may be 10 to 15 miles, the abs light will turn on and stay on until I turn off the engine. Sometimes abs light is on after I start the car. When I took it to mechanic, the light is off, and he couldn't find the problem. It is so frustrated.
My abs light never goes off. We have replaced brakes etc and the abs light continues to stay on.
I brought this vehicle on 1/7/2012 from a Ford dealership and the abs light would come on after starting and I asked them to check before I brought it and they said it was just a sensor, so when I took it to the Ford repair for the two recalls of the rear axle bracket and subframe and they checked the car and said the abs module needed to be replaced because the relay inside was damaged. I called Ford and they stated that the recall for the abs wire was done on 10/2011, but the module still went or went before that and they stated that they are not responsible and it was up to me to replace.
Abs light on intermittently. Researched internet and found this to be all-too common. This is usually caused by a bad solder joint(s) in the abs electronic control module located on the abs module (hydraulic). Worst of all, Ford gets to profit from our misery, since they can sell you a new part to fix their own inferior part.
Abs light stays on! abs system does not operate!.
Abs light will not go out.
Abs light comes on randomly and the abs does not work.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that the abs warning light was continuously illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic but the mechanic could not read the codes from the test. The contact did not take the vehicle to dealer and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 165,000.
Abs light came on. Since that time it comes on every once in a while and now daily after going for few miles.
The abs light began coming on intermittently for no known reason; gradually it has been on more. In recent weeks, have also begun having problems with the speed control working only intermittently, and last week the speedometer stopped working incorrectly; the highest speed it registers is 28-29 mph, even though I know I'm going faster. The windshield wipers now suddenly work only on low or, if turned up to the highest possible setting, they go half speed. Two weeks ago a brake set up for no known reason, to the point that I smelled 'burning. ' I stopped to investigate when traffic allowed and could see nothing wrong. I drove to a hospital where son was working and he investigated and found the frozen-up brake. He was able to eventually get it freed up. A vehicle that once was a very dependable workhorse has suddenly become erratic and downright scary.
The abs light comes on at different times, different speeds, and different weather conditions, although wet conditions and bumpy roads seem to guaranteed it comes on.
Abs light keeps coming on when driving vehicle.
My 2000 Ford Windstar van has frequent and intermittent problems with the abs light coming on and eventually going off; the cruise control not working sometimes even after it was repaired by the dealer; and the gauges in the instrument panel (including the speedometer) erratically malfunctioning. I have been told that these are common problems with Ford Windstar and may be subject to recalls. (even though the mileage is high, I replaced the transmission and engine with a brand new transmission and a brand new engine in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Only less than 50,000 miles on the vehicle since 2006. ).
2000 Ford Windstar owner, recently had the abs warning light come on, mechanic did on-board computer diagnostic and found the abs control module inoperative. Replacement cost in CA is over $1000. Vehicle only has 57,000 miles on the odometer. Add me to the list of people wanting Ford motor CO. To do the right thing.
Abs warning light randomly illuminates and extinguishes. This behavior is more frequent in cold weather.
Abs light still on after previous 09s09 recall work done. Braking distance suddenly increased.
My 2000 Ford Windstar has bee having problems with the abs. Over the past few weeks the brakes have occasionally made a high pitched noise that sounds like metal grinding together. I also happened to be driving down the road the other day and the brakes decided to activate themselves without me pressing them. The abs light also came on on the dash. I was unable to move forward because this made me come to a complete stop. I then turned off the vehicle and turned it back on. The light then went out and I was able to continue on my way. This has happened several times since then. Ford needs to issue a recall on the abs.
Intermediate yellow abs warning light. Goes on and off at random. Hard braking sometimes causes light to come on. At other times, it just comes on. My dealer had my 2000 Ford Windstar for 3 days and said they could not find a problem. It continues to do this and my wife is concerned as this is our family vehicle.
Abs light on intermittently. Instrument panel gauges erratic sometimes. Cruise control not functional at times.
Ford Windstar 2000 abs light came on. Reading the codes said c1185 power relay failure. Happens frequently over the last 9 months, gets worse when it is hot. Restart of the vehicle clears the light, but it eventually will come on unexpectedly.
Normal driving conditions, hot weather. The abs and trac lights on the instrument panel light up. Abs and trac are disabled, suddenly and unexpectedly increasing braking distance. In cooler weather, the systems seem to be working. No repairs have been done yet.
