My speedometer is erractic, my abs light stays on.
Instrument panel/speedometer fails va inspection. Ford won't fix it. Parts hard to find as anyone with this model vehicle has the same problem.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, he noticed that the instrument panel was not reading the correct readings. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 170,000 and the current mileage was 180,000. Updated 08/07/lj the consumer stated the needle would jump from left to right. Updated 08/15/12.
Massively erratic behavior of the instrument cluster. All of the gauges; the speedometer and rpm gauges, heat and all just jump rapidly up and down. Sometimes they give false indicators. The heat meter arm goes up when it is not hot. It's really scary. It's been going on for weeks. It doesn't happen often and I am not sure why it happens. This is a minivan I. E. A family car. I cannot wait to get rid of this car. I'll never buy a Ford again.
Last week as I was driving around town and my instrument panel stopped working and the abs lights would not turn off. The next morning I had to take my son to one of his activities and the instrument panel was still not working and I noticed I had to push the brake pedal all the way down to the floor. I went home and noticed that my car was leaking brake fluid. After much research I found my vehicle had a recall. (09s09) I took my car in this morning to have this recall fixed. This did not fix my instrument panel. After I got home I researched what the problem might be and have found numerous complaints about the same problem from brake fluid leaking on the some of the wires. I contacted Ford to see if this would be covered under the recall and they explained to me that the recall only covers that specific part. I am very upset because the recall will only cover the part and not the damage it has caused. I would like to file this complaint to make a record of this. I truly believe that Ford should fix the damage that this recalled part has done to my vehicle.
I own a 2000 Ford Windstar. I have recently had my abs brake light go on and stay on, along with my traction control light also staying on and finally, my speedometer no longer works above 40 km per hour. All of these happened exactly the same time. I took it into Ford and they are saying I need a new abs module but after reading about their abs recall issues and much written about how this problem is very common, I am inclined to think Ford should fix this problem. Hence my complaint to you guys.
No odometer or speedometer and abs light on.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact noticed that the electrical fuse that illuminates the instrument panel and other components fails whenever the vehicle is started. There were no warnings prior to this failure. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The current and failure mileages were 100,000.
The speedometer, odometer and cruise control didn't work. The brake light would stay on. I searched the internet and discovered a fix ie) the brake pressure deactivation switch needed to be replaced. I changed it and replaced fuse #10. The total cost was $37. 30 cdn - receipts available upon request.

I searched the internet and discovered a fix ie) replace the brake pressure deactivation switch. I had to buy a new switch and a new fuse. Its now fixed. Loud thunk suddenly then car wouldn't go forward, transmission no good had it rebuilt 92000 miles, cigarette lighter /power point fuse constantly blowing,odometer/speedometer fuse blowing twice so far,abs light intermittently going on.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that the speedometer, fuel and temperature gauges were providing inaccurate readings. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer was contacted in regards to the failure. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the instrument panel would need replacing but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 125,000 and the current mileage was 201,453.
Abs light would come on and stay on minutes after getting into car. Approx 6mo. To a year the cruise control went out. Now the speedometer quit working and the odometer went out. The air cond blows but no cold air. Looked on the internet for solutions and found that alot of people were having the same problem. Some incidents the brake fluid was dripping down and causing a fire. Hopefully there will be a recall. I will probably try to get the abs sensor on the master cylinder replaced.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that the speedometer and odometer were dysfunctional and the abs light illuminated when the vehicle was started. Brake fluid also leaks underneath the master cylinder. The vehicle has not been serviced by a dealer. The powertrain and mileages were unknown.
I have a 2000 Ford Windstar. Abs light comes on intermittently and the speedometer moves fast to the right intermittently. Has been serviced for a recall less than 6 mos ago for cruise control. The above we have lived with but now the brakes are not working properly, intermittently. When pressing on brakes, the car rolls a bit more than stops.
2000 Ford Windstar with multiple manufacturer defects. Consumer states these are some of the problems windshield washer fluid pump failure, reverse sensor system failure, brake light switch is sticking and more. The message center started to read error when displaying the outdoor temperature. The consumer found one of the male prongs on the sensor plug had corroded and broken off, which indicated that the sensor plug was not adequately protected from moisture. One of the coolant lines to the rear heater corroded and failed at the point where it crossed under the frame at the rear of the vehicle. The check engine light illuminated. The mechanic stated the engine was running lean due to an air leak. The coolant crossover tube sprang a leak.
