Abs system goes off and on, intermittently with no warning.
Brake pressure switch burnt out while drive only three miles from home. Brake fluid began to leak out and created smoke and fumes. Took van to repair shop who replaced the switch and informed me of the defect on other Ford makes, but said that currently the 2000 Windstar was not on the list. Auto shop has old part, but may have thrown it out by now.
The brake pressure differential deactivation switch (2b264) leaks.
Sudden increase in stopping distance.
I have had to fix the abs twice and I am dealing with the problem again this would be the third time I also have had problems with the doors locks I have to hand lock my van.
The contact owns a 2000 Ford Windstar. While attempting to stop the vehicle at 50 mph, the brake pedal extended completely to the floor. The contact had to apply the emergency brake in order to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred repeatedly. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. No repairs were made. Abs has been on for years.
: the contact stated while driving 40 mph on normal road conditions, and avoiding to hit a deer, the sub frame of the engine manifold fell out. The vehicle had to be towed to an independent body shop, who determined that the sub frame rusted completely and needed to be replaced. The dealer was contacted, who determined that the VIN # did not fit under any recall. The vehicle was currently at the body shop waiting for repairs. The ball joints and brakes were replaced as well. The abs (yellow) light started coming on intermittently and the code c1185 is detected. After several months the light stopped being intermitent and is now on constantly. The van now has 185k miles and a perminate yellow light on the dashboard.
: the contact stated the speedometer, odometer, and air conditioner failed. The vehicle was taken to a dealership who replaced the fuse. This problem reoccurred and the fuse was replaced multiple times. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership, who determined the brake pressure switch was leaking. Failure of abs control system. Component replacement costs are unreasonable and prohibitive. New electrical modules are reported to inherit original design flaw and inevitable same stress-related failure.
Brake pedal went to the floor when attempting to slow down on a hill. Vehicle eventually stopped. This is not the first occurrence.
When the driver applied the brake the pedal went all the way tot he floor.
The front disc brakes started vibrating with about 15000 miles on the vehicle. The dealer/service dept. Inspected and reported some possible warping had started.
2000 Ford Windstar, on numerous occasions while on a hill,the brake pedal went to the floor and the vehicle would not stop. Pulled emergency brake, but was not in time to stop vehicle from crashing into dumpster and causing extensive rear end damage. Dealer was unable to locate reason for failure, still having braking difficulties when on incline and backing. Date given is estimate, paper work at home.
