36 Carrier/rack problem of the 2003 Ford Windstar

I have a 2003 Ford Windstar that has been owned by my family since it left the line. I was notified of a recall to the control arms in 2011 and took my vehicle to the dealer. In June 2012 I was driving home from work and had just turned on my street when I heard a loud bang and my car would barely more. When it happened I thought that my engine had hit the ground. I luckily was one house away from home( I had just gotten off the expressway traveling 70 miles an hour. ) as I limped my way into the drive way I thought that maybe I had a flat the way that my car was driving. However when I got out of the car my entire drivers side of the car was less than an inch from the ground. After having it towed to a shop I was told that my strut (spring) had jumped off the mount. I was told there was nothing wrong with the strut (spring) but that it had jumped the mount. Needless to say when Ford was contacted I was told that they were not responsible. This is very wrong given there was extentsive damage done to the control arm and it pulled the tie-rod end out of the passenger side. There were no issues with the front end and I feel that the brackets that were installed due to the recall may have shifted the strut and caused the damage. But Ford would not have anything to do with the matter .

37 Carrier/rack problem of the 2000 Ford Windstar

Abs light comes on and off while driving, cruise control does not work, speedometer and rmp guage goes crazy and stops working, leaking break fliud but can't seem to locate problem, interior lights flicker on and off, door locks will start going up and down while driving, rear passenger door does not close all the way and will sometime pop out but not completely open while driving, makes noise when turing left I had the rack and pinion changed but that did not solve the problem the noise just got worse.

38 Carrier/rack problem of the 2000 Ford Windstar

Failure Date: 04/16/2012

Work was performed on the sub frame of the 2000 Ford Windstar referenced above on April 16, 2012, as a result of a Ford recall notice, number: 11s16. The recall description is as follows: "corrosion-related fractures of the front lower control arm rear attaching brackets and body mount attachments may occur. A separation of a front lower control arm rear attaching bracket may result in a lower control arm separation. A separation of both front subframe rear body mounts may result in separation of the steering intermediate shaft. Either condition could result in significant loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. " the work done on April 16, 2012 was performed by sheehy Ford in gaithersburg, MD. Who installed new brackets on the sub frame, to prevent the sub frame from breaking and/or eroding. At the time, there was a great deal of advanced rusting on the sub frame. On August 30, 2014, the car was taken back to sheehy Ford, after loud knocking noises could be heard under the hood. Sheehy Ford looked at the car, consulted with their technicians and reported back on September 4, 2014 that the sub frame had rusted through. The sounds coming from the car were due to the unstable sub frame, which holds the parts of the car in place. They also advised the car was unsafe to drive. After an additional review, sheehy Ford concluded that the previous work in April of 2012 was sufficient to hold the sub frame. They have since held fast to their claim that no further "programs" are available to be able to repair the current problem of a rusted sub frame in the car. A complaint was also made through Ford motor company customer service center. They took the complaint and provided a case number 5190828l6x2x4x, but ultimately their decision is the same as sheehy: no other programs are available to cover the cost of any additional repair to the car. 1/5/15.

39 Carrier/rack problem of the 2003 Ford Windstar

About March of 2012 my 2003 Ford wind star's lower control arm separated from the sub frame "engine cradle". I took my van to dealer. They did do a repair to sub frame, which I did not find satisfactory, Ford corp. Had them cut off what was left of any damaged brackets and clamp steel brackets onto a sub frame that is already damaged due to heavy rust and corrosion. Now about one year later "March of 2013" the sway bar mount, which is part of the sub frame has rusted out. Making driving very unsafe and unstable. This problem should have been rectified when the recall was done in 2012. I took van back to the dealer. They sent pictures to Ford corp. Ford did not approve any repairs to sub frame stating that it was not part of original recall. Now how is that possible if the sub frame and sway bar mount are all one component. It's all one welded piece of steel. There is no fix at this time but to replace the sub frame. Now if the sub frame is under recall and the sway bar mount is part of the sub frame, then I feel Ford should rectify the problem. I plan on keeping my Ford wind star for a while. I feel this is a serious safety issue and really needs to be delt with. Ford should cover this component or they get away with an unsatisfactory fix and I still have to pay for a new sub frame, which was the whole issue to begin with.

40 Carrier/rack problem of the 1998 Ford Windstar

First the interior light stay on and blinds driver at night the dash lights for door open shows all 4 door are open but they are closed. In addition the spare tire hoist will not go up and being that this part is not used but for emergencies and proper storage of an emergency item I feel the part should last for many yrs.
