Rear axle . Fell on the highway split in half while I was driving on a state hwy 71 at 45 mph. Cracked rear axle. 2002 Ford Windstar part of a recall for rear axle. No warning was given and didn't know about the recall until after it happened. Inspection was preformed by a mechanic. I could have flipped or rolled or caused a major collision as this highway is very heavily traveled.
The driver and passenger side sliding doors tend to not open or close correctly sometimes you have to manually pull them open or they do not completely close and you have to bump the back end of it to close right.
Sliding rear door drivers side opened own it's own while I was driving. Would not close, kept reopening, had to muscle closed. It has continued to happen frequently. I have seen many complaints on the year, model, for this issue. Why has there been no safety recall done? this is very dangerous. I have not taken for repairs, I have a very modest ss income and jut can not afford that. Car can be inspected at any time.

The rear axle split/broke while driving 5 mph turning onto a street. Both wheels are now rubbing against the frame.
The axle on the back driver's side is terribly rusted to the point of no repair. The mechanic stated it is a recall problem and needs to be taken to the Ford dealer. He also stated that it is dangerous to drive due to the problems that it was causing the wheel to not fit or stay on correctly causing it to rub on the vans surface causing a blowout and making driving almost impossible and dangerous. Thank god my son drove it and not myself. Thank god that he is okay. This problem needs to be dealt with ASAP. I am a foster mom and drive children in this van and it definitely needs to be inspected for the problems and repaired. My son was on his way to put gas into the vehicle when this happened. The kids and I were going to hit the highway and go to a food pantry in the adjoining city. Thank god we didn't. This all happened while my son took the car to put gas in before the kids and I were to leave out. We had already stated that the wheel wasn't fitting on well and decided to take it to the mechanic. The mechanic told us there was nothing he could do because of the corrosion and then informed us about the recall on the vehicle and the problems this model was having with the axles and rust and corrosion and other problems. Thank god this was on a city street and at the time there was little traffic, otherwise it could have been a dangerous mess.

Rotted rear axle beam , 2002 Ford Windstar , this vehicle was taken to a near by town Ford dealership : ace motors in woodbury NJ , for the rear axle recall in 2015 not sure if anything has been repaired or not I was just told by the dealership that the vehicle was inspected and passed and ok to drive but when the axle broke on the driver side I took pitchers and it looks like someone has put on some kind of slave clamps on both sides of the axle that I don't see on other Ford Windstar Mini vans ( see pitchers ) called up the dealership ace motors and they said to bring it up to them and they will have a look at it and maybe it can be put in a claim ticket but again maybe not , it's hard enough to put on a flatbed tow truck with the damage that it has and if some reason they don't put a claim ticket in I can't afford to keep towing this vehicle all over the place so dealership gave me the Ford I. N. C company phone number : 800-392-3673 , so I called them and more less they told me there is nothing they can do , one thing I'm happy about is we was going slow in my home town pulling off the main road onto a side road heading to the house when it happened and nobody got heart when it happened even though it was so loud and nosy think it broke a shook and brake lines . 8 / 8 / 2019.

2002 Ford Windstar. Consumer writes in regards to safety recall notices never received for vehicle.
Subframe is completely rusted through and will not pass the safety. The vehicle was treated by the recall 11s16-s4. In 2012. I went for a voluntary safety check and the vehicle stayed at the service as very unsafe to drive.
Rear axle assembly snapped yet our VIN is not on recall list. This was not due to any accident or damage on our behalf this was simple daily in town five miles driving then snapped and not usable. We were driving and turned left and. Or even two blocks the vehicle made a snap sound almost like a popped tire. Both tired are inward and the vehicle ian now parked due to the snapping of this.
The transmission wont go into drive. When it does, it shifts very hard and at every stop sign it goes out of gear again.
The sweigh bar links have been replaced twice. Breaks and rosters too! the tires are new with inlinement and rotation done! I have went through several sets of tires! the vehicle just doesn't drive correctly! the vehicle is also missing with no found reason and will randomly die! it feels very lose and unsafe on the road! the coil pack, plugs and plug wires replaced! all new fluids including antifreeze, break fluid, power steering fluid, oil and transmission fluid! the air filter and other filters! new fuel pump and it's still not right! break light comes on and off and emergency break isn't set nor is it low on fluid! new breaks and caliber and rotor! seriously have invested slot of money in this vehicle! also motor for windows being replaced now! gage hand will periodically go all the way to the right the after a few seconds go back to normal! this started in April of 2017 and is still continuing.
My Mini van lights would flicker while I'm driving and even after replacing the starter in the car, it still turns off while I'm driving. There's rust coming from under the car, I smell a burnt smell when I'm driving. I'm having electrical issues, my car stops when it wants to in the middle of the highway, . . It makes noises when I'm turning, I have rust coming from under my car. The signal lights flicker. While driving the windshield washer, seat belt, and door ajar warning lights flash on and off. While this is happening the wiper blades stop working, front brake rotors is causing steering wheel to shimmy when the brakes are applied. Now when I turn my wheel to the left, it makes this loud nose. What is that?!.
Replaced water pump had started for about 10 minutes shut off tried to start it the next day avert nothing no clicking or humming or anything all the dashboard lights came on even I tried to start it and threw headlights are really bright but however they do not come on when I try and start my van there is a very faint clicking noise coming from the fuse box inside the van. Over drive flashing off and on will not go off. Fuses blow out right after you start up the van. It started when I made a turn at a green light. On the back roads.
On Friday, June 23rd, the 2000 Ford Windstar was parked in the lot of meijers at 8650 west grand river Ave, brighton, mi 48116 for approximately a duration of 40 minutes. Upon returning to the vehicle, it was discovered that there was fire from inside my van that appeared. By standards contacted 911 and fire dept and police had responded. The fire was distinguished and reports were made out. The fire inspector indicated that it was an electrical short that was the accelerant ignition point. This is a very serious matter that presented a safety issue for my 9-year-old daughter and me. Ford motor company needs to take full responsibility for this incident. Please advise. Sincerely, scott c.
The aframe broke off the subframe.
We got a recall on our Ford Windstar for the rear axle. The axle snapped while we were driving and we contacted yankee Ford in south portland in so. Portland me. And we had aaa tow it there jame at Ford motor company approved the axle to be replaced and yankee Ford replaced it and now Ford won't pay for it and we haven't had a vehicle for 3-4 weeks. Yankee Ford is 207-799-5591 and ask for dan brubach. The state of maine attorney general's office tracy thompson 207-626-8851 said I should make a complaint through you. We could have been killed. We can't have our vehicle now as the part had been put on and Ford says that this jame never had the authority to request. This . She had spoken with ernie bodman 1-207-799-5591 and authorized it. We are beyond upset and would like to have our vehicle. Yankee has tried but Ford won't pay them. We were on the road when it happened. Luckily we weren't on a highway. Yankee Ford has the pictures that was taken when jame requested them. Dan brubach spoke with randy arnoldi who is the service manager for the boston and above division and randy said most likely it wouldn't be paid. It is not our fault jame approved the work to be done. It had been a federal recall. The last recall was sent out in Feb. It said but we didn't get it until March.
Took vehicle to dealership for brake examination (abs light came on) and service advisor told that there were corrosion holes in rear axle and it was not safe to drive!!! should have been recalled by Ford and repaired at their expence as I was told it has been dangerous to drive for some time. . .
As I was backing out of a parking spot at the gas station my rear axle broke into two.
Takata recall uncontrollable driving with steering rear end fishtailing.
2003 Ford Windstar rear axle broke while driving on highway leaving car and driver stranded on bridge. Driver was very lucky not to be hurt. Car had previous recalls performed by Ford on sept 4, 2012 as recall numbers 10s13 and 11s16, both done at same time. However these recalls were not effective as axle still broke on or about Dec 2, 2016. Dealer indicates axle can not be replaced under recall because recall expired on Dec 31, 2015. Ford customer service gave same reply. Ford dealer in glenn burnie, MD. Is replacing axle at an estimated $1,300. 00. Problem is, the new axle will probably be the same part as the original and still poses the threat of breaking again. These cars should be recalled as several deaths have already occurred.
Yes I contacted Ford about the recall on the rear axle they said I dont have a recall on my van but my rear axle just split.
Rear axle brakets-the braket was reinforced about 2yrs ago and for the 2nd time Ford is saying that maybe was reforced wrong, try make appoint. To confirm if they were done correctly or not and now nobody call back to make an appointm. Or when they can look into and if I want the work done I can $300 to replace it on top the letter was receive last week of sept. And due date to replace for that price is October 31st. Why not mail airlier when dealers always are so busy?, contact the 866 ph and they say mostly the letter was for to replace it for $300. I need somebody check first before make decisions, why am I have to pay without seen the car? in this website you don't show any recall, what's wrong with all of you people? please help.
Nftsa safety recall 15v-608 we had to pay Ford $300 or else they were not going to perform the recall work. Why should we have to pay anything at all for a recall which is a fault of Ford and not us at the owner? we are not happy at all with this situation but felt forced to pay for the safety of the driver and passengers of this vehicle.
