My Windstar 1999 has only 100,000 miles on it, less when I bought it, and at that time I was informed of the rear axel recall. I reviewed the data, concerning the safety recall which ends at the end of oct 2016 and was concerned about the safety of passengers and others if an accident should happen within the next 5-10 yrs,(which how long I hope to have this). Being informed I had my closest Ford dealership replace the rear, and they billed my $300. 00. . . . . . . This is wrong, I should be reimbursed.

Broken rear axle.
I was driving to work with my wife and as we were coming over a small hump the back axel snapped. If I had not been decelerating coming down the hill then I would not have been able to control the car and bring it to a stop.
I recently had my Windstar front end worked on by a local Ford dealer, who was supposed to take care of all recall issues. They did a crappy job of that and now the vehicle is sitting my driveway with the axle snapped in half. Had it towed to my home when it broke on the highway. This is not a safe vehicle and we were very lucky no-one got hurt.

I was driving on city street after exiting hiway and my van felt like it hit the ground there was alot of noise. My daughter starts crying she was really scared . Later a friend said my axle broke in two. I called fotd company and ask them how & why would an axle break. Needless to say they couldnt help me. Altho there was a recall for the very same vehicle for the very same reason. Rear axle breaking. Im totally confused . Please help.
My wife, daughter and granddaughter were in the van and it started to swerve a little back and forth, but the wife didn't know why. They made it home and I looked at it and saw that the rear axle was almost completely broke in half. We're lucky that it didn't go out of control while they were driving.

Vehicle currently at the dealership for more than two months awaiting from Ford customer relationship center to resolve the issue as the dealer wont fix the corroded sub frame instead they want the crc dept send the parts to them, according to crc dept they escalated the issue to the second level but no action until now has been taken. . . I feel that they're ignoring my request or has been sitting there without taking any action. We almost died on this as the passenger side wheel fell off. . I'm trying my luck if you can help us to resolve the issue with them. . . Thanks danilo zanoria-owner.
The Ford dealer just serviced two safety recalls, I. E. The engine subframe fracture and rear axle on the week on 3/7/2016. I immediately feel the car sway slightly at high speed. I thought it might be alignment issue, so didn't pay too much attention. On 3/29/16, the car sway badly especially when I brake, then I realize something serious wrong. I took a look of subframe and found out one mounting screw is missing, and a sway bar nut is missing and leaving the bolt hanging there. I brought the car back to dealer to get it repaired next day. Then on 4/3/16, my car caught on fire by itself while driving on highway.

The front subframe to which the engine and steering components are mounted is rusted to an extent that a dangerous accident could occur. Ford has issued recalls for the 1999 through 2003 models for this problem. Since my Windstar has the same problem as issued for the later models, I believe it should receive the same remedy. Since complete failure of the subframe has not yet occured, it is not possible to state whether it will occur whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion.

Van stalled while driving, had to be towed. Mechanic could not communicate with computer. Van is having an electrical short which keeps blowing fuse #22 in which van can not be started or driven. Safety hazard, Ford must recall van.
Leaving parking lot at work my car fully accelerated, lost steering and crashed into steel post. Inspection revealed both rear engine cradle mounts were completely rusted through causing rear engine cradle to drag on the ground. Which caused loss of steering, full throttle and crashed right front of vehicle.

Our van had a recall on the rear axle in 2010. The repair was made by an authorized Ford dealer. While returning from a weekend trip on October 4, 2015, and driving on a busy pennsylvania interstate, the rear axle broke in the exact spot of repair. I initially lost control of the car, but was able to guide it to shoulder of road. I subsequently learned there is an extended recall on the rear axle, as the initial repair may not have been correct. Car was inspected, and now Ford motors said they are not responsible. They will authorize a new axle at a discounted rate of $300. 00 to us, and we are responsible for replacing our shredded tire. We also must pay tow fees.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Ford Windstar. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle had stalled. The vehicle was able to restart. The brake and over drive indicators had illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000. Kc.
9-10-2015 after numerous attempt's to resolve recall I was driving to work on ritchie hwy and the rear axile which was one of the many recalls made me loose control of vehicle and once I gained control car was drivin to near supermarket parking lot and driver's side axile broke and car was disabled I later made it to work and was taken via ambulance to hospital onset panic attack. Contacted car ins and Ford customer service since 9-10-15 I was given case# cas7858636 not until 9/2016 I contacted Ford after numerous calls within 1 yr period spoke to christie and she explained me that customer service failed to contact me "sorry" then she contacted Ford bob bell service station and I towed car again with my money. And have yet to hear from them I almost died in this car and no one has made my experience good I know have anxiety and no car. . . . . . No rental.
Between my March 2015 oil change and my July 30 2015 oil change the control arms broke and completely ruined a tire all the way around the tire. Chewed it up very badly putting me at risk for an accident from a blow out or loss of control. I don't know exactly when the problem occurred. The problem was found by the shop at the oil change. I am finding online where there is much concern about the control arms on these vehicles. Both front lower control arms were replaced by the shop. The brought one of the tires into the lobby for me to see and it was absolutely chewed up all the way around the tire. It is a wonder I did not have an accident.
I was driving down on 896, in the left hand lane, when my 2000 Ford Windstar lx van stopped running. I was going about 50mph when all of a sudden it just stopped. (I did have some transmission slipping previously but it had stopped. ) (I thought that it was because the van hadn't been driven for about 4 months). I immediately put my hazards on and called the delaware state police. If this had happened on the interstate, I would have been killed. As it was. It happened this morning while I was on my way to work. I had people come flying up behind my vehicle and blowing their horn at me. Thankfully it was not rush hour otherwise I would not be here right now, which means my children would be motherless!.
On July 14, 2015 while driving the vehicle the engine literally fell out of the car onto the roadway and unable to steer. Vehicle was towed to champion Lincoln Mercury in brockton MA on that day. There was a recall #11s16 on March 11, 2011 for the subframe lower control arm rear attaching flanges rear body mounts. Vehicle was inspected and passed on may 31, 2011. It has been 4 months and Ford refuses to supply the necessary parts to fix my vehicle. I've attached all recall notices, repairs, inspections and pictures as requested. We could have been killed or caused serious damage to someone else as a result of this defect in my vehicle. Even the dealership is appalled at the treatment received in this matter. I would appreciate any help you may be able to provide in resolving this issue.
Sorry, about this but it is not a complaint. I want to ley you know that the cae discribed is not working anymore I sent it to the junk.
While driving down the highway my van van stopped accelerating and acted like I was in neutral. Luckily I had no cars behind me because I would have been rear ended if there had. My transmission went out and was told I need a new one at 2400 dollars. I had no gears forward or reverse but the van would still run and turn on fine. Had to have it towed. As a parent of four kids who regularly are in this van I am disappointed that Ford has not recalled these for safety with all of these complaints. Will it take someone dying for them to do something? I can definitely say I will not be buying a Ford again since they can't stick by there motor and make things right!.
Rear axil broke while driving down the road. It looks like it rusted through.
Tl- the contact owns a 2003 Ford Windstar. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission failed. The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000. Djr.
Last night at approximately 8:30 pm, a pleasant evening at about 65 degrees and a light rain; for no reason whatsoever the rear quarter (automated) window exploded on the drivers side. The glass was on the inside of the vehicles back and middle seats as well as in the driveway. Because I have seen several other complaints about this issue, I think this qualifies as a safety hazard because of the shards of glass flying everywhere; if there would have been anybody in the van this could have caused them serious injury. Ford motor company needs to be held accountable for this issue and back it up with action by finding and fixing the problem; or at the very least cover the cost of the damages.
I purchased this vehicle this morning, 4/29/15. I took it for a test drive last night, no problems. This morning when I left the house to get the title transferred and vehicle registered, the brake light came on. When I got to my destination and turned it off, then turned it back on, the light remained on, and the abs light came one. Neither will go off. I had a 1998 Windstar that I sold due to age but loved. I am not happy to have this issue the first day I own its replacement.
I'm having problems with a 2003 Ford winstar van I pirchased. The mileage is 081206. 3. The abs and brake lights are on and the sliding doors on both the driver and passenger will not open from the inside of the van. The doors on the sides and back are very hard to open from the outside as well. The cruise control will not turn off unless you hit the brakes. The seatbelt are making a horrible squeaking noise and don't really roll up right. I'd like to find out how to get a list of recalls for this vechile. To me these are major safety concerns that need to be addressed. Thank you.
I try to stop and the abs would not work.
The abs and brake light indicators turn on sporadically and remain on until the car is restarted. I have watched for some patterns, but seen few. Cooler weather keeps them off longer and when it is hotter out, then they turn on quickly. I might also drive the car for 30-45 minutes before they turn on, and when I restart the car, it is inconsistent on if they come back on or stay off. This has been happening for quite some time and is now happening more routinely than when it first started.
Corrected recall was not done effectively within two years of repaired recall beam axle failed at the end of the repaired area.
Abs system failure . Abs light remains on.
On this date, I was driving my vehicle at speed when the sub frame failed. This caused the steering to drop out, leaving me with no control of the vehicle. I narrowly missed an 18 wheeler doing a turn and got stopped. Ford had my vehicle for over 2 weeks, and didn't provide a rental vehicle for 10 days. Ford refused to cover the steering mechanism, even though it plainly says on theyre website that would be a consequence of sub frame failure. I have made over 30 phone calls to the dealer and Ford motor companys customer service hotline, and now the dealer is telling me my vehicle is fixed, but I have to pay for the parts put on, and a repair I did not pre-authorize. I am a disabled veteran, and I want someone to explain to me how a vehicle that was perfectably driveable before this happened is now being held hostage by a dealer until I come up with $140, because the mfgr part failed and almost caused me to be killed. The Ford case number is cas5540590 . Thanks for your time and attention.
I was on my way home from work, when my van started to shake and sound like I had a flat tire. I got out of the van and looked no flat. When I made it home I noticed that the back tire was leaning at an angle. I checked my lug nuts but they were tight. I looked under the van and seen that the axle brace was broken. I called Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673 they told me that the recall on the rear axle was fixed in 2010 and it didn't matter that it was the same problem they were not helping. This problem could have caused an accident. If there is a recall shouldn't it stay in effect until the problem is completely fixed no matter how many times it takes to correct the problem? when I asked if it had caused an accident if it would have been covered then they said no!.
Driving van hit small bump in road abs system comes on . Now l brake get hot due to abs control module coming on .
Transmission failure, van will not shift into any gear, forward, reverse, 2,1.
