Ford winstar model year 2000 with lowback driver's seat. The sheet metal seat back has cut through the foam padding and cloth seat. This leaves a sharp metal edge that cuts the drivers clothing, cuts (bleed) the driver and could impale the driver in an accident. This problem may be related to a known TSB for Windstars which have a "twisted" seatback metal work. It looks to me like poor design. The edge sticking out is sharp 90 angle and would not cut through the fabric of seat or injure driver if it had been stamped rounded instead.

Our 2000 Ford Windstar was rear-ended on i40 08/10/2000. Traffic slowed suddenly, cars were following too closely, struck the left side of the rear of our van at speed. The force of the collision caused the seat back to give way, pinning the legs of my 4 year old son between the seat and his car seat. He was uninjured, however, I suffered severe soft tissue injuries when the seat back collapsed. This could have been a very serious situation had my head struck my son.
Drivers seat back broke during rearend collision causing more severe injuries to drivers neck, back and arms than if it had not broken.

Rear seat latch injured the driver while removing the rear seat. Yh.
The driver seatback does not lock in postion which causes the seatback to move unexpectedly, and causes an accident.
Driver's side seat does not lock in place, resulting in the seat sliding backward and forward when driving, also, Ford has changed the design of the seat glide. Consumer has contacted the dealer.
Seat control (latch / switch) failed, resulting in loose seat.
The major complaint, the driver's seat, has been reported to both Ford motor company and the dealership - neither of whom has seen fit to acknowledge my existence on this planet. The seat will not adjust (lever apparently has a perpetual short) - which means I can't see comfortable over the steering wheel.
