Seats Problems of Ford Windstar

We woke up this morning to the driver's side completely burned and melted. It had been parked sinced Monday. Fire inspector said it was definitely an electrical issue coming from the seat.

The driver's seat has a sharp metal in the seat that pokes and tear into the left back pocket area. Ever since I had this car I discovered my pants have developed this "tear" . I found that my pants were being ripped in that general area and one day I felt this sharp area sticking my palm. It cannot be seen only felt so that is my complaint and I have over 10 pants that were ripped.

2002 Windstar recall I was driving down the road one day to find out all off all the shifters but neutral the van suddenly had stopped going we could not go in drive reverse or anything find out stuck in middle of intersection with cars coming our way this problem is still unknown.

During inspection inspecter 38573 reported a diagnostic fault as airbag control module. After failed inspection. I looked for part with the avail. Current part on vechile is 1f2a-14b321-ee. I cannot find a part number matching. I took it to a second mechanic to verify if he infact was right. And I looked at the dagnostic and the airbag did not show up however what did show up after airbag light came on after a full memory clear was code b234 which points to driver safety belt buckle switch short circuit to ground. Or in lames terms saftey belt buckle switch. This should never in a cars life ever happen. If this happened before a accident this could cause death to the consumer. Im the second owner of this vechile I believe so im not sure if theres a recall for this particular issue as I do know theres one similar. My reinspection is due within 6 days. I feel I shouldn't have to pay for a repair for a part on something that should never need to replaced. Especilly when lives are at stake.

After purchasing van, not even one month later all lights started to turn on engine, abs now n and its a rear light on guage panel also we are in the middle of trying to get decent price for the freeze plug withch also needs to be replaced because there is a leak of coolant from the bottom of van. Other wise its ok to drive. One I thing I didn't mention is the seat its struck it wont move back or forward with the electrical button.

The contact owns a 2001 Ford Windstar. The abs and service brake lights would illuminate intermittently on the instrument control panel. He installed new brakes shoes, which did not remedy the failure. He took the vehicle to the dealer, and a technician concluded that the control module failed. The repairs cost $1200. 00. Also the latch on the second row bucket seats have fractured. No repairs were made. The manufacturer was notified but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 131,000. The driverside seat replaced was replaced once. The seat back had warped and was uncomfortable for driving. While I am a large man, this is the first seat back that I have had to replace in any vehicle. The second seat back has been holding up so far. The first failed within the first year within 60,000 km and was replaced under warranty, but I am afraid that I will be paying for the repair when the second one fails.

While driving vehicle was involved in a side impact. Upon impact second row passenger seat unlatched from the floor.

Drivers side seat moves when parked and left alone. This veries from 1/2 inch to several inces. Problem is inconsistant. Also seat back bent and the seat cushion is also not supportive.

While driving, the seat became detached from the floor.

Nov 9, 2002, is when we purchased the red Windstar van we were told that the dealership had used it as a promotional car for the owners and their wives. February a complaint officer at Ford told me they were just putting the car in our name it was listed under enterprise still. I called to asked why we were just getting the recall notice for the seat when I had called them 5 times with the call I made 2-7-07 and why had they not sent a notice for the sliding doors.

A sharp piece of metal was protruding from the driver seat back (left side at hip level).

The vehicle was involved in an accident which caused the middle row seat to come off track and threw the seat into the air. Dealer notified.

Consumer states that on the middle row of the vehicle the consumer was trying to put a piece back onto the seat and needed to fold down the bucket seat and in doing so the seat folded down at a force that it cut the consumers finger deep. The consumer was trying to put the cover back onto the mechanisum that folds the seat down. Contacted dealer. Nlmjlg.

There is a sharp metal piece that sticks out of driver's seat, cutting consumer when entering and exiting vehicle. Dealer notified.

Drivers side seat has a piece of metal that has pierced through the seat. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated part was no longer available, and seat would be patched up. Metal is dangerous and tears clothes up. Please provide any further information.

The vehicle was rear ended and driver's seat failed. It fell completely back on the middle row seat. Usually my youngest child (baby at the time) would have been (in her child seat) in the middle row and I'm sure she would have been killed if she had been in the van that day.

Driver's seat cross bar pops in and out, causing seatback to go forward into the driver's back. Dealer has repaired vehicle on several occasions, and the problem still exists. Manufacturer has been notified. Provide further details.

My wife has a damaged spinal column due to flawed nature of van seats. Our private doctor, the service manager at steve marsh Ford at milan, tennessee have both stated that Windstar van have a flawed seat design. Also virtually everyone I have talked to who have driven a Windstar for lengthy periods of time state they are uncomfortable and painful. Our seat was a special seat designed to move forward to allow for driver side entry into van. The sitting portion of seat is flawed and during prolonged driving the posterior becomes numb, pained and in the case of my wife damaged. The van is unsafe to operate and has nearly gotten my family killed due to fact the pain caused by the seats causes on to squirm and try to move the body resulting in loss of safe control of vehicle.

While driving vehicle, driver's seat would shift on tracks; would not lock in. When coming to a stop or taking off from stationery positi0n, seat moves forward. Took back to dealer who replaced the seat tracks, but problem still exists.

The anchor point on the second row captain chairs are in the lowr left hand corner of the seat. In the operator manual they are shown as being in the center of the seat. We contacted the dealer, who spoke the factory. They said the manual was a misprint and the seats were desinged that way with the anchor point being on the lower left. All the other seats have the anchor points in the center of the back of the seat. With anchor point being offest it cuase the strap to run on a diagnal from top back to the lower left hand corner, as you are looking at the back of the seat. I have not seen any other vehicles, where the anchor point is off centered. Please recall this van and make Ford fix the problem before a child is hurt. Thank you.

Vehicle was hit from rear at 40 mph in which passenger's seat disengaged from seat track . Please give any further details.

Front seats are uncomfortable and unsafe.

Upon accelerating the seat track releases from the set position, causing the seat to move to the rear. Consumer feels unsatisfied with the transmission.

Front driver's and passenger's seats are very uncomfortable. Ultimately resulting in unsafe operation of vehicle by driver due to pain. Also, resulting in various frustrating body movements made by driver to relieve pain. This has caused near fatal crashes.

No warning on how heavy these seats are and that caution should be used. A warning lable or sticker should be attached to the back of the seat and a update to the manual also.
