1. Rear axle fractured severely & broke making the car un-drivable on 24 Jan 2019 while in motion driving in city traffic. Ford put braces on this vehicle under recall# 10s13, but they failed to prevent further corrosion and metal fatigue. The axle was a bad engineering design from the drawing board combined with not e-coating the metal during manufacturing to prevent corrosion of the metal due to road salt. The axle fractured next to the brace on the driver side as shown in the 4 images below. I have one tow bill (flat-bed) to get the car off the downtown street to my home & will have another tow bill to transport it to where I can replace the axle. 2. Front cradle frame's mount rusted off that anchors the stabilizer bar so the stabilizer bar had to be removed. This happened several years ago. The cradle frame probable was not e-coated during manufacture either. I can take a pic and probable have the repair invoice detailing the date and the mechanic's work to remove the stabilizer bar. To fix the car will need a new front cradle frame, stabilizer bar, and possibly mount brackets.

I was driving home when I went around a corner I heard a thump in the front passenger side of my Windstar, the following morning I took it into my mechanic. He looked the vehicle over and told me the sub frame has rusted out where the stabilizer bar connects. This issue was supposed to have been addressed by Ford the previous year when they had it in for the rear axle recall. I find Ford had made the decision to put some useless brackets in and not replace the sub-frame. I called customer care concerning the problem and was told there was only a year warranty on the work so there was nothing they could do as I had picked up the van end of April /beginning of may 2011. A recall was issued for this problem and quite evidently their fix with some little brackets did not repair the issue, I am not sure how some brackets are suppose to correct a rusting out sub frame to begin with.
The front driver side spring broke in two pieces. Due to the weight of the vehicle the stabilizer bar ended up getting bent. Also, because of the sharp edge where the spring broke it cut the front brake line. I'm grateful that it occurred overnight to where my family and I weren't driving it.

Front sway bar is found to be hollow and broke in half on passengers side. Ford should be liable for the repair cost since they were aware that they would not hold up in salty and snowy conditions.

Front stabilizer bar broke in half inside bushing none of the auto techs could find the problem for the part 2 years (not even during NY state inspections) so they past the van anyways untill finally one gave a tug on the passangers side of the bar and it came out of the bushing in their hands the tech said he never saw a bar break like that before and that was the cause for having to get the wheel hubs lowerball joints &tie rod ends replaced twice in one year along with the tires on the front of the van so the van sits in the drive way untill it can get fixed (finding the bar is the hard part)dealer said he could not locate one
now what????
any help would be greatly apreshiated.

Front stabilizer bar broken. Tried to get part. I was told not yet available.
I have a 1996 Ford Windstar 3. 8l engine with a broken front stabilizer bar. About 12 inches of it are hanging near the right front wheel. I checked a friends Windstar of similar vintage and he has the same problem! that's two out of two. I know Ford has recalled similar problems with other vehicles.
The contact owns a 1996 Ford Windstar. The vehicle was purchased on March 17, 2005. The contact stated that the dealership verbally told her that vehicle would pass inspection. However, she did not have this information in writing. About two weeks ago the stabilizer bar broke while pulling out of a driveway. Luckily no one was injured. However, there were children in the car. After examining the broken stabilizer bar one could tell that the bar was shredded, and they saw where the bar had been welded onto the vehicle. When the contact spoke with the dealership she asked if the vehicle had been in an accident prior to purchasing it. The dealership said that the vehicle was not in an accident, and there was no police report. However, there were previous accidents prior to the contact's ownership of this vehicle.
Consumer stated the stabilizer bar rusted and broke through. As a result, a grinding noise was heard when turning in either direction.
The stabilizer bar broke about 5 inches from the tire after the bend and into the straight part of the bar. Efforts I have made to find a replacement part new or used is proveing difficult because every single place has been out of them, this would indicate to me that there is a rash of brakeages of this part and not an isolated incident.
Consumer staes insulation bushing/stabelizer bar was replaced twice with in present mileage. Provide any additional information. Ts.
The stabilizer bar broke causing very unstable driving. Wife complained and I looked under the vehicle and saw the bar hanging. It looks rusted through. The center of the bar has an ovbious hole so either it was made defective. Vehicle is undrivable and dangerious. Mr.
Stabilizer bar completely snapped, causing significant body lean. Replacement is no longer hollow.
Hollow stabilizer bar fractured just outside of right stabilizer bar mount, broken end of bar and connecting piece left hanging next to right tire. Resulted in poor handling & severe reaction to cross winds at highway speeds.
