1 Manual Transmission problem of the 2001 Ford Windstar

Failure Date: 12/16/2002

We have leased a 2001 Ford Windstar and have had it for approximately 2 years, taking out 15,000 miles per year. Several days ago, we could not move the car after we stopped at a light. We finally had to have it towed at our expense and found out that the whole transmission had been "blown. " (only after 40,000 miles. ) we felt that our safety was at stake, since no warning signs within the van, told us that the problem existed and we were at a major intersection, which could have resulted in some serious injuries.

7 Manual Transmission problem of the 1996 Ford Windstar

Failure Date: 05/23/1998

I am looking for wheel rim failure information on 1986 to 1988 Buick, lesabre and Buick electra estate wagons. The rims of the 1986 have some wear at the mounting holes resulting in imperfect centering. Buick refuses to tell me if there is a known problem replacing the lug nuts that came with the rims with standard centering lug nuts! the original lug nuts and rims were made with large flat areas and relying on the diameter of the lug nut to do the centering. I can not afford new rims, if new lug nuts would work I'd rather do that. But the rims seem to be some kind of alloy. Can you help?.

10 Manual Transmission problem of the 1998 Ford Windstar

I bought this van in Feb of 1998 and in a few weeks I noticed that the van would lunge forward at low speeds of about 5 to 10 miles per hour. I went to the dealer and was told there was no problem . I went to another dealer same thing. I returned to the original dealer and this time drove the van with a mechanic and showed him the problem. They ordered a new transmission but the problem has never gone. I wrote Ford but no help. Then I moved to south jersey an dshowed it to the dealer a few times and this past Jan I was told that the problem will stay and nothing more can be done. So at present every time I star the van and accelerate and then leave the peddle the car lunges. In slow traffic this a real anger because it seems as though the car is not in my control. The change in gear is very rough.
