1 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2017 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 08/05/2020

steering assist reduced drive with care warning light shows up at least once a month. The air conditioner and temperature gauge do not work when this is on. We had it checked and there was zero freon in it. Had that refilled totaling over $400 because it's a special kind that takes the 1234 hook up. Steering assist reduced drive with care warning light came on again like it does every month. Husband popped the hood to take a look and it appears freon has spewed while steering assist light is on, explaining why it was empty when we took it to be checked. The check engine light is also on now too. When powering vehicle off, a message on the screen says climate control not available when vehicle is powered off. Additionally we get a shift to park message when we power off the vehicle. Ready to seek legal action.

2 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2013 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 02/15/2017

On multiple occasions now, my car has flashed "traction control off", "engine power is reduced", "service traction control", "service stabilitrak" while in motion at various speeds and has occurred most recently just prior to a curve that caused me to drive into the opposite lane because the engine shuts down causing no control in the steering when these lights come on. When the car is at a complete stop, it is then put into park and the key is turned to the off position and has had no consistency of if it will restart or not. If the traction control symbol is still on the display, it will not restart. It has been into the gm dealer it was purchased from with scheduled evaluation of the problem and they state there is not a problem with the vehicle and no codes stored in the system for them to evaluate this problem. The malfunction indicator lamp symbol will stay on or go off on its own at no specific rate. This is a huge safety concern that has caused my vehicle to stop unexpectedly while driving 55mph down a state route and limits steering ability when this failure occurs causing my vehicle to go into the oposite lane on the road. I did record the dash indicator lights after the vehice was at a complete stop partially on the road while still in drive for the dealership service department to view these on the display and I also have the copy of the service department paper that describes there were no repairs completed due to no failure during scheduled appointment on 2/9/17. The malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) was still on the display when vehicle dropped off in the evening before the scheduled service. Upon pickup on 2/11/17 there were no indicator lights on the display. I am unable to put the mph or estimated miles in the alloted space on last incident on 2/15/17 so am adding here; I was driving about 35mph and there was about 98,170 miles.

3 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2014 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 07/10/2016

I was driving on I-10 for around an hour when my steering wheel made a slight turn to the right and completely locked up. The road was wet so I didn't want to slam on my brakes. I was trying as hard as I could to try and turn the steering wheel but couldn't. I tapped the brakes 2 times and then had to slam the brakes as hard as I could or I would have hit other vehicles. My car started spinning and then crashed head into the guardrail. I hit the guard rail so hard it ripped up the concrete and bounced my vehicle back into the interstate. Another vehicle pulled over and was trying to help me get my car off the interstate but neither of us could get the steering wheel to turn. It was still locked up turned to the right. My husband was a few vehicles back and he pulled over and was also trying to turn the steering wheel to get my vehicle off the interstate. After yanking on the steering wheel and tires as hard as he could, it finally made a big pop and then the steering wheel and tires were free so we could turn the wheel to get my car on side the road.

4 Power Steering Light On problem of the 2009 GMC Acadia

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

When trying to steer the vechile below 5 mph's (engine below 1200 rpm), the steering wheel will lock up and is very hard to steer. My wife had this happen to her the first when she was pulling into our diriveway (thankfully it did not happen in the city). She told me about it, so I then took it to town shopping. It took a while before it happened to me, but finally it did when I was making a tight right hand turn into a menards parking lot. I started the turn and notice instantly that I had no steering. I almost hit another car because I was not able to steer sharp enough or fast enough for the right hand turn. After that, I got in the parking lot and did a little testing. I figured out that the steering was locked, and if the engine was reved over 1200 engine rpm, the steering would come back slightly. After several try's, it did come back. Dont know if I can trust it to work all the time??? it appears the problem is worse after the car has been run for a while. With cold temps it works until the steering system warms. , then problem is random. Scarey!!! feels like there is a flow control valve maybe that is in pump, and when it sticks open, the steering is lost at idle speeds. Not a good deal. . .
