Shift to park - car will not turn off after putting in park. Car is still running after several attempts of hitting the power button to turn off. I have had to replace the battery twice in the same year. I have brought this issue to the dealership from the beginning of purchase and was unsuccessful.

I believe my vehicle has a software issue, the temperature gauge will read cold, I will get a “steering assist reduced drive with caution” message, my a/c stops working, and the radiator fans come on full blast the moment you start the car because the temperature can not be read. I have read online forums where others are having this same exact issue. Resetting the codes seems to temporarily fix the issue, but it comes back within roughly 2 weeks. This vehicle has not even reached 60k miles yet.

The car stopped working all of a sudden, I was driving the car with no issues that morning and parked & shut off car to go to my appt. I turned the car back on and worked fine as I was putting in my address on the gps my car just stopped and shut off by itself. I pushed the start button and it sounded like it wanted to start but it wouldn't and the whole engine shooked. Called gm and car still under warranty had it towed to the nearest gm. They diagnosed it and said it was the fuel injector module that went bad. It's 2021 with only 23800 miles. After a week, just got it back for a day and now the cooling fan has a loud noise, check engine light on, coolant stays on c even after driving it more than 10 mins, ac blows hot air, I get an alert with steering assist is reduced and to drive with care. . . . . Seems like something is wrong with the thermostat.

After noticing my ac was not cooling, I began receiving a “steering assist is reduced drive with care” notice every time my car was started. My car is more difficult to steer. It has been assessed by a certified mechanic and found that the coolant temperature probe is malfunctioning and the ecm will either need to be fixed or replaced. Due to malfunctioning power steering, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle until it is fixed.
While driving I got the alert in my cluster that “power steering assist reduced”. I also noticed there were many other individuals in GMC forums that have had the same issue.
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while attempting to shift to park(p), the transmission failed to shift into park, and the contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. The contact also stated that when she started the vehicle, the reduced steering power warning light illuminated, and the failure caused the battery to be replaced once. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
No warning light when transmission went out. Traction control/stabiltrac service light came on, doors locking and unlocking, not stating what gear Acadia was in. Check engine light eventually came on, after it stalled twice on highway. Vehicle is at GMC dealership service department and they are saying its not communicating and are checking wiring harness wires. I have replaced transmission and torque converter and now I dont know what to expect now. Only had it for 3 years so far. I almost got rear ended when it stalled twice before backfiring and a rough swift shift.

Numerous occurences especially recently of shift vehicle to park when vehicle has been parked, turned off and already shifted into park position. Several occurrences where almost every time within 24 hours I use my cruise control and air conditioner at the same time my check engine light will come on as well as the stability trac indicator which then causes my air conditioner not to work and inability to start the vehicle due to having a check engine light on.
The steering assist code comes on , the temp gage goes down , and it’s immediately hard to steer . All the lights come on , and drained the battery, this has happened several times.
Vehicle is constantly giving “shift to park” error. The steering mechanism has also been compromised, and the vehicle makes persistent jerking motions with accelerating. This could be quite dangerous.
Traveling at interstate speeds the vehicle had an short in the body control module due to the hvac drain leaking into the vehicle. The vehicle displayed a series of alarms brake, steering, and shutoff. We had no power, steering, brakes, or lights. The issue was discovered by dave sinclair dealership. It had been in for a sensor issue 3 months prior.
Vehicle will randomly drop into a lower gear which causes the engine to rev up, then a warning light comes on indicating that the steering assist and abs system are offline. Not what you want to have happen when driving 70mph on the highway. Problem has been ongoing for ytears and GMC insists it is a transmission problem but another thing I have noticed whenever it happens is that the battery voltage increases. Seems like GMC shipped these cars with weak alternators which would explain the myriad electrical problems this vehicle and others like it have had.
My steering assist is reduced drive with care message is on. The ac is no longer working and the fan is constantly running and sounds horrible. The temperature gauge has not come off of cold. After researching this issue online-it looks like this is a constant problem with Acadias from 2017-current. People are talking about the cost being between $1100-2400 to fix. There is a service bulletin out about this issue(17-na-158) may 2017 if GMC knows that this is a problem why are they not recalling them?? my car was purchased brand new and of course is out of warranty like most others(the extended warranty doesn’t cover it either) GMC needs to recall these vehicles and fix this issue!!!!!.

Airbags - I received a service notification that the airbags needed to be serviced. I was told by the dealership there weren’t any outstanding recalls on this vehicle. When I researched myself, I saw that in fact, there is an outstanding recall for the airbags. The dealership is trying to charge me for the repairs on an outstanding recall on this car. If I had not researched on my own, I would be out of pocket hundreds of dollars. I transport myself and children I. This vehicle that I thought was safe. This is concerning. Struts - according to the car fax provided at the time of sale, the struts were replaced at the dealership 3 months before purchasing the car. 2 months later the struts have failed and the dealership will not cover the cost of the repair. There was only a 1,000 mile difference from when the struts were repaired until the time I purchased the car.

Power steering reduces and the temperature gage wont work and the fan is extremely loud so it decreases the steering and increases the fan so it can cool down the engine. Others have submitted a recall form for this same problem.
The recall is with the steering wheel air bag. If it goes off then the driver could possibly get injured or killed from metal fragments according to the recall letter that I received. The letter is dated June 10, 2023. If they can't come up with a fix then they should supply me with a vehicle that is safe. Seven months is way too long.

• steering and air conditioning • possible death and heat stroke •yes •no •no, just came on all of a sudden.
The contact owns a 2014 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and making a turn, there was an abnormal grinding sound coming from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v334000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The dealer informed the contact that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The check engine light has come on multiple times in the past 6 months. I have taken it 3 times to be repaired and finally the found out what was wrong. The first time that I brought it in, may 2023, the bank 1 lean code was coming up on the diagnostic. They replaced a sensor for $300. 2 weeks later the check engine light came on again. They got the same codes and didn't know what exactly was causing it so they fixed a bunch of things which cost me $2,200. 3 months later, the check engine light came back on again. This time they're telling me the repairs cost $3,725 and it's related to this bulletin (https://static. Nhtsa. Gov/odi/tsbs/2019/mc-10160115-9999. Pdf). This seems like a safety hazard that I should not have to pay for. My car only has 58,000 miles. I already paid $2,500 in misdiagnosed problems and now they want me to pay another $3,725. I don't have my bills to upload because they're in my glove box and my car is with the dealership.
My wife was driving our 2014 GMC Acadia to work. She stopped to fuel up her car about 4 miles from home. She left the gas station and proceeded to head to work. She called me (her husband) in a panic because she had lost all power steering and could not turn the wheel through an intersection. I asked her if she had made it to work and she said she was about to pull into the parking lot, but was going to have to park aways out from the building as she couldn’t turn into a park spot. I went and checked out our car when she was inside working and sure enough the cars power steering fluid was all over the ground under the driver side of the car. I trailered the car back home where I could get a better look at things. The rack and pinion had failed without any warning and was spraying fluid out of the top of the rack. No warning lights or indicators on the dash, warning of low fluid or anything malfunctioned. Still when you start the vehicle there is still no warning lights of low fluid or anything. Of course we are dealt to deal with the repair and expenses ourselves because the extended warranty we have doesn’t cover anything to do with steering components with our car that we have owned now for 1 1/2 years.
Steering assist warning came on and my wife panicked. She was on the highway and it came on and she could fill it in the stereo wheel. Temperature gauge stays on 0.
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the electric power steering (eps) warning light illuminated, displaying the message "steering assist might be inoperable". The contact stated that following the message being displayed, the vehicle overheated. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure had since become a regular occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the thermostat. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 70,000.
Sudden loss of power steering due to steering pump failure. Wife was turning onto a busy road and the power steering went out causing her to almost hit oncoming traffic on the other side of the lane. Very serious and upsetting experience. In doing so research it appears this has been an ongoing issue with this vehicle and the previous model. Life safety issues such as this should be recalled at once before someone else’s wife and children are killed. Vehicle is currently at shop for replacement.
For a few months I intermittently get an engine light on, the temperature gauge goes to zero, the ac stops working, and an error that driver assist in unavailable. This will happen for a fee days and return to notmal where everything is fine. This happens on and off again. I google searched this and it is a huge problem with GMC Acadias. I used an obdii scanner and get a p0128 coolant error when this happens even though the temperature is fine. I just recently went over the new car warranty and GMC will not tell me if this is covered or not.
Steering assist reduced, drive with caution message displayed. Steering wheel sticks when turning. Apparently caused by a faulty thermostat and/or temperature sensor. Had both replaced several months ago. However, both the message and symptoms have returned.
Initial battery died completely when vehicle was 2 years old (17 months ago). This week got a steering assist drive with care message and everything pointed to codes signaling low voltage. Battery tested with a bad cell. Gm will not cover the cost to replace a battery when not one but two have gone bad well before the middle of their earful lives. Gm claims there is nothing electrical drawing from the battery causing both the go array. Bad customer service on gm’s part. Logically this issue should be covered as it is not a typical maintenance replacement. It’s something causing two batteries to go bad!.
Steering column came out while driving.
After exiting the highway onto a side road, the vehicle began to shake violently (like we were on a very bumpy road). I pulled into a parking lot thinking we had a flat tire. Then the vehicle suddenly came to a stop and would not move forward and would not move backwards. There was no flat tire, but I noticed that the front left tire was turned inward in the direction that the steering wheel was turned, but the front right tire was also turned inward at a much greater angle. At first glance, I could see behind the tire that the tie rod had detached from the front right tire resulting in no steering capabilities for the vehicle. The tie rod has a large bolt that attaches it to the tire, and the bolt was missing. Had this happened on the highway just a few minutes earlier, the resulting accident could have been catastrophic. I paid to have the car towed to the dealership and when the tow truck driver arrived he took one look at the vehicle and said "this should have never happened". The dealership could not explain how the tie rod lost the bolt and there was no visible damage to the tie rod. My concern is that had this happened at 60mph, the car could have flipped or the car would have been abruptly turned into the median wall at 60mph. Tried to upload images, but could not upload.
Steering assist reduced drive with care" displayed on screen when I was driving. The temp gauge stayed on c, heat works fine, happened for a few days.
1. Could not put car into park or turn off. Caused battery to be dead as it would not turn off when put into park. 2. Steering wheel locked and jerked repeatedly. Could not turn into parking spot. The steering wheel had a mind of its own and could not stop the jerk. It is dangerous and scary ! 3. At night, the headlights do not light the road. It is as though there are no lights at all. It is dangerous to not see the road at night because headlights do not give appropriate lighting.
The contact owns a 2019 GMC Acadia. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate with the "steering assist reduced, drive with care" message displayed. Additionally, the temperature gauge remained on cold. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no failure was found. The failure recurred, and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. The VIN was not available.
Vehicle refuses to turn off due to "shift to park" error being displayed. Vehicle also gives "driver assist unabled. Drive safely" message and ac will not cool and vehicle coolant gauges will not work.
While driving the temperature gauge shuts down completely to c - the check engine light comes on and a message appears on the dash saying "steering assist reduce drive with care". Any air conditioning goes from cold to hot and the fan under the hood goes to high automatically and wont shut off. We have been informed that this is a known error that has existed for a long time now, with no recalls to date. I cannot schedule my vehicle for repairs yet because I do not have the money to pay for the repairs. They are saying that the placement of the thermostat and sensor, which need to be replaced in order to fix this problem, are located in a very difficult spot to get to. Saying that it will take upwards of 4-5 hours to get everything fixed, which increases the amount of money to fix this issue. My 2019 GMC Acadia just started doing this about 2 months ago and I have 54000 miles.
My vehicle has serious issues that from my research seem to be a common problem/manufacturer defect experienced by other owners of this model. I believe the defect/issue is an electrical problem. While driving, the vehicle will often have problems using it's automatic transmission. It ranges from "rough" shifting (where the car jerks while shifting gears) to situation where the vehicle fails to shift gears completely leading to the rpms shooting up. The cars power steering and traction control system also simultaneously fail. This leads to a dangerous situation when on highways etc this issue simultaneously causes all of the warning lights on the dashboard to light up while displaying the following messages on screen "service stabilitrak" & "steering assist reduced -drive with care" & "service brake assist" & "service parking brake". The gauges also stop responding/reflecting accurate info when this happens. I have a video of what this all looks like. This has been on ongoing intermittent problem pretty much for the entire life of the vehicle. GMC informed me that they had never heard of this when I inquired about it a dealership but searching online makes it incredibly clear that this is an extremely widespread issue that they are aware of. I have also attached a file that has a list of all error codes detected by me for this vehicle.
