GMC C2500 owners have reported 10 problems related to brake electric antilock (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Periodically, without warning, the brakes malfunction on my 2000 GMC sierra pickup. After the brakes are applied, the vehicle begins slowing, then you can feel a sensation of the braking action releasing, no mater how hard the brake pedal is pressed. The sensation is like some of the brakes have let go and are not longer being applied. I have had no accidents but there have been several tense close situations at tee intersection, which could have been very bad. This has occurred since the vehicle was new. We have had it in for correction several times, but it has not been corrected. It seems to be a problem in the abs system. GMC and their representatives were unable to find the problem while the age and mileage of the vehicle were within the warranty limits and now do not want to pay for any diagnosis of the problem and possibly any correction. The last incident occurred on February 17, 2007.

Upon braking up to a stop sign for instance. The vehicles abs will kick in at the last minute releasing the left front wheel causing the vehicle to dive to the right. This happens in wet or dry condition but is particularly bad in icy conditions.

When I pulled into a left turn lane and tried to apply the brakes the pedal went nearly to the floor and I had no brakes luckily there were no other cars on the road or in the intersection at the time so I went on through and there was no accident, I was camping at the time and I got the truck back to the campground when I backed the truck into the campsite and applied the brakes they started working normally, I took the truck to the dealer and they said that they could find nothing wrong they even said that they have had several other vehicles do the same thing and could not find anything wrong with them and that this problem was normal for the vehicle.
Antilock system activates on my 2002 GMC serria as stated in the recall NHTSA campaign number 05v379000. GMC says my vehicle by VIN number is not covered under this recall. My VIN # is 1gthk29132e213244. I've had a couple of near accidents because of this. I also tow a 36' fifth wheel camper in the summer time.
When slowing down the anti lock brakes kick in and the vehicle looses brakes for a second and pulls to the right a little when brake pedal drops. Dealer will charge to fix it and caller has not had them fixed yet and says he might just disconnect the anti lock brakes until GMC has a recall.

Abs brake control activates as truck comes to a stop at low speed.
A humming noise came from under the hood after removing the key from the ignition and shutting off the engine. The vehicle was driven to a gm dealer, who noted that the anti lock brake pump was continuously running. The anti lock brakes were repaired under a recall, but the pump was not covered by the recall. The cost for a replacement of a brake pump was $2,000 or the dealer could perform a cheaper process by simply removing anti lock brake fuse which bypassed the brake pump. The contact opted for removing the fuse due to cost. This remedy warranted the anti lock brakes as non working. Since this repair there have been no further problems.

Unwanted antilock brake activation. Same as indicated on NHTSA campaign # 05v379000. Was told by GMC my vehicle was not part of above recall with no reasonable explanation give as to why.
Sometimes brake pedal gets very hard and brakes do not want to stop vehicle. The consumer believed that the vehicle abs activated too soon which greatly increased the stopping distance. The problem has occurred with light braking as well. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the problem.
