When baking up the abs fault code came on was going 5 mph or less. Turned the truck off and the code went away. It has done this a total of three times all while backing the truck up at a very low speed, other issues I am having the air conditioning will only work on high and sometimes the other speeds will work. The rear passenger window will not roll down. I am the original owner of this truck and have never received any recalls on any of these items and the braking system is a safety concern.

Failure Date: 04/25/2015

Almost immediately after initial start of vehicle, shifted from park to reverse and while backing out of garage, a message appeared in the driver information center (dic) that read: "service, brake assist, dismiss" - a few minutes later received two emails from onstar which read: an issue with the antilock braking system in your 2015 GMC Canyon crew cab has been detected. An issue with the stabilitrak® stability control system in your 2015 GMC Canyon crew cab has been detected. Subsequently, visited selling dealership and they checked fuse in relation to TSB # pb-14669, NHTSA id # 10056603. Dealership found 30 amp fuse to already be in place. Cleared trouble code, but it has since displayed several times in the dic. Continue to receive several emails from onstar with subject line of "onstar vehicle health alert notification for your 2015 GMC Canyon crew cab" - onstar has advised that these are "false email alerts" and that general motors is working on a fix for this problem, but no update or fix is available at this time. No estimated date of resolution, and unknown exactly how serious this apparent safety issue might be.

"tire pressure monitor"(tpm). The tpm is always illuminating on my dash. I check my tires plus the spare every month and nothing seems to be wrong with the inflation. I still have the factory rims, with the same tire size according to manufacturer but newer with no upgrades. No damage to rims or tires ever.

44 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 08/08/2013

Reference recalls on report receipt date: Apr 27, 2006 NHTSA campaign number: 06v139000 component(s): exterior lighting report receipt date: Jul 29, 2009 NHTSA campaign number: 09v310000 component(s): exterior lighting my 2004 GMC Canyon break light went out on me on 8/8/2013. The break light out was a safety concern for tailgaters. So I took to mark christopher GMC dealer, ontario CA for repair because of two same recalls on the vehicle plus transmission oil change. Orginal estimation of cost was 305. The dealer decided to charge me 155 for transmission oil change and labor, $16. 75 for a defective/malfunction brake switch and $200 on labor. They told me the recalls was done already on the vehicle and there is no warranty on the second attempt. The final estimation of cost was $377. I don't recall the date that it was serviced. How can GMC assures that the vehicle recalls was done properly? I'm very disappointed with GMC and it recalls. I felt like I got rip off by the dealer. Beside, I don't know if they ever change my transmission oil filter and casket along with the transmission oil change.

Brakes: I purchased vehicle September 25, 2012. This problem has occurred since I purchased the vehicle. It does not happen all the time. The problem is the brakes lockup and the steering wheel shudders and the vehicle pulls to the right. The vehicle makes a griding noise. It will not stop immediately when you put on the brakes. The brake pedal jumps up and down and makes a grinding noise. The vehicle pulls to the right and jumps up and down. In answer to the next question: this problem has happened since I purchased the vehicle.

48 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 02/02/2011

A day or two after purchacing vehicle I was in a cramped parking lot and when I applied the brakes the vehicle suddenly accelerated. This happened twice, once going forward and once in reverse before I realized that my foot was partly on the brake pedal and partly on the accelerator. It has happened at least eight times since then. I have found that it happens more often when I am wearing wide soled work shoes. (GMC markets this vehicle as a work truck. ) this is a very dangerous problem which caused me to nearly trap a woman who was standing behind her car in a gas station. Fortunately I was able to stop in time but she and I were both visibly shaken by the incident. I reported the condition to the dealer from whom I bought the vehicle but the response was that I should be more careful.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 07/14/2010

2005 GMC Canyon, 4wd. Brakes lock up after sitting for a short period of time or when wet. Abs does activate, hear the noise, rear brakes lock. Went to some of the forums for these vehicles, find out it is common. Took vehicle back to dealer (bought it used as certified gm) as the parking brake stuck only a week after I had the vehicle. They replaced the cable, told me I was set. I took the truck home, brakes were very "touchy" brought it back to the dealer a few weeks later (thought maybe it was me) and they charged me $100. 00 and said they adjusted the rear brakes, not under the warranty. I called them and had a blow out argument with the service manager to no avail as the brakes were still touchy. I have been living with them until today, when in the rain I had to make a panic stop on the highway. The brakes momentarily locked at 65 mph, truck stayed straight and I was able to let off fast enough. Luckily the guy behind me was not following too close, or he would have been under me. Situation is getting worse, I have been driving for 35+ years and never had a vehicle like this.

50 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 06/24/2010

Abs fault comes on intermittently and gm is not responding to our concerns.

51 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

I took my truck in to the dealer because the rear brakes would stick the when depressed and released doing normal stop and go in my neighborhood at intersections with stop signs. The deal service advisor informed me that there was a service bulletin on my rear brakes. The did the repairs as stated in the service bulletin and that I would not have a problem with my brakes. I told the service advisor at the dealership that in order for the proper repairs done that both sides if my rear axle brakes should have new parts installed, not just one side. On the day of June 20th 2011 with only 25277 miles on my 2007 GMC Canyon the brakes started to stick and squeal again just like when I had the first work done as stated in the first service bulletin. Now the service advisor informs that I must pay the labor charges for these new repairs to install parts and the rear axle brakes even after the fact I informed them that I purchased the "extented warranty coverage" because at the time I purchased this warranty I was told that if any mechanical failed I would be covered and I could drive my new truck "worry free" of any problem after the original 3 year or 30,000 miles, which ever comes first, ran out.

52 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 09/20/2009

I have a 2007 GMC Canyon pickup and recently the rear brakes have excessive grab, aggressive drag, and the rear drums lock up cautioning an unsafe condition. After the vehicle has set for a while, during the first few stops or before you get heat built up in the brakes, it feels as though the brakes are grabbing excessively. In addition, the tires chirp and/or leave skip marks during braking. The condition is very unsettling to the driver and I believe the excessive brake grab could cause an accident. I have searched technical bulletins and found the following gm service bulletin (07-05-24-001b). I have contacted my dealer that I bought the truck from and they have indicated it is not under a safety recall and the repair is going to cost $240. I believe this condition warrants a recall and the cost be absorbed by the manufacturer. Due to economic conditions at this time, I believe I am among most consumers who cannot afford a major repair such as this at this time. I also believe that the initial condition with the rear brakes will increase the brake wear on the front brakes.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2005 GMC Canyon

Failure Date: 10/01/2008

Rear brake shoes bad at 45,000. Replaced drums and shoes. New drums warped after 2 months and 2,000 miles. Replaced drums and shoes again, squeaks very loud, drums bad again. Replaced drums with GMC drums, brakes bad again after 1 month. Took to an independent mechanic after dealer would not fix issue. Independant replaced left rear hydraulic and new shoes. Stated the emergency brake must be defective. Brakes are now squeaking again after 1 month. Also slight locking up when backing up after rain, cold, moist weather.
