I bought a 2003 GMC Envoy 3/23/24. The main frame and sub-frame have extensive rot, and is unsafe to drive. It is available to inspect. They disguised frame damage and sold me an unsafe vehicle. I brought the car in to have the ac repaired in August 2024 and when they put it up on the lift that's when they saw the damage. This was rogers automotive in westport MA. They told me at that time that it is unsafe to drive. It has not been inspected by any other parties at this time. We had no idea it was damaged, rogers said it was sprayed to try to hide the damage.
Rear door will not open. Window works but door handles inside and outside will not unlock door to open.
1. The air bag dummy light is on 2. The relay switch keeps going bad on my regular headlights, but the brights will turn on 3. Rear driver side door popped open on the highway while driving with my 12 year old nephew in the backseat. Will not latch shut.
My wife was sitting in the backseat and the back door flew open on the highway. I have also noticed the other back door is not clicking shut and this is a very dangerous situation.
We have been told by two different repair garages that the frame of the vehicle is totally rusted and dangerous. We have 150,000 miles on the vehicle.
2003 GMC Envoy. . . The rear passenger side door will not latch . . . The door opened doing about 30 mph.
2003 GMC Envoy . . . The rear driver side door will not latch . . . The door opened while in motion doing about 30 mph.
Tl the contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. While driving approximately 25 mph, the front end of the vehicle fractured. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (robertson's GMC truck, 2680 cranberry hwy, wareham, MA 02571) where it was diagnosed that the frame assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The VIN was not available.
We purchased our 2003 GMC Envoy xl sle 8 cylinder brand new at alden Buick in fairhaven, mass in July 2003; for the past 3 years we had it serviced at robertsson's GMC 2680 cranberry highway, wareham, mass. 02571,508-291-0044. We had it reconditioned at this dealership last year, spending $4000. 00; we had it inspected at this dealership with the massachusetts vehicle check; it passed the front end check and frame check on 8/4/17. I was driving the vehicle in late December, and hit several deep potholes caused by an ice storm; shortly thereafter I lost steering control of the vehicle. I had it towed to alden Buick/GMC in fairhaven, mass. To be told that the entire frame had collapsed due to extensive corrosion and rust. I had it towed to robertson's GMC in wareham and filed a claim with commerce ins. Co. To hopefully cover the damage to the frame; commerce denied the claim stating"the frame assembly was severely rotted and this extensive rot allowed the right front control arm to break awayfrom the mounting point on the frame rail. GMC issued a technical service bulletin stating that some Envoy models suffered from extensive frame corrosion. Why did robertson's GMC pass the vehicle on the safety check, and why was I not informed of the vehicle's frame corrosion before I spent the $4000. 00 reconditioning it? why is frame check and front end check listed as pass on my vehicle when this corrosion and rust was present at time of insspection? fortunately neither I nor any of my family members were injured while driving/riding in this vehicle.
Driver door will lock and unlock electronically but if you try to unlock door manually it does not unlock. If car crashes person could get trapped if car is on fire could cause a death if no power to electronic locks.
The rear passenger door stop closing . . . . The latch is broken . . . They had a recall on this in 2005 but claim it's close now what can I do?.
The rear glass on the lift gate completely shattered/exploded while in garage. The car was stationary.
I took vehicle to GMC dealer for an unrelated gm special service program and upon removal of the fuel tank, they found extensive rust-through adjacent to where the tank mounts to the frame. They said the "vehicle is not safe to be driven" yet it has only 100,000 miles and its exterior appears almost like-new. Dealer feels the design of the tank being mounted against the frame caused road salt, etc to get trapped where it cannot be cleaned out by undercarriage car washes. I recently contacted GMC but my complaint has not been resolved to my satisfaction. I suspect there are thousands of Envoy/trailblazer (xl) models still on the road with this hidden "cancer".
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that after filling the gas tank the vehicle was driven home an strong gas odor was present. The contact crawled under the vehicle an d noticed the gas tank leaking gas. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Bp.
I was in a mva July 22, 2015 I was tboned on the drivers side and the went headon with a light pole and my airbags never deployed. I had many problems with the electrical in the truck since I purchased the truck. It was an as is with no warranty and I wasnt given any knowledge of problems or recalls. I suffered extensive injuries to my body and my truck was a total loss $10000 in damages to the vehicle.
The rear door closure on the passenger side flung open upon entering the on ramp for the highway. This vehicle now has two doors that will not latch, due to a manufacturing problem and recall. The dealership refuses to replace stating that the repair for the recall already took place, but has not. . .
The key fob, used to unlock the car, will not unlock the driver side door. I can hear a clicking noise like the latch is trying to disengage, but it will not. The remedy for this is to leave the window open in order to press the unlock button inside the car or to wait and continuously press the unlock button the key fob (the latch inside the door will eventually unlock the car).
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that the rear doors were corroded which caused the doors not to latch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 208,000.
It started with engine misfiring causing engine to jolt which damaged #4 coil pack seal to failed allowing water intrusion. In 2008, the GMC mechanic replaced all six coils seals but in 2013-present p0440 engine code is a leak in the evaporative emission (evap). Loose fuel tank filler cap is the most common cause that triggers the p0440 code. I failed a few smog check spending hundreds of thousands of dollars yet my problem still existence. I've contacted the bureau of automotive repair because purrfect auto in fullerton,CA lied about fixing my car. The bar made purrfect auto replace the gas tank and gas cap yet the engine light is still on displaying code p0440. Its been 14 years and I'm still dealing with this problem.
After six months having purchased this used vehicle from a local dealer, I noticed that the driver's door was not working properly, nor were the power window devices, controls, power locks and also the visibility of driver's rear window. I noticed that the door would overheat and sometimes I can smell an odor similar to when something is burning. I have taken the vehicle to a mechanic and finding the solution to the problem has been difficult. On June 2013, I read on the msn website that the GMC Envoys for 2006 and 2007 were being recalled (recall #13v248000) in regards to driver's master power window switch. Since I am having this same problem, with my 2003 Envoy, I called GMC and explained to her that I am having that same issue with my 2003 Envoy. She indicated that GMC would pay for the diagnostic fee labor even though my car's mileage was not under warranty and that the recall was only for 2006 & 2007 Envoys. She connected me to keisha kennedy for an appt. With balise the following day. She assigned a case number 71-1219059371. The following day, August 28, 2013, I went to my appointment at 11 am. And left my car. About an hour later, I get a call from GMC indicating to me that she was sorry, but that GMC could not cover the cost of diagnostic fee labor. I said, "that is not what you told me yesterday" and she replied, "I am sorry, I was not authorized to tell you that". I said to her, "I wouldn't have taken time off from work, ask for a ride, be without transporation if you had told me that before". I also said to her, "how can you tell me you are covering the cost yesterday and today change your mind". All she responded was, "I am sorry". I asked to speak to her supervisor by the name of michelle and the supervisor just said that her employee was not authorized to say to me that GMC would cover the cost. I still have the same safety issue.
My 14 year old daughter and 11 year old son opened the rear glass hatch to grab a shopping bag out of the back. As the glass hatch opened it shattered spraying glass on both of them causing minor cuts to their face, hands scalp. I was just walking up to them with my 1 year old son and had glass flung onto us with no injuries.
Tl-the contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the rear driver side door was unable to open and the rear passenger door failed to fully close and lock. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where no diagnostic was run. No repairs were made to the vehicle and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000. Sr.
We were driving on the road at 60 mph and the center high mount stop light assembly blew off. It was held on by the wires until we could get stopped and secure it.
After unlocking and using the rear window glass multiple times daily, and twice earlier today, it exploded on the way up. This occured within the first 1 inch of travel swinging up and rearward from being closed with very minimal manual force applied. The temperature today is 27deg. F , which is not the coldest use this vehicle has seen. There has not been any previous damage to the rear glass or gate, or anything in the rear of the vehicle. I write this at the advice of many online forum posts and complaints that I read through. I am hoping there is some time devoted by general motors to finding a solution to this. I just had to ride home with wife and 4 kids shivering because of this. There seem to be hundreds of these spontaneous occurances happening in all types of climates and conditions, which is what convinced me I need to share my incident to fuel the cause. Thank god everyone is ok. It was cold and my kids had their hoods up and were looking down when this happened. This could have been much worse.
My wife was in the process of closing the rear hatch on our 2003 Envoy xl (80,000 miles) after removing some articles from the back. She had moved the door about 1-2 inches downward using the molded handle on the bottom of the lift gate to close the door when the rear glass shattered over her head. Luckily she was not injured but was covered in safety glass. The glass was not damaged yesterday when I drove the vehicle and unloaded suitcases from the rear. Ambient temperature was about 70 degrees. I did notice that the rear brake light assembly is now angled upwards in the 'gate raised' position, even after closing the hatch. Also noticed the top, right side rubber grommet on the stamped bracket attaching the glass is very worn, allowing significant movement. I plan on taking the vehicle to a dealer to determine root cause if possible and will have the glass and all touch points replaced if possible. I have no confidence that this will not happen again if there is a design interference issue with the glass and the surrounding components that happens over time. There appear to be numerous cases on the automotive forums website regarding Envoy xl rear hatch glass shattering for no apparent reason (some multiple occurrences). I am surprised more complaints have not been registered to NHTSA officially (only found one-10081011). It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt. I have been a brake engineer for 10+ years and take safety very seriously.
Electronic problem with 4wd was supposedly corrected in 2004, transfer case for 4wd was replaced in April 2005, and 4wd failed again during first day trying to use it during icy conditions after it was "repaired" in April. Had to drive on dangerous, slick roads without 4wd from fairbanks to palmer, ak. This is a major safety issue in alaska where winter driving can be very hazardous without 4wd. Have had it into dealer several times for loud squeak under vehicle when making turns or going over bumps at slow speeds. No corrective action by dealer. Could not get vehicle out of "park". Had to have it towed to dealership. They disconnected something and told me to be careful because whatever they did would allow the vehicle to be put into "drive" without having brakes engaged! had to drive it this way for several weeks until they got replacement part. Have had other problems with climate control, wind noise around windows, and more. None repaired satisfactorily.
When driving over 55 mph wind caused vehicle to shift from side to side. On two separate occasions the wind caused the vehicle to be pushed into a ditch off of the road. There had been slight injuries sustained both instances.
I own a 2003 GMC Envoy xl and when I am driving on the highway, I hear a lot of wind noise, while the windows are closed. Please investigate this problem.
Air bag light is on. Can not open rear passenger door from inside all 4 cigerett lights have stopped working. Drivers window sticks going up and down.
