Three problems related to other fuel system fuel gauge have been reported for the 2003 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge would read empty. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The current mileage was approximately 100,000.
Vehicle: 2003 GMC Envoy failure: speedometor and fuel gauge stopped working. The dealer states this is a very common problem and gm known about this defect but refuse to do anything about it. The instrument cluster needs to be replaced , approx cost of repair is $500 (part & labor). I am very uncomfortable to drive not knowing how fast I am going especially when drive with my baby in GMC Envoy.
Fuel pump module (fuel sending unit) corrodes and leaks fuel. And give faulty reading at the gas reading gauge. Not able to check if tank is empty.
