Check engine light stays on. Had a diagnostic done and they said there's a gas leak coming from the gas tank fuel inlet valve. Common problem for the GMC Envoy and correction involves replacing the whole fuel tank costing an average $1,400. Dangerous to drive if left untreated. Called GMC corporate and I didn't get any help. They said my Envoy was not under any recalls. They should be held responsible for this defect.
U guys issued recalled all GMC vehicles for a leaking gas ck valve on gas tank no matter how long in service stationary or on motion ck with my local dealer karl Chevrolet ankeny iowa they say expired I'm 2017 at 150000 your recalled as long as in service.
Bulletin no. :14423 date: November 2015 part number: 15077622 tank, fuel (18. 7 gal. ) the icv is located above the full fuel level. A fractured icv could allow fuel vapors to pass through and droplets of fuel to accumulate on the side of the fuel tank as it passes over the fracture during refueling. If the icv fractures, the vehicle's service engine soon (ses) light may illuminate, and you may notice a fuel odor and/or a few drops of fuel on the ground when refueling the vehicle. This has happen to me and now my tank needs to be replaced. This is a known issue with GMC Envoy regardless of year or how long they are in service. The company needs to be held accountable for poor quality of parts especially when it is a safety concern and hazard with fuel odor coming into the cab of the vehicle and spilling out when going up a hill. Being told to only fill my gas tank up half to three quarters full due to that part being broken is the wrong answer. In motion when I smell gas and then notice it when I fill the vehicle up and it started pouring out.
Strong smell of gas and leaking from top of tank.
When in park position heavy gas fumes coming from a leak at the top of the tank. You can visually see the gas stains on the sides and bottom of tank. When rolling to a stop the fumes return. I'm getting headaches and burning of my eyes and throat. I checked my VIN for recalls, the parts involved are #14423c fuel tank inlet check valve fracture, and #07076a fuel tank modular reservoir assembly corrosion #12166 fuel filler neck. . I'm afraid every time I drive it that I could be bodily harmed at any given moment, a spark, someone flicking a cigarette,a accident, anything that would trigger a spark.
Leaking fuel on tank at fuel neck. . . Fuel fumes, fuel on ground may cause fire, not environmentally safe as fuel is dumping on the ground where ever you drive.

GMC is admitting to a faulty gas tank and only covers this up to 150,000 miles I bought the car after the 150,000 miles and now have gas leaking the tank was never fixed. Why does the mileage make a difference? this is a major safety issue that GMC should cover regardless of the mileage. Just because my gas tank did not leak as soon as other ones did means I should not be covered? a recall is a recall and they should be responsible for fixing the problem.
This is all over the internet. Plastic gas tank leaks. GMC does not care. I talked with them they ignore repair is $1,600. 00 or more. People are fixing with glue? gasoline spill from cracked plastic fuel tank.
I had been driving and pulled into a fast food restaurant and when I got out of my vehicle I noticed the smell of gasoline being close to a gas station I thought nothing of it when getting back in my vehicle after retrieving my food I now smelled the gasoline inside my vehicle still thought nothing that maybe the fumes were just lingering until the next day when the smell was stronger so strong that my child with asthma immediately had to get out of the vehicle so being cautious as anyone I had my husband take a look he smelled the gasoline but couldn't find a leak so he took it to our local mechanic who then diagnosed the problem and removed the tank and replaced it with a used tank and whatever part was needed to fix the issue so since then I have not smelled anymore gasoline but my check engine light refuses to go off not to mention I receive a letter in the mail stating that there was some sort of recall on my exact year and make of vehicle and that I could send in a claim to get back the $500 I put into fixing the vehicle thinking it was now safe for my family so I paid to fix the problem only my new tank is used so I'm guessing I'll be having this issue again at some point which is very scary considering I drive my children in this vehicle plus I'm out the $500 still have the same issue which I cannot afford to fix again should the problem arise and I didn't keep the receipt from my mechanic thinking problem solved I put it aside it threw it away so I'm just curious is there anything I can do because knowing the tanks have issues and I've just paid $500 for another recalled tank pretty much so I'm at a point where I have no option but to take a loss on the money I paid to fix the vehicle before I knew about the recall not to mention I've had to replace the tie rods twice and it's popping again when I make turns I love this vehicle but now I'm super nervous of it.
