Three problems related to fuel hoses lines/piping and fittings have been reported for the 2004 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2011

Own a 2004 GMC Envoy and I have problems with the fuel gauge and the odometer. The fuel gauge goes past the f line when the vehicle is not on fuel. Also the odometer will stop working or get stuck on 10-15 mph. He happens often. . . Every other day. I was told that it would cost 1400 to fix and a possibility it may not fix the problem.

2 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2010

2004 GMC Envoy 6-cyl 2wd with ~172,000 miles. Check engine light was due to evap leak in the fuel system. Smoke check at the mechanics resulted in visible smoke exiting the filler neck of the fuel tank (not the filler neck from the gas line). New fuel tank (dealer part only!) is ~$900 from dealer to dealer. Plus labor.

3 Fuel Hoses Lines/piping And Fittings problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2010

I purchased a 2004 GMC Envoy xuv and have several significant problems with this vehicle. After researching it seem others have had the same troubles. Since we owned the vehicle, the rear window is found down and noone was even in/near the vehicle. It continues to work but still will go down by itself. A year ago I had to replace the fuel tank, this was right after we took it in for inspection on a recall of smelling gas fumes while driving and possible corrosion in fuel lines. Of course the fuel lines were not corroded so we were told. I footed the bill $800+ to get a new fuel tank ,as neck on tank was cracked and was told that this is why we smelled gas. Luckily, I went to my garage and saved several hundred dollars from the dealers cost to repair. Last weekend 9/10/10 my family was driving to town and the middle window unexpectedly dropped and now does not work. I researched an it seems to be a regulator issue and will cost around $500, wow! over the last two weeks there is a rattle when we turn on our ac. Again after we were in for service as we had the ac charged at the start of summer. I can see where I have the same troubles as a lot of others and feel, the same as they do, left holding the bag by GMC and no way out but, to look for a new/used vehicle and get rid of this vehicle.
