Unknown all the cluster panels quite working. Rpm, speed, oil, water, gas shows always empty. Danger because have to guess my speed and never know if I have enough gas, oil, or water in my car. Also sometimes when I shut off my car I cannot get the key out of the steering column. Cannot leave my car without my keys.
I purchased my vehicle in oct of 2021 in Nov 2021 is when my car started failing my car started to lose power also started smoking from the lower passenger side no warning lights came on besides the oil warning light since Nov 2021 my car has been losing power it only goes up to about 40 m. P. H I have been smelling fuel coming from some where my tail and license plate light and back driver side inside car light stopped working the engine light turns on and off the steering wheel makes the car lose a little bit of power when I turn the wheel or when I roll up and down the windows or adjust my seat my ac does not work the back ac turns on by it's self to the heater does not work when I have it turned all the way to the 5 I hear clicking knocking noises in the back passenger side of the car my fuel injectors had puddles of oil in them the car gets really hot and blows hot air the engine is always hot the seatbelt lights are constantly flashing my check engine light as of today flashes on and off and the car jumps also my car caught on fire under the hood where the O2 sensor is started smoking than caught on fire.
All the gages have stopped working correctly. They do not report proper information to driver . The electrical wiring to the rear wiper, license plate lights and rear hatch stopped working. The most dangerous thing is the abs brake system dash lights and bell comes on every time the car is driven and the brake pedal goes to the floor when trying to stop.
While driving in a 40 mph zone I glanced at the speedometer and it read 70 mph! I immediately applied the brakes to slow the vehicle down before I realized that the speedometer indication was inaccurate. Upon coming to a complete stop the speedometer indicated 40 mph. This happened several times before resuming normal operation. Since then I have noticed the gauge "sticking" when letting off of the gas pedal. This is creating an un-safe condition for myself as well as the occupants of this vehicle. I do not know when the speed indication is truly accurate. I have since learned that this is a common defect on this vehicle as well as other gm models made during this time frame. There should definitely be a recall on this problem before an accident occurs.
Fuel light stays on constantly & fuel gauge always showing empty when vehicle running in motion or stationary.
I had just drove my truck the night before headlights worked fine. I went to leave the next night and no headlights at all. So vehicle was stationary when I realized I had no headlights. I have to drive with my brights on at night. I have no regular headlights at all. Then my passenger side window just quit working as well.
The gas gauge stays on empty when there is a full tank of gas. There rear windshield wiper comes on by itself. The radio plays like it is in a tin box. Every so often it will play normal. But most of the time it doesn't. This happens when it is moving or in park.
My 2005 GMC Envoy xl has the same recalled master window switch units as other recalls, both sides front driver and passenger doors burnt with a bad smell as I was driving. Why? why is my vehicle not included in the recall when everything is the same as other recalled vehicles ?? I was driving on the parkway when I noticed a burning smell with nowhere to pull over for a few miles in great panic with cars going past me at 65 mph plus as I was being cautious to get to an exit so I could figure out what the problem was. It was the door switch so I lifted it out of the door and unplugged it so I could continue my trip. Scary situation . Plus my mechanic can't get the answer if just replacing the switch will make it work or does it need programmed into the computer ?.
SUV dies and won't start back until it cools down. I was traveling 55 mph on a five lane highway and the vehicle just died. I had the vehicle towed to the local dealer and it couldn't be diagnosed.
I've had my 2005 Envoy for a little over a year and had my headlights flash on and off while driving on the road and freway. On one occasion while driving on a two lane highway ay night the lights went out completely for a few seconds. I was so scared wss really glad for no one behind me or on coming traffic. On another occassion I had to pull over on city street as my lights were going on and off and I could see the car ahead was a cop and I didnt want him to think I was flashing for help especially at 2 in the morning. Ive also had to exit the freeway because my lights started going on and off and on and wasnt sure if they would just go out completely while I was driving and since it was night time I didnt want to take the chance of causing an accident and hurting someone else or myself. I have a teenage daughter and am afraid to transport her and her friends in my car.
Car was parked for 10 minutes when we noticed smoke coming from the interior upon opening the car door we realized the dashboard was engulfed in flames.
The contact owns a 2005 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the vehicle randomly stalled more than three times. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
Reading numerous complaints that compare to mine the fuel gauge, oil gauges, air conditioner are all malfunctioning in my car and I'm very upset because all of this should have been recalled. I purchased my car brand new in 2005 and I will never buy a GMC car again for this reason it's one thing to recall repair parts that were broken that to repair malfunction parts. Very disappointed. In short my gauges don't work, my air conditioner only works on one side and now my headlights low bean don't work. GMC needs to recall and repair.
Front passenger side door panel caught on fire while parked in the driveway.
Service airbag light goes on and off randomly. While driving the speedometer reads 0 oil pressure guage reads no pressure, all guages read 0, then speedometer reads random speeds.
Problem with both headlight low beam malfunction; going on and off. Problem started on 1/10/16 and continues until today despite replacing both headlight low beam fuses and relay.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 GMC Envoy xl 370. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated as the engine stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was a loose bolt within the vehicles sensory system. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000. Sg.
I was driving down the highway after dark and my low beams completely went out. I could only get my high beams to work. Currently only one low beam is working and the other will not work even after changing the bulb or the fuse. I believe this is a huge safety concern especially having a young child. It was very scary going down the road at night and have your lights completely just go out. I have noticed that there are issues with 06-07 Envoys but I wanted gm to be made aware that 2005 models have been affected as well.

Vehicle intermittently stalls/stops.
While driving my 2005 GMC Envoy my speedometer will stop working and register as 0 mph even when I am moving. It also has shown me travelling at a much higher speed at times. There are many issues with this that I've found while searching the web. It is unnerving and dangerous to not know the speed you are traveling. I have started to use a gps system when I drive to show my speed.

My window controls on driver side will not roll down any window; however, you can roll down any window from specific door control. When I put down the passenger side window, while parked, the indoor lights started flashing, there were clicking noises and the passenger window went up all by itself. Totally freaked me out! it only stopped when I opened the driver side door. A couple hours later I was able to drive to another destination. When I took the keyof out, the lights flashed and again the clicking noises. It stopped when I opened the door. Of course, right before christmas and I am unable to contact dealer. I did leave a message and hopefully get fixed soon.
I was driving about 25 miles per hour @ night when all the warning lights on the dash came on and all the gauges read zero except the speedometer and tach, transmission gear selector wasn't indicating what gear I was in & radio also killed. Headlights, wipers & directions were still functional. I only had a mile to drive to get home. Parked vehicle in garage and shut off. . . . Only to discover that power locks had failed and I was locked in car, power windows were also out! removed key from ignition and forturnately the remote key fob unlocked the door. Had this been an emergency situation, I would have no way to exit the car nor would any passengers. Anyone else having this problem? I contacted dealer to aprize them of this new problem and was advised that if it's intermittent they would have problems fixing it. The vehicle seemed to reset in the morning and all dash warning lights back to normal!.
My keyless fob would not unlock door on driver side, but unlocks all other doors. My window control on driver side will not roll down any window; however, you can roll down any window from specific door control. I am not sure what is going on but definitely will have to get this fixed.
The oil pressure gauge is reading above 80. Had oil changed immediately. Was told that there have been complaints regarding the mis reading of the instrument panel. Contacted gm and was told that at this time they are not covering the repairs and that it is the consumers responsibility to replace the engine sensor system. Gm has some of the rudest and nastiest customer service representatives. I had to call 3 times in one day. They even hung up on me . I spoke with jonathan, connie and veronica. I asked about the safety of the vehicle and other potential problems, such as engine fire or entire system shutting down and not responding. They had absolutely no answer for me other than they are not covering the cost of the repair.
The speedometer has been an ongoing problem, with it not working properly. It will go out of wack while driving, and you do not know what your speed is when it drops past the 120 mph range, then when vehicle is stopped, it may read 60 or 70 mph range. People are making complaints all over about this as well as the gas gauge doing the same thing. GMC dealer states that there are no recalls on these problems. These are safety related problems, and need to be recalled. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle (still in force), with a $100 deductible, but why should the warranty company pay for this, if it is a problem with gm (many makes and models, not just mine). I also know for fact, what the problem is, and that is these gauges have "stepper motors", that control the "needle" that shows speed, fuel, rpm, ect, and the stepper motors are the defective part. When the stepper motors are replaced, they have a new part number, as the defective ones have the old part number. All gm dealers are aware of this, yet refuse to replace at there cost. If the oem equipment was fine, then why are the replacements different and with a new part number. My GMC dealer ship, won't even replace the stepper motors, and want to replace the entire instrument cluster. This again is a safety issue, and a money issue, as I know first hand after receiving a $165 speeding ticket, not knowing how fast I was going with no traffic around. The gas gauge may read half a tank, and then you stall out on the freeway, and get rear ended, which at those speeds, hope you or the person that rear ends you survive! not to mention an insurance claim (auto and/or bi claim), and/or a possible death. By the way, I am an auto insurance adjuster by trade, and have been for 34 years. I simply want a recall on this ongoing problem, so folks can drive down the road safely again, with peace of mind.
Drivers side window module became inoperable. While traveling on the highway a lot of smoke started coming from the panel causing us to pull over, open the door and turn the engine off. It never started fire but heavy smoke came out for about 10 mins and left a strong electrical smoke odor for hours. Window panel is now completely inoperable.
Fuel sensors affecting proper read out on fuel guage. Window an door lock switches on driver side door does not work properly. Works when it wants to. Clips on headlight an grill assembly constantly coming loose. I have contacted gm. About wrong fuel readings they told me the problem is fuel sensors in the tank but will not pay for repairs due to closed recall. This problem has resulted in running out of fuel mutiple times. Even though this problem and other problems has just recently started. The cost is over 600. 00 dollars that I should not have to pay. . . . .
