Failure Date: 01/07/2011

The gas gauge on my 2006 Envoy starting acting crazy going from empty to full and mostly staying on empty all the time. This has been a command problem with this model and other gm vehicles and should be recalled. I haven't been left on the side orf the road or rearended yet from running out of gas, but it's certanly a concern.

42 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2010

2006 GMC Envoy xl - fuel gage not functioning occasionally reads empty with service engine light on even after filling up. Appears common issue with this model. Vehicle running out of fuel without warning can lead to serious consequences especially on highway. With numerous filed complaints, unfavorable blogs documenting the issue and gm dealers / service well aware of the problem it is time for a repair of this manufacturer's problem.

43 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2010

Fuel gauge on 2006 Envoy reads empty all the time after functionally fluctuating for some time. This is a dangerous situation driving long distances as it is impossible to guess accurately the amount of fuel in the car. Repair is expensive and this is apparently a common defect in these vehicles.

44 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2010

Well documented elsewhere--fuel gauge failure in GMC Envoy, vehicle out of warranty.

45 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was fluctuating and providing inaccurate readings when refueling the vehicle. 46 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

Gas gauge failed to work correctly. It would read empty after just filling up, sometimes it would appear to work and show there was more or less gas than there actually was. Ran out of gas a few times, due to failure of the gas gauge. Finally had to have it replaced (some sort of sensor), cost a few hundred dollars to replace.

47 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2010

Filled up 06 GMC Envoy with gasoline and gas gauge never made it to the fill line. Now the engine light is on and the gas gauge reads empty and the gas light is now on. Very concerned with the number of complaints on this site and nothing has been done by GMC. All I drive is GMC vehicles and GMC should do the right thing for its loyal customers.

48 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

My gas gauge started off fluctuating between full and empty back in October 2010. Now it's just stuck on empty all the time, and as soon as I turn the car on, the low fuel bell dings, the panel tells me I have low fuel (even if its full), and the check engine light comes on.

49 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2010

Gas guage does not function correctly.

50 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2010

I have a 2006 GMC Envoy with 51,000 miles on it. The fuel gauge would fluctuate between empty and full and now is stuck on empty. It has left my wife on the side of the road a few times because she had no idea how much fuel she had. One time in the middle of the night on a business trip. I don't want my wife stuck in the middle of nowhere because gm is to cheap to fix a very widespread problem on this issue. There are numerous TSB's on this issue on the internet concerning this issue with gm vehicles. They know the problem but when you contact them they say it isn't covered and will cost around $800 to fix. I s shouldn't have to pay for a fix to a very well known problem on a vehicle not that old. This is very much a safety issue when the car shuts down and you loose power steering in the middle of traffic, not to mention stuck in the middle of nowhere. Sooner or later it will cause a wreck if it hasn't already.

51 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2010

Faulty fuel gauge sensor, as well as a faulty instrument panel. The fuel gauge indicates there is no fuel when I have just filled up my 2006 GMC Envoy. Started with filling up my SUV and after I got gas, the gauge dropped to empty with the bell chiming low fuel. The check engine light stays on constantly even after having the car serviced. It goes off intermittenly. Definitely dangerous as you do not know when you will run out of gas, especially with traveling with young children.

52 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

The fuel gauge does not read correctly. This has caused the vehicle to run out of gas several times now in the middle of traffic due to the gauge telling me I had more fuel than I actually had.

53 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2010

2006 Envoy. Sending unit failure. Gas gauge fluctuates between full and empty. Immediately following a fill up, the gas light comes on and the gauge is on "e".

54 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

My gas light comes on and stays on. Even if I fill my car the gas stays on empty and the light is on, it used to go back up and then drop but now it doesnt move. The engine light is on too.

55 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2010

I have a 2006 GMC Envoy. The gas gauge has been sticking and not showing correct gas reading. Very frustrating and after research it seems to be a common problem. Too expensive to fix. There should be re-call. GMC will be losing a lot of business if they can't rectify this for people. What a shame!.

56 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

Fuel gauge does not work.

57 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2010

Fuel level sensor quit working.

58 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2010

GMC Envoy 2006 fuel gauge reads incorrect fuel level beginning on 8 June 2010 (the vehicle had less fuel than the fuel gauge stated it had). Problem persists through the remainder of the month and into July. Beginning on 15 Aug 2010, fuel gauge would constantly change readings from e to f and vice versa for a few days immediately after each fill-up.

59 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

1) fuel gauge reads empty- has been like this for about 6 months. Began as an intermittent problem, but now is always on empty. 2) power steering: makes a whirring sound when I turn the steering wheel - beaman GMC service in nashville has the detailed records, but I brought it in before for this, and it was repaired temporarily, but the sound has been back again for several months.

60 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Check engine light on. . . Fuel gauge says empty. . . Bell indicates no fuel. This comes on right after I fuel up.

61 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2010

Inaccurate and/or erratic fuel level indication, due to faulty fuel level sending unit, can result in vehicle running out of fuel with no warning to the driver ultimately resulting an unsafe driving condition with possible danger to the driver, passenger and surrounding vehicles and pedestrians.

62 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2010

Gauge does not work engine gas light is always on. Gas cap indicator is on and off. Changed on 3rd gas cap.

63 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2010

In early 2010 my 2006 GMC Envoy began having issues with the fuel gauge immediately after a fill up. The gauge reads empty, the check engine light comes on then the gauge will rise and fall for the next 50 to 100 miles.

64 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2010

Fuel gauge failure.

65 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2010

Erratic fuel gauge problem started at 110,000 miles on 2006 GMC Envoy sle awd and was noted on a dealership visit. Unfortunately now has 150,000 miles when the . Vehicle has run out of fuel on freeway with wife and children, and almost caused several accidents. It has required numerous aaa calls for fuel over the past years and has created a many hours of inconvenience and lost of work. Me and my wife have been stranded on the roadside over 15 times due to faulty fuel readings. Problem has been too costly to repair so we have to now rely on resetting the trip odometer. This is a safety concern that should be more than a safety bulletin for only vehicles up to 120,000 miles. This is a farce to the GMC and chevy owner community. Is the NHTSA waiting for people to die before making this a total recall to pay for repairs for all owners of these products? this is a failed design that must be corrected for public safety sake. Please work with the manufacturers to address this issue fairly, equitable, and honestly. Thank you. And may god have mercy on those with the power to make the right choice to do the right thing for the consumers of these products. Thank you again.

66 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2010

Gas gauge reads empty after filling, then slowly moves up after driving but will continue to lose pressure until it reads empty and the light is on, then the check engine light came on.

67 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2010

2006 GMC Envoy fuel gauge began behaving erratically March 14, 2010. After refueling, gauge reads empty. Usually recovers after driving 10-25 miles. Difficult to know if refueling necessary. Vehicle warranty recently expired. It appears there are numerous similar complaints online and it is expensive ($700 - $800) to repair. We live in a rural area and often drive routes with 20 to 60 mile stretches without service stations. This is an ongoing problem. Please investigate faulty mechanism.

68 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2010

Fuel level erratic then was on empty replaced sensor -out of warranty.

69 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2010

Fuel gauge stopped working properly.

70 Gasoline Fuel System problem

Failure Date: 02/06/2010

My 2006 GMC Envoy started experiencing gas gauge problems. After a few calls and finding a website called topix. Com, I see over three hundred complaints about this problem, many also at fixya. Com. This is a very expensive fix and most can not afford this unless it is under warranty, which I find most are not.
