14 problems related to other fuel system fuel gauge have been reported for the 2006 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Fuel gauge doesn't work.
Driving on the highway after putting fuel in and fuel gauge suddenly shows empty and my vehicle stalled. The fuel guage would then show full at times then empty. Now it shows empty all the time and has stalled 3 more times while driving in traffic.
Initially, when the car was filled with fuel, it immediately indicated that the car was empty and the engine light came on. Once you used a couple of gallons the fuel gauge began working and the engine light went off. Just recently the system is not correcting itself and the fuel gauge will constantly go between full and empty so I never know how much fuel I have in it. Also the engine light is remaining on.
Initially, when the car was filled with fuel, the fuel gauge would automatically go to empty and the engine light would come on. After driving several miles, the gauge would correct itself and the engine light would go off. After months of this, the system does not correct itself and I never know how much gas I have - it constantly goes from full to empty.
Fuel gauge goes to empty when full stopped in traffic on i75 with grand babies they say its the fuel sensor and sending units are bad.
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali. The contact stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge went to empty and the check engine light illuminated. The contact was told at a parts store that the fuel sending sensor failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000 and the current mileage was 67,000.
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the fuel gauge intermittently failed. The contact also mentioned that strong fuel fumes emitted from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel lever sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. The contact stated while driving 40 mph the fuel gauge began to show empty even though the vehicle had fuel. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic and the fuel sensor gauge was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 112,900 and the current mileage was 112,980.
The contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy denali. While refueling the contact noticed that the fuel gauge reading was inaccurate and had become erratic. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
Driving on the highway the vehicle suddenly read empty on the fuel gauge, then the panel said low oil pressure shut off engine. I ran out of gas on a busy highway passing lane almost causing a bad accident with my 5 year old in the back seat as I could not tell my fuel level. The fuel gauge would work sporadically over the next few days and the low oil pressure would go away and come back. When I had this checked out it was thought to be the oil sending unit so it was changed along with the fuel sending unit. The fuel sensor was resolved at a cost of $300 but the low oil pressure came back on even though oil was well maintained. Suddenly on 3/1/2012 the engine ran load when started up. I had towed to the shop where (gm where they determined the engine was no good. I had it towed to another shop that determined the engine was no good as well. I had to pay to replace the engine almost $5000. I then looked online for this issue and found a website trailvoy. Com (represent chevy trailblazer and GMC Envoy). Here I found 1000's of post of people having the same issues looking to file law suits and wondering why we can have no recall on this dangerous vehicle. There ore 1000's of people having low oil pressure, dead engines with low mileage vehicles, run out of gas on busy roads such as myself and much much more. The gm issues we've experienced and are experiencing has been here long before the current issues of gm vehicles. How can we get someone willing to have this vehicle and issues on the recall list and get reimbursed for the 1000's of dollars spent to repair this very defective vehicle. If a petition will do it please shine some light on this. I had received post on the forum from numerous people willing to join a class action suit and many were consulting attorneys on how to move forward with this. This is a major issue that we desperately need the NHTSA to look into.

Fuel gauge is inaccurate. Reads completely empty then moves up and down while driving around town. I never know how much gas I really have in it.
2006 GMC Envoy denali xl- fuel gauge is broken. Goes from empty to full often. I've seen several other complaints about this and the dealership is saying this is a common problem. . . Where is the recall????.
1. Started with horn honking on its own, radio turning on and off and heating and cooling turning on and off and battery being drained. Dealer replaced 2 batteries. 2. Stabilitrak warning light would intermittently come on and say it needed serviced. 3. Gas gauge started malfunctioning after a fill up. Needle would fluctuate and eventually remain on e. Was told by dealer it was either the fuel level sensor or instrument panel. 4. Vehicle started to jerk forward when sitting at stop light. Jerks are strong enough that you feel like you were rear ended. Then started noticing the jerks while driving at highway speed. 5. Oil gauge began fluctuating from high to low. Was again told it was a bad instrument panel . 6. Rear air suspension began deflating when vehicle would sit for long periods of time. Low enough that tires almost touch top of wheel well. Compressor would come on and rear end would come back up to normal. Now it deflates over short periods of time and takes a considerably longer amount of time to reinflate. I am now noticing that it is deflating some while driving. If you hit a bump you can feel the tire hit the top of wheel well. Dealer could not explain the jerking. Was told there was probably an electrical problem causing things to come on and off. Fuel gauge is being replaced free as a defective part. Was told rear suspension was most likely a dead compressor and tires could possibly rub or blow out if suspension deflates while driving.
