Five problems related to other fuel system tank filling/charging have been reported for the 2006 GMC Envoy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2017

Gas light stays on constantly even after filling car up. Daughter was put in danger because when first started couldnt tell how much fuel was in tank and ran out of gas while driving from work on busy city street.

2 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2013

Fuel gauge reads empty even when tank is full. First noticed issue several months ago, after filling the tank. The gauge would begin reading correctly after driving for a while. Ran out of fuel in Feb. Due to inaccurate reading. Currently gauge has been reading empty for 4 weeks, even after several trips to the gas station.

3 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2012

Gas gauge malfunctions after filling vehicle due to repeated, documented manufacturers defect in gas tank fuel sensor, possibily leading to a complete failure of indication system.

4 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2011

Vehicle fuel gage shows empty after filling fuel tank. After driving 30-50 miles, fuel gage appears normal. This started about 30 days ago. More recently, however, fuel gage is inconsistent even after the 30+ miles. Some times it shows full, one half. I must refuel vehicle more often to be sure there is fuel in the tank.

5 Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2011

Two months ago after filling up my 2006 Envoy xl with gas, a previously normally functioing fuel gauge suddenly read empty and the audible warning kept sounding though I knew it had a full tank. The gauge would start to go up, but then when I would turn the vehicle off, it would read empty again. As I was driving, the gauge would fluctuate between empty and full no matter how much fuel was in the tank. A trip to the dealer showed that I had a fautly fuel sensor. They said that if I drove it around like that the vehicle could suddenly stall. I had to have the fuel sensor replaced at my own expense as it is out of warranty.
