GMC Envoy owners have reported 13 problems related to fog light switch (under the exterior lighting category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I purchased this vehicle with new tires on it. Excessive tire wear was starting on the drivers side tire before the year mark of me purchasing it. There was no recalls open on that time that we could find. I have had to replace the fog lights on several occasions. It had electrical short that no one seemed to find and there was no way to locate without expensive diagnostic time. When I went to the dealer about recalls they informed me the only open was a window switch. After a front end accident at 30 mph the tire blew out on the drivers side on impact. I was informed in my estimate that there was a open recall which could lead to incorrect rim selection / tires for the car causing air leakage and possible accident. If I had known this before hand maybe this could have been prevented!.

The headlines turn off by themselves while I am driving at night. This problem has been going on since January of 2015. I have taken the vehicle to several shops, and even the dealer, but nobody knows how to fix the problem. Currently, the headlights only work in high beam. I drive with high beam lights and fog lights. Either way it is a safety issue. High beams can cause accidents. Driving with no lights can cause accidents. Lights shutting off while I am driving can cause accidents and/or death.

My complaint is regarding low beam lights going off intermittently. There is a GMC recall for this same problem, but my vehicle isn't included. This issue creates a safety hazard when it happens due to either driving with high beams on or just fog lights on. GMC needs to re-evaluate this issue and include more vehicles. They know the problem exists and should make efforts to include all affected vehicles.

Both of my low beam head lights went out at the same time. I looked this up and found out that there was a recall on this on August 14, 2015 and I was not notified about this recall. I was pulling my vehicle into my garage when I noticed the lights were out. I checked both bulbs and fuses and they were all okay. The high beams, fog lights and turn signals work, just not the low beams on either side.
It was dark- almost 9:00, I turned my car on, everything stared fine, lights came on automatically as normal. Then I started driving came to a red light and they just went out, both of them at the same time. I was confused, I thought maybe somehow the switch got bumped so I was frantically turning the knob trying to get the lights to come back on. I couldn't understand what happened. None of the settings worked, not automatically, manual. I pushed the fog light button and those came on fine so I kept those on and turned around and went home. My husband and I then tried to find the source like a bad fuse but all other lights are workig, blinkers, highbeams, breaklights, reverse lights, interier lights, fog lights. We have not been able to get them back on.
I was driving on a curvy 2 lane road in the country and the sun was just setting and I couldn't get any lights on my car. My lights are automatic and I just assumed that I had bumped a button and accidently turned them off, so I started turning the switch to turn them on and it wasn't working. I almost drove off the road several times trying to get some light on. I then hit a section where tree lined curved section that was pretty dark. There had been no shoulder or anywhere to pull over there or for several miles. I could get bights lights, but no dim. I ended up driving with my fog lights, unknowingly at the time. We had just replace the bulbs 5 months before but we tried new bulbs and fuses to see if this would fix the problem. Unfortunately, it didn't. I have noticed a recall on lights for the Envoy years 06-07 for what seems like the same reason and mine is an 05.

Headlights are not working. Only high beams and fog lights.
Headlights go out. Has happened several times while driving and 1 time would not come on when vehicle was started at night. If we had not had fog lights, we could have a bad accident or at very least been stranded on the side of the road.
Driving down two lane highway at night and the headlights quit working. Turned on fog lights and thankfully they worked. Drove approximately 5 miles to my home. The headlights worked fine the next day.
While going approximately 60 mph the low beam headlights just go out with only the parking lights and fog lights working. Also most of the gauges on the instrument panel do not work including the gas gauge. After some internet research many others are having these same issues.
While driving my headlights have begun to cut off for about 5 to 10 minutes, then come back on. If not for my fog lights I would not be able to see.
Riding on freeway and headlights suddenly went off in dark area. Cut on fog lamps and headlights came back on after couple miles of travel. They have not went off yet again but would be dangerous on curve road. Problem maybe in turn signal control. Cruise went out day before and came back. All located in same switch. Called GMC and told them of problem. Have not went off again yet. Talked to dealer and they want to see it with problem.

The rear brake lights are out as well as the passenger side fog light. I need to confirm that this is an electrical problem, I have met 2 additional owners of GMC Envoys that are experiencing the same problems.
