My 2004 GMC Envoy slid into a curb and rolled on its side. I believe that the accident was caused by ball joint failure. I could not get any assistance in the investigation, but I know that the accident was caused by mechanical failure and have pictures and witnesses for this accident. The vehicle was totaled as a result of this accident. This vehicle was purchased new and never had any repairs or work done on the drivers side front wheel. It was a 2004 model with around 20000 miles. I would any information that you can provide and would also like to go on the record with this complaint against gmac. I would hope to keep someone from losing their life due to this mechanical problem. The loss due to this accident was over 30,000 dollars.

On Monday, 5/3/04, my son backed our 1998 GMC Envoy out of his garage. The left front end dropped to the ground. According to GMC dealer, the ball joint and cv joints failed. Dealer advised us recall had been issued for GMC jimmys up to 1996 year, but nothing for 1998. Had my son been driving on the highway, serious injury or worse could have resulted.

Contacted GMC and had a return reply by cac@GMC. Com apologizing for my dissatisfaction of having the upper and lower ball joints needed to be replace. That in my family we have 3 jimmy's and all of them different years, needing the same repair. This person said that I could log a complaint, in so, this is why I'm passing this on to this department.
