GMC Envoy owners have reported 53 problems related to suspension (under the suspension category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I purchased my Envoy from a used car lot with no warning lights and no apparent safety concerns about 2 yrs ago other then what appeared to be a replaced front bumper cover and the vehicle was repainted the same color white, since then the brakes have intermittently not disengaged on one side or the other I believe it's the front brakes and seems to be worse after a longer drives and after bleeding the system the pedal would be firm and next day spongy feeling and going down rather far. Air bags did not deploy apon impact. It is available for inspiration although I am attempting to repair it after my accident the brakes are still as they were. I have tried both on as well as performance pads and rotors booster check valve and fluid replacement with no change. I was coming back from my daughter's dentist appointment it is 20 minutes away the roads were very slick with snow and sleet, I got off the hwy and coming through town I braked to slow from 45 to 35mph before crossing the intersection when I let off the brake the left side stayed engaged enough to cause the vehicle to pull to the left and I couldn't steer straight because of the snow and was forced to hit 2 traffic light posts in the center median. Usually on dry roads I can tap the pedal and keep it straight until the brakes released. I first noticed it changing pads when I 1st purchased it that the front tires spin harder while jaked up and when it continued I figured it was alignment or steering components worn but even after parts replaced a 2 alignments nothing changed, after my last alignment the technician said the brakes need to be bled and I told him the issue he was unsure the cause. I did not have any air bags deploy in this accident and the sensors were clearly effected as the bumper caved in the center. The vehicle also has had uneven ride height due to independent sensors in the rear. The vehicle now has a service airbag and service brakes light. Other owners have similar issues with their Envoys.

Air in auto leveling bleeds off at night leaving extremely low clearance in rear suspension. Some compressor running during driving, and assuming some leaking during vehicle operation. Rear air bags replaced, same problems exist.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 GMC Envoy. While driving approximately 10 mph in the snow, the contact skidded across a block of ice and crashed the vehicle into a curb. The vehicle spun around before stopping. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained an injury that did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not damaged; however, an unusual sound was heard. Prior to the crash, the rear axle dropped very low and caused the vehicle to ride bumpy. Whenever a bump was struck, while driving at any speed, the contact's head struck the roof, causing neck and back pain. The contact called lkl motors at 253-466-7222 (located at 6204 112th st e, puyallup, wa 98373), which was where the vehicle was purchased. The dealer stated that the vehicle was normal. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
Takata recall ? air ride suspension failure, over inflation resulting in a excessive bouncing ride and loss of traction on other sites I see that this was a 92% complain rate.
I purchased this vehicle with new tires on it. Excessive tire wear was starting on the drivers side tire before the year mark of me purchasing it. There was no recalls open on that time that we could find. I have had to replace the fog lights on several occasions. It had electrical short that no one seemed to find and there was no way to locate without expensive diagnostic time. When I went to the dealer about recalls they informed me the only open was a window switch. After a front end accident at 30 mph the tire blew out on the drivers side on impact. I was informed in my estimate that there was a open recall which could lead to incorrect rim selection / tires for the car causing air leakage and possible accident. If I had known this before hand maybe this could have been prevented!.
The rear of my car lowers down extremely low, just about every time I turn of the car. It has been happening for many, many, months, and it has gotten worse over time. Once I crank it up, I basically have to wait for it to rise up. I have noticed many complaints about this issue online. I know GMC knows about this issue, and they should look into corrected this issue.

While driving, in pitch black darkness on 6/10/2016 around 1:00 am, my headlights suddenly went off. The only way I could obtain lights was using the high beams. Low beams do not work and high beam only works in manual on/off mode. We checked the lamps and fuses. All are in excellent condition. I have no lights while driving or in park. The side view mirrors move on there own and at any time, while driving , in park and when the car is not running. This has been going on since the door panel recall was repaired. The dealer has informed me that there is no recall on that either. Last year (2015) I had to replace the airbags (suspension) on both rear wheels. The car would drop down lower than any mid size car. Once started the bags would inflate but the car may drop at any give time while driving. Gm did not cover this cost and the dealer wanted over $1200. 00 to repair. Prior to that the gas gauge quit working. Which gm did cover the repair cost but I never received a recall. I just happened to be at the dealer for the driver door recall and mentioned it.
Inflator stopped working, air bag blew out while on freeway!.
Takata recall I have had to make many repairs on this vehicle. However, now the lifters in the engine collapsed. The vehicle only has about 87,000 miles on it. This is unacceptable. There have been many complaints about this vehicle and the lifters collapsing. We are a one income family and the repairs to this vehicle are astronomical. Well over 3500. 00 dollars. This vehicle is not drivable and has been sitting for a year now at my mechanics. The vehicle is of no use to me and has become a huge paper weight now. The worst part is I still owe on the vehicle too. Gm needs to take responsibility and do a recall on this vehicle for the afm lifters, or pay for the repairs to this vehicle. I will never buy another gm product again. Own up to your mistakes and take accountability for this problem. I am not the only one this has happened to. Very disappointed in this vehicle that is suppose to be american made!!!!!!! then you want to know why people are buying more foreign made cars. They seem to be more reliable than the gm products.

My 2007 gms denali Envoy lowers itself independently when not be driven for about 6 hours or more. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and told that there is a leak in the rear bags. The vehicle was not repaired. I took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for a second opinion. His findings were the same and cheaper in the price to repair.
We own a 2006 GMC Envoy denali xl we notice that the vehicle's rear suspension air ride air bags were deflating. Know it got worst ,they deflate while driving, once they deflate completely while driving it makes it very dangerous to drive because all the weight sits on the back of the vehicle, whitch makes the front very light and the vehicle trends to glyed side to side . Just last nite comming back from dinner the bags deflated while driving at 65 mph almost lost control of the vehicle because it stated glyding side to side. Is anybody out there with same vehicle and similar issue?.

Was inspecting car and had several complaints to dealership that front end had a strange noise when we go over a rough road. While trying to figure out where fuel smell is coming from I noticed a crack on the weld next to the shock mount . I also noticed that there has been a previous repair there because we have had this car since it was new all I can think is that they saw this and did a repair and not telling us so if your car is creaking check the front end could be falling apart.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 GMC Envoy denali. The contact stated that the rear air suspension released independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The mechanic diagnosed that the air suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000. The VIN number was not available. Pam.
I was traveling over a bridge on ramp from one interstate frwy to another . Got to curve on bridge and had to abruptly put the brakes on I felt a snap in break pedal then no brakes as I got off the curve and released brake the brakes are fine but now I get a bad shaking in front when speeds of 65 and over like the tires are wobbling . I bought the vehicle used and the first day engine blew . They say it was a rebuild I feel so ripped off . Also the tire warming lights are and sometimes off . Please help me.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the rear end and the air suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. There are times when I don't know if my vehicle will start. I put the key in and sometimes it starts right up and other times, I have to keep turning and turning and wait until it will catch on. There were times where I had wait up to an hour for my car to start. I never know when because I don't have an indicator when the vehicle will decide to start. There have been times when it would work fine for one month with no incident, then it will not switch on. Seems like when I take it to the shop, that is when the car decides to act right. And the service stabilitrack light has been on since I purchaed the vehicle only to find out that I need a rack and pinion. I really think the ignition switch should be recalled. I contacted the dealer and they informed me that my vehicle was not on the recall list.

The air suspension fails to inflate.
My service stabilitrak and air bag lights has been on since I purchased the vehicle. I have taken it to a mechanic and they stated that they did not see a problem. I was wondering if this is an on-going issue and if there are any recalls for this.
GMC is suppose to be quality however, the rear supension starts out getting lower and lower until the rear suspension dropped to the point that the vehicle was unsafe to be driven. Because the truck was sitting on the rear tires and if the vehicle were to be driven, the tires would blow out and cause a crash and possibly a fatality! there are several complaint and concearns about the same issue yet nothing is being done.
The speedometer and tachometer of the SUV began to indicate incorrect readings. The speedometer works fine until we go on the highway and travel with the cruise control set between 65-70. Then they will read the incorrect speed for a week or so then start working fine again. The tachometer needle just "hangs. " I talked to 2 different repair shops who adviced me that this is a common problem with enovy's and trailblazers. The cost to do this is over $500 or more. It appears that several other 2004 GMC Envoy owners are experiencing this same problem. A recall should be in order. When I talked to the repair shops they said before they can correct the issue under my extended warranty is to see it happen. Each time I had an appt set it would start working before the appt date so there is nothing they can do. Very irritated that GMC doesn't address this now.
Where the top of the nesk of the fuel tank meets the fuel pump it is broken where the 2 meet. Fuel vapors, as well as actual fuel leaking on the ground r both present. Stationary , as well as, in motion.
When the weather got below freezing, the air bag suspension would not air up. Now, every time I turn off my car, the suspension goes down and it will not air back up until I turn the car back on. If I have passengers in the back seat the suspension will not work. Several times the suspension has deflated while I was driving and if I'm going at highway speeds, the vehicle begins to shake and wobble back and forth. It is very scary and I don't even like having my kids in the car because it seems so dangerous. I have read countless complaints on the internet about other Envoy owners having the same problem. This should be on gm's recall list.
I was doing preventative maintenance on my 2005 GMC Envoy and while I had the passenger side wheel off I had noticed a fairly large rusted hole in the side of the frame to the left of the shock tower. I couldnt believe that a 2005 vehicle had frame rust that went clear through the vehicle. I have a 1981 Jeep that I use as a farm vehicle doesn't even have frame rust through. I am sure that before this vehicle is paid off it will have a broken frame soon. I just checked the hole yesterday and it is getting larger. Very poor metal used in these frames. Not satisfied. A frame ought to last longer than that.
In March 2012 I had motor mounts installed on my 2005 GMC Envoy at the dealership jay GMC Buick columbus georgia. On August 26,2013 they are telling me I need new motor mounts because of the age of vehicle and miles they need to be replace. I guess parts are old and professional installing is old to. During this same time had a tune-up {major} and now have to have coil and plug install. This make it seem paying for professional serve is a waste of time. My fuel injector also needs cleaning again. In the future I can only expect 40,000 miles on anything fixed by dealer.
The rear end began deflating after sitting overnight. At first it would air back up when started immediately. Then it began to take a long time to air back up. It recently began deflating all of the time, even when driving. Now it will not air up at all. The motor runs but nothing happens. The vehicle has been serviced by the dealership to no avail. Each time, there is some new replacement part that must be purchased. This is a safety hazard and the manufacturer should recall this vehicle.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while changing the tires, the springs came off the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the springs were replaced, but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. St.
Vehicle was sitting low to the ground and bouncing around taking it to the shop looks like airride out. Just happened over night.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was stated that the rear suspension system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
Tl-the contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that the rear shocks were leaking, causing the rear of the vehicle to drop onto the wheel well. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the dealer replaced the air lines. The air line replacement only remedied the issue temporarily. The contact did not take the vehicle back to the dealer or a local mechanic for further repairs. The failure mileage was 132,000. Kmj.
Due to the check engine light constantly coming on I was told that I needed a new gas cap. It was stated if the cap is not on properly it affects the emission conrols. I have replaced the gas cap several times nothing has changed engine light goes on and off. There still has not been accurate justification for this matter. Vehicle has faulty / leaking air bags on the rear suspension. Upon research this has been a problem on GMC vehicles from 1994 ~ 2006. Why are there no recalls? GMC Envoy vehicle are sitting very low during freezing tempatures. Upon starting the vehicle it will rasie back up and level itself but it should not drop down low period. Websites are flooded with complaints. I have contacted GMC regarding all these issues and nothing has been done. I was told there were no recalls regarding these matters which I don't understand. I have viewed so many complaints on several websites regarding these same issues. Exterior lights~ lamps have faulty sockets due to moisture getting inside the lamps / back up lamps. Bulbs burning out continuously. Unfortunately when you take your vehicle to a frequent dealer, many times they'll step outside to check your vehicle quickly without putting you in the system if they feel no service is required. I believe this may be why these complaints are not being addressed/ reported / or recorded. It is apparent there are serious problems with these vehicles. Something needs to be done, and we should not have to deal with repeat manufacturer defects/hazards year after year. It is not fair to us (the customer). They can continually contact you to trade in your vehicle or buy it, but they can't contact you regarding defects on the vehicle. I was told they only notify the original owner of recalls. Again they'll contact you regarding marketing and advertising. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
After having the car serviced at the dealer I noticed the rear suspension was sagging. I had this checked at the dealer but they could find no problem. The rear suspension still will sag but not with any regularity, sometimes in one night, other times 3-4 nights.
Fuel gauge stopped working and the front end sounds like its loose. I have a five year old and can;t even tell when I'm low on gas and I'm not sure what's going on with the front end.
The contact owns a 2007 GMC Envoy. While examinig the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear end had fallen to the ground and would not return to its proper height. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, where the contact was informed that the air bags inside of the air suspension needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 100,000.
