1 Power Train problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/12/2021

All the gages have stopped working correctly. They do not report proper information to driver . The electrical wiring to the rear wiper, license plate lights and rear hatch stopped working. The most dangerous thing is the abs brake system dash lights and bell comes on every time the car is driven and the brake pedal goes to the floor when trying to stop.

2 Power Train problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/13/2020

Shift cable broke between the shifter and the transmission while shifting from drive to reverse to park on a street. If this had happen while shifting down gear to lower speed while driving down a hill, a loss of control of the vehicle would have happen that would have led to a crash with extreme property damage and most likely driver and passenger injury and possible death. The vehicle was towed to ourisman Chevrolet in marlow heights maryland for repair after the tow truck driver manually shifted the transmission into drive from underneath the vehicle that would've been extremely dangerous for the tow driver to do if the vehicle had been facing down hill or in a heavy traffic situation. For some reason, however, my vehicle still hasn't been repaired nor have I've been given a reason as to why.

3 Power Train problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 11/26/2019

My vehicle when purchased was altered from cloth seats to leather by the dealership where purchased. 3 days ago my car is signaling me to service airbag while driving the car or in idle. So I immediately took it to a certified mechanic at meineke and was told that this is a manufacturer defect and there is a recall for this on my year, make & model SUV. I called gm on 11/29/2019 and was told by a supervisor named angel there has been no recalls by their manufacturer and there is nothing more she can do about the matter. I cannot drive my car like this knowing this can be potentially harmful and hazardous.

4 Power Train problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/27/2018

Radiator and transmission went while driving on a highway. My mechanic told me the part that failed never fails and he was shocked that it did.

5 Power Train problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/28/2015

While driving the Envoy at about 45 mph, a warning light saying "reduced engine power" came on suddenly, the car dropped down to about 20 mph, and that continues to occur. I can turn off and restart the car, but the problem returns within a minute after driving it again. I started investigating what that means online, and, as with anything else on the internet, I see many opinions, guesses, and possibilities. Could be a bad sensor, bad throttle control, bad wire connections, etc. But this much appears clear: (1) it is a gm problem, and a very, very common one. (2) it is a dangerous problem. This seems pretty obvious - the car suddenly loses speed and evidently sometimes stalls out altogether. But hearing about so many other people's scary experiences just confirms this. (3) it can be difficult and expensive to diagnose and fix. When I think of these facts, coupled with gm's recent history, I immediately think "recall. " this certainly appears to be an appropriate situation for a manufacturer to step in and fix the issue before more people get angry with gm, get hurt, or get killed. I called the dealer who sold the car (I am the second owner), in columbus, ohio. I was told that I can bring it in for a diagnosis for $110. (gee, thanks - wouldn't have thought of that. ) the customer rep looked up the VIN and said that the vehicle was not eligible for recall or any special policy. Therefore, I am contacting you in hope that something else can be done.

6 Power Train problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 11/02/2015

When starting my vehicle and start to drive I notice 2 check engine lights pop on. One engine light has a arrow pointing down and the other just have the engine light symbol and the my speed starts to reduce a lot. I will pull over to the side of the road shut the car off wait for 5-10 minutes and crank it up and after maybe 15-20 minutes of driving it pops back on. I've had the mechanic to diagnostic machine and he has said the throttle body needs changing, had that done and the same problem came back. So I had my old one put back on and then the mechanic say maybe it's the gas pedal sensor. Had that changed and the problem is still their. I love my truck but I don't have the money to kep trying to fix this problem. I need help, from someone, please.

To start off, when you go in drive and start to move the truck lost power to the motor but still stayed running. Seemed like the truck didn't know if it wanted to be in 4x4 or 2 wheel. I took my foot off gas and min later it was fine. Keeps happening . The driver seat back support felt like it started to over heat the motor on it, now not working at all. 19 Power Train problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 11/26/2013

This is the second occurrence of an issue with the vehicles manual switch for 2hi,awd,4hi,4low. The dealer I bought the used vehicle from fixed the issue right after purchase and I'm having another problem with the switch. I try to select anything besides 2hi and the selector will just continue to blink on the selection without any action. Sometimes the service 4wd will illuminate on the dash. This seems like a frequent occurrence/complaint of other Envoy owners online.

20 Power Train problem of the 2009 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/16/2013

Luckily I stopped at a traffic light and the car quit. I put it in park and tried to re-start it but had nothing. A police officer pulled up behind me and radioed for a tow truck. They took it to the dealership and $300. 00 dollars later said it was the ignition switch. They gave me the old switch and I still have it. Now I would like to know what would have happened if I had been on a major freeway traveling at 75-80 mph and the switch were to go out? g m is just recalling certain vehicles, what about all the rest that still have the same thing wrong with them. Is it that you have to loose your or someone you love's life before they are made to fix faulty parts? maybe they should be made to produce parts up to american standards and not third world country standards. Thank you.

21 Power Train problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/27/2013

I was driving back home and pulled in my driveway put the vehicle in parked and when I released the brake pedal the vehicle jumped and took off in reverse. I missed hitting my wife by inches. I then stopped the vehicle and restarted the vehicle and it would not start. I tried to push the button on the shifter. I then though there was something wrong with the trans. I went to the internet and search it was said to be the lockout devise. I inspected the trans and found the cable that come from the shifter to the trans was off and trans bracket was worn from use but if it had happened in a parking lot I could have hit someone or the vehicle behind me. I contacted GMC no knowledge of the safety problem I have described. I have contacted GMC my case file is 71-119-8133799. I talk with amy and junaid at ext 42846. They told me I had take it to the dealer for inspection to determine if it is a defect or wear and that the dealer would take 1 hr to inspect the vehicle which I would have to pay for. I then called 2 dealers love Chevrolet inverness FL 34453 and eagle Buick, pontiac & GMC truck homosassa FL. I was told both service reps that this happen all the time and they would confirm that it was due to wear and not a defect. But in you manual there is no provisions to inspect the shifting cable with is a safety problem which gm and th gm dealer are aware of but ignore and tell you have to buy a new cable for $75. 00 instead of supplying the bushing that has been worn out that is press fit into the cable the only defect on the cable is the bushing which cost at most $3. 00 and a very easy fit. I have a Buick rainer with the same defect VIN 5gaes13p242304957 the way tit was repaired was the shift lever on the transmission pin was remover and a bolt and nut were put in place of the oem pin on shifter and it was bolted to the shifter end of the cable none oem repair this vehicle was sold to me also by gm eagle Buick. This shows I own 2 gm vehicles both have had the same safety problem.

22 Power Train problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

I then stopped the vehicle and turned it off. Then I tried to restart the vehicle and it would not start. I tired to push the button on the shifter. I then though there was something wrong with the transmission. I then when to the internet and search what would cause the problem. Finding it was something to do with the lockout devise. I then checked inspected the transmission and found the cable that come from the shifter to the transmission was of and the bushing the was suppose to hold the cable end on the transmission bracket was defective and made my vehicle very dangerous almost hitting my wife. If it had happened in a parking lot I could have hit someone or the vehicle behind me. Contacted gmac no knowledge of the safety problem I have described.

24 Power Train problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/18/2012

First, gas gage started miss reading, then a month or 2 later it has been stuck on e with low indicator light on ever since. Second, last week my daughter stopped the vehicle, put the gear selector in park, car kept moving, dash indicator was still indicating drive and kept moving. Good thing she didn't get out of the car. I saw a big recall for gm multiple years but not my model for bad shifter cable and that is what broke. That could have been a very serious incident and could have caused someone to get seriously injured.

25 Power Train problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/13/2012

While driving vehicle, started to rough idle and almost caused a vehicle accident because I was unable to stop the car while driving, engine shutdown while driving and lost all power and braking & steering ability, restated vehicle and got burning gas smell from vehicle exhaust pipe and check engine light on with code p0014, got vehicle serviced and had new sensor installed but now getting pinging sound from engine under load and while driving at speed and minor vibration while at idle. I feel this is a serious issue with this vehicle where almost feel unsafe driving vehicle due to running risk of engine shutdown while at speed and unable to steer or brake when engine stalls due to this condition with code p0014 in cars computer. Would really like to be contacted about this issue, gm should have a recall to inspect these systems and provide free repairs of any faulty sensors and provide a full service check on this vehicles. I felt real unsafe to drive this vehicle due to worrying about causing engine damage or having a accident because of this high end failure of this componet.

26 Power Train problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. The contact stated the service four wheel drive light illuminated while the vehicle was parked. The contact stated that the four wheel drive was inoperable when the light was illuminated. The failure recurred intermittently. The dealer was contacted and advised that the switch would need to be replaced in order to correct the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

27 Power Train problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 05/03/2010

On may 3rd 2010, the truck just died in the middle of the road while driving home with my son at night. I had to quickly try to get to the side of the road without any power assist. The Envoy would not start again, not even turn over. The shifter was locked and it could not even be put into neutral to push it over to the side. Various messages scrolled by on the vehicle display and many of the warning lights were dimly blinking. I had to get it towed. I scanned the following codes p1516 & p1682, looked up the symptoms on the internet and found many hits that said the issue was with a faulty ignition switch. After charging up the battery which ran down on the hazards while waiting an hour for a tow, I replaced the ignition switch and the Envoy now works again. It has less than 30,000 miles on it. This type of failure concerns me very much! I consider it a huge safety issue that a vehicle can die while driving and then be so completely disabled by a $30 part. This could of had much more dire consequences had it happened on a freeway as opposed to a suburban side street.

28 Power Train problem of the 2006 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/03/2009

2006 GMC Envoy denali purchased. Beginning at about 10,000 miles the transmission would shift abruptly into 1st gear after the car had stopped moving. This does not happen every time but does happen often and when it does it feels as if the car has been hit from behind. Dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem but states that other owners have reported the same problem.

29 Power Train problem of the 2004 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/03/2008

I traded my 2005 Ford focus 26410 miles to wade raulerson GMC on October 3, 2007 wrote two checks in the amount of 500. 00 each that they held for four weeks for a down payment. We looked at a 2004 GMC Envoy with 65,000 miles the salesman quoted us a price of 17,000 so we did the paper work the first time on the 16th we were called in again and told we had to sign more documents this time the price of the Envoy rose to 21698. 35, I asked about my 05 focus was told it sold the next day and we had to have gap protection. Payoff on my car was 12,502. 95 and it looked as if they were giving me 14900. 00 but raised the price of the truck by 4000. 00. Bad deal to begin with. The problems began. I had to return it at the end of the month in October 2007 to have the headlights, seatbelt, and motor in the window replaced, and diagnosed to find why the service engine light will not go out. Two weeks later stranded at the daycare I had to buy a new battery. On 05/05/2008 the conditioner went out. I paid the dealership over 100. 00 to tell me it would be an additional 600. 00 plus dollars to repair the mode actuator door motor. October 17, 2008 I spent 375. 02 to have both the shift control cable and gear shift lever removed and replaced. Thank god I was actually on a parking lot when the cable broke and not in traffic. Contacting wade raulerson GMC has been useless I have practically been told you bought the "lemon" as-is now it's your troubles! there should be a law against this type of business and not just for new cars. Now no-one will touch it because of the problems it is having and the large amount that's now owed. Every time the VIN is pulled I get pushed out of the door faster than I can blink. Btw the service engine light is still on and has been since I left the dealership. I?m tired of honest hard-working people being raked over the coals by unscrupulous dealers while they get protected by the "as-is" rule then laugh all the way to the bank.

30 Power Train problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

2003 GMC Envoy sle with 42,000 miles. Check 4 wdrive light came on then went back off. Dealer stated that the tccm had to be reprogrammed due to a bulletin. It cost me out of pocket no warranties cover this. Also the fan clutches went out but was replaced by extended warranties. I'm also told by dealer that the steering links are worn & should be replaced. This too is at my cost. I have only had this car 1 year. These happened with just a few weeks of each other.

31 Power Train problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

Roaring sound, no power, vehicle can barely reach 30mph, loud noise has existed for long time (several years) and the power problem usually resolved after about 5 minutes. This is a defect. I found hundreds of owners complaining of same problem on line. Dealer replaced fan clutch.

32 Power Train problem of the 2008 GMC Envoy

Our SUV has been in the shop so many times for stability trac control electrical window switch ,two steering columns out side temp reading, new shock, new converters.

33 Power Train problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/03/2006

Recalls that are seriously affecting the car's safety that cannot be repaired because the service call has closed, but was bought that way without knowing. The wiper motor works when it wants on the driver side, preventing clear safe vision during rain, the 4 wheel drive is stuck in 4 wd, the front suspension possibly cracked, the headlight doesnt face straight on the road, the air bag on the passenger side has defect that if deployed can cause bodily infury to the passenger, license plate only works when its slammed shut, and have issue with the electrical under the dash that apparently fails to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standards no. 101, "control location, identification, and illumination" and no. 208, "occupant crash protection. . But yet gm wont repair it !!! all of these are prior recalls, but because I wasnt the original owner and didnt take the car in when they were first announced, gm refuses to make my Envoy safe from causing me or my kids harm. Because the first owner didnt do it, or because its too late. If a year make and model of a car has a recall, why does it matter when the issue surfaces, its obviously a cause for concern, why not repair it?.

34 Power Train problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/26/2005

Car switches into all 4w and higher by itself. I had been to a dealership 3 times in one year for which they were unable to find the problem. Now my warranty is up. After that I took it to a transmission shop where they supposedly fixed the problem for over 800. $ a week later it did it again. Now I have the 4wd disconnected for safety reasons. I would be driving on the freeway at 60-75 mph and if would switch and not come out no matter what I do. I have owned this vehicle for almost 5 years and it has done this the whole time. I am a single mom and I drive my 17 and 7 year old around in this car. Even with it disconnected it still tries to switch. There is no specific time, temperature, or other reason this happens. It has happened when I turn on the car and sometimes I can go a couple of weeks and other times it happens daily. I also have had my lights not go on for no reason and also the doors lock and can only be unlocked by using the key. And the hatchback will not open at all when this happens. Electrical?? help!!.
