1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/26/2020

The transmission I had to have it replaced but the one they put in it is really acting like the other transmission did no reverse and the first 2 gears were making this grinding noise I've never heard before and it happened when I was backing out the driveway to go to work lucky I made it to the place where I got it to fix it but I believe this transmission they put in it is going to do the same thing because it drives just like the old one.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/08/2015

Dear sir/madam, I have a 2003 GMC Envoy slt model 4. 2l v6 4wd and as I was backing into my garage I heard a loud bang and whinning noise and I now have no reverse gear and when I select the drive gear on the automatic transmission I have a whinning noise, I have read the blogs on this issue and I believe that gm and GMC are very aware of this problem, this repair will cost me up to $2,800. 00 plus tax to have the transmission removed and a remanufactured on replaced on my vehicle. I was just glad that this matter happened at my residence and not on some back road in west va. , I believe that as stated, gm and GMC is very aware of the problem with the 4l603 transmission that were used in these vehicles' and the problem with the sun-shell and the reaction sungears that are like a gernade exploding inside the transmission. I would like for a recall to be started on this problem and the owners to be paid back on all of these repairs.

4 Transmission Noise problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 11/02/2007

My 2003 Envoy with 68,000 was rear ended. Shortly after the accident I began to hear a cluncking noise when stopping. After I took the vehicle in to be repaired I was informed that it no longer would go in reverse. The problem appears to be the sunshell gear which seems to be a common failure with this transmission, because even though it was fine before the accident the dealer is claiming it was not caused by the accident and thus I am responsible for the estimated $2,500 to fix!.

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/05/2007

56,779 mile and transmission failed on my 2002 Envoy. Dealer told me they had never saw this happen. We had just made a 2300 mile trip to the 'no man land' of colorado. The next day my wife came to a stop sign, said the car made a weird noise and would not go. No reverse or drive but crippled it home in low. Was very surprised that the gm dealer would not back the transmission. $2,903. 94 to replace with a 1 year guarantee which is about up and I refuse to drive on a long trip again in this auto.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/26/2006

: the contact stated while traveling 25 mph, the vehicle lunged, a whirring noise occurred, and the vehicle would not accelerate. It was driven home with high rpm's and low acceleration. At the contact's residence, it was noticed that reverse did not operate. The vehicle was driven to the dealership, but would not operate above first or second gear. The dealership determined the sun shell inside the transmission failed and the transmission needed to be rebuilt.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 08/02/2005

Driving down a 4 lane interstate at 65 with cruise on, the transmission starts to wine and loses acceleration. Moved over to slow lane proceeded to get the next 35 miles home in 3rd gear (noise was make in "d"). Upon arrival home-found out that the Envoy no longer has reverse. Dealer believes there is a problem with the "sun plate" in the transmission. This Envoy only has 48,300 miles. Dealer believes this is the problem because he has seen this before and knows there is a problem. Why is there not a recall on this part or problem?? this should not be happening with any vehicle that has such low miles.

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/25/2005

Backing up my driveway and heard a "clunk" followed by a high pitched whining noise. Following this, I had no reverse and the transmission failed.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/09/2005

While cruising at highway speed (65 mph) my 2002 GMC Envoy suddenly made a loud crunching noise and lost forward motion. The engine revved up, then down, then turned off (while multiple dash warning lights came on simultaneously). I managed to get the vehicle off the road without the help of power steering or brakes, and after a few minutes I started it back up and found I could drive off only at low speed on the shoulder, though there was continued noise from the underside of the car and it was erratically performing. I immediately brought the car to a mechanic who discovered that internal parts in the transmission had failed. The mechanic also informed me that there is a GMC technical service bulletin about this and it is a common/frequent problem. The TSB recommends replacing the internal transmission parts. The mechanic says that replacing the transmission is the only safe thing to do. The local GMC dealer service department says that despite this being a known issue with these transmissions, if you are out of warranty (I am) GMC will not address the issue. Catastrophic transmission failure is bad anywhere, but on the interstate can be deadly. If anyone had been following me more closely we would have certainly caused a pile-up.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 06/01/2002

Engine stalls for no apparent reason. I have contacted dealership and they can find nothing wrong. I advised them of a recall regarding the fuel system that may affected the problem. Says they replaced the fuel filter. The first time I took it in, they said that it was the ignition switch. Also transmission makes a very loud noise when attempting to take off at times. It sounds like an engine fan that will not go off. There is a major lost of power when this problem is occuring. I bought this car as a program car, with @ 11, 000 miles on it already. I've had problems with it from day one. I have only had it a few months. I am extremely irritated with this engine problem. This is extremely unsafe. Dt.
