Passenger front seat belt locks automatically as soon as you buckle up. It will not unlock, the only way to fix it is to unbuckle and re buckle then it locks again. Very uncomfortable to ride in the front passenger seat.

I just want to add to my recent complaint made December 2021 file number 11444000 when our left side brake failed to disengage completely causing the vehicle to vear left into 2 traffic light poles. Recently have the front end rebuilt and noticed the seat belts needs to be replaced or rebuilt but the passenger side belt is retracted so hard I cant get it off the seat, it is crushing the seat basically and I see other complaints of this happening and almost suffocating the passenger. I was lucky my wife was not with or the belt would have pinned her in, the driver belt is stuck as it was when I removed it.

I was in an accident and hit on broadside on the passenger side and driver front corner. The air bags did not go off. They say service soon. The seat belt hurt me as well. It did not lock. I was injured with a torn labrum, back and neck injuries. Head too. I was moving and I was hit on the drivers side and then pushed into another car. I was on a city street. 14 mile near mount 7-22.
On highway us-31 in muskegon county michigan, vehicle (envoy) was at almost a complete stop for a vehicle stopped ahead when struck from behind by another vehicle travelling at 70+ mph. The Envoy was then pushed into the vehicle in front of the Envoy. The Envoy suffered major rear end damage and severe front end damage. None of the front airbags deployed. Both front driver and passenger seatbelts did not restrain. The seatbelts stretched out to their limit. Both front driver's seat and passenger seat twisted inwards toward the console. Severe bodily injuries occurred. On 08/23/2018, GMC was made aware of this. A case was opened. The event data recorder was recovered by GMC. The edr showed the impact velocity, non-deployment of airbags and non-restraint of seatbelts. GMC then closed the case stating that because there was no traumatic brain injury, there would be no further investigation or compensation. The 2006 GMC Envoy was deemed a total loss by the auto insurer.

My accident was may 25th 2018, my back passenger went off of a soft shoulder throwing me into 2 trees, I hit first one and seatbelt came apart but still over one shoulder hitting second tree and only thing that saved me was my right foot was under the brake and not on it, I hit my head on windshield causing me to have vision problems, severe whiplash, and rsd in right leg, I have to have cane, walker, or powerchair, my husband wants a divorce bc of my depression, my kids get fustrasted bc I forget I said something and I continue to repeatedly say thing, I never had none of this wrong with me till this accident and monique hill in claims says none of my injuries nor my family problems have nothing to do with general motors and I didn't hit sensors, I never had a seatbelt on but if that was the case that ding sound wouldn't have stopped! my life has completely changed and I'm losing my family bc of a accident.
1: passenger seat belt likes to suffocate my passengers until they release rhe seat belt and rebuckle. 2: both dim headlights went out, checked relays, fuses, and bulbs nothing has worked. Then found out my 2 brake lights are out along with the dims and not sure what is causing this problem.
Passenger seat belt will not come undone.

Passenger front seat belt does not work properly after attaching to proper seat connector seat belt locks up and no forward movement is allowed in non emergency situations. Seat belt must be detached as it is in a locked position. Upon unlocking belt returns to normal action. Belt must be reconnected and positioning must be retried sometimes requiring disconnection yey again. Belt was replaced at owners cost. Replacement belt has the same issues but not as frequently as original belt. Total cost to owner approx. 500. 00 and not much improvement if any. I feel this can be a safety concern issue. Vehicle can be stationary or moving makes no difference.

I bought the vehicle in March of 2012. The passenger seat belt will not work and I use them for car seats now which places my lil ones at risk since they may not be properly fastened in because this seat belt should function. Also my back hatchback door doesn't latch properly unless I slam it down hard. If I don't gate ajar light comes on and I hear it loose. The latch system has fallen apart due to the slamming. Window part also does this so I don't use it. I can't believe there are no recalls to fix these safety hazards.

Side air bags deployed in 2005 Envoy slt xl while driving down highway on four lane road. The car hit a small pot hole in the highway and they deployed. I called state trooper and he couldn't understand why they deployed either. I made a traffic report and carried it to dealership. They contacted gmac and they decline to get involved and said it was a accident. There is no damage to vehicle or wheels on truck. The front seatbelts stuck also. I was not going more then 45 miles per hour. There was a traffic light coming up and I slowed for it.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Envoy. While driving 35 mph, the contact rear ended another vehicle. His vehicle was destroyed. The air bags failed to deploy and the seat belts did not retract for both occupants seated in the front. The contact and the passenger struck the steering wheel with their chests and shoulders. Both were severely injured. The contact, passenger, and other driver were transported to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop and is awaiting an investigation. I traded my 2005 Ford focus 26410 miles to wade raulerson GMC on October 3, 2007 wrote two checks in the amount of 500. 00 each that they held for four weeks for a down payment. We looked at a 2004 GMC Envoy with 65,000 miles the salesman quoted us a price of 17,000 so we did the paper work the first time on the 16th we were called in again and told we had to sign more documents this time the price of the Envoy rose to 21698. 35, I asked about my 05 focus was told it sold the next day and we had to have gap protection. Payoff on my car was 12,502. 95 and it looked as if they were giving me 14900. 00 but raised the price of the truck by 4000. 00. Bad deal to begin with. The problems began. I had to return it at the end of the month in October 2007 to have the headlights, seatbelt, and motor in the window replaced, and diagnosed to find why the service engine light will not go out. Two weeks later stranded at the daycare I had to buy a new battery. On 05/05/2008 the conditioner went out. I paid the dealership over 100. 00 to tell me it would be an additional 600. 00 plus dollars to repair the mode actuator door motor. October 17, 2008 I spent 375. 02 to have both the shift control cable and gear shift lever removed and replaced. Thank god I was actually on a parking lot when the cable broke and not in traffic. Contacting wade raulerson GMC has been useless I have practically been told you bought the "lemon" as-is now it's your troubles! there should be a law against this type of business and not just for new cars. Now no-one will touch it because of the problems it is having and the large amount that's now owed. Every time the VIN is pulled I get pushed out of the door faster than I can blink. Btw the service engine light is still on and has been since I left the dealership. I?m tired of honest hard-working people being raked over the coals by unscrupulous dealers while they get protected by the "as-is" rule then laugh all the way to the bank.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. He stated that the passenger side seat belts would not retract. The dealer stated that a defective retractor could have caused the failure however; they did not inspect the vehicle. There is a recall for the seat belts (NHTSA campaign id #04v201000) however; the dealer stated that his VIN was not included. As of June 24, 2008, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 80,000.
The contact owned a 2003 GMC Envoy xl. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch. While driving out of the ditch, she struck a large culvert and the vehicle went airborne. The vehicle rolled several before finally coming to a stop. The passenger side seat belt snapped, which caused the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle and killed between the second or third rollover. None of the air bags deployed. The driver was hospitalized and remains in serious condition. There has been no explanation as to what caused the passenger side seat belt to fail and the air bags to not deploy. The vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. The failure mileage was 108,000. Added information 10. 27/08 updated 10/27/08.
Single car accident with car running off road ran into ditch, overturned and hitting phone pole. Airbag did not deploy. Questionable seat belt issues.
Entering straight stretch of 2 lane hwy. ,I swerved to miss object in my lane and part of adjacent lane. I could not straighten up vehicle. The vehicle rolled and struck a tree. The engine was off and the air bags did not inflate. My door was damaged and had to be cut off to free myself. The Envoy was totaled. My wife's harness did not hold and she was facing the rear between the front seats. The side air bags and front air bags did not work. The vehicle was well maintained with new tires and brakes. I was life flighted, and my wife was carried by ambulance to the hospital where we sustained multiple injuries.
Right after purchasing. Engine light has been on. Purchased in June/2006, with 40,000miles. 1yr after the rpm gauge quit working, right afterwards, the fuel gauge started messing up, going back & forth, then went out completely, battery/oil gauges are out now. The seat belt lights/airbag lights bing constantly & does not tighten up when put on brakes. When this happens the check gauges light comes on, and at the same time I have difficulty getting it in gear. I am also having trouble setting my cruise control.
I totaled my 2004 GMC Envoy on black ice, I hit my neighbor pretty much head on. My air bag did not go off nor did my seat belt hold my in place, I reported this accident and dysfunction to gm and after their investigation they said the vehicle functioned properly. I don't understand how this could be, we bought the Envoy new the air bag should have deployed as well as the seat belt should have locked me in place, as it was I hit the wind shield, had swelling in my brain, I also hit the top of the Envoy and came down and have two crushed vertebrae in my back still to this day, I hit the drivers door and then broke the steering column and the center console with my body, again because the air bag did not go off nor did the seat belt hold me in place. I can not understand how they (gm) can say everything functioned correctly!.
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Envoy. While driving 19 mph, another vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. She stated that the driver side seat belt did not restrain her during the crash. The driver sustained a concussion, whiplash, and multiple contusions. The manufacturer inspected the vehicle, but were unable to determine the cause of failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The VIN and engine size were unknown. The failure and current mileages were 29,000.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle it will randomly jump from 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive without warning causing the car to become idle and you must turn the car off completely. She took the vehicle into a local mechanic where he replaced the brakes and checked the wheels and stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. She is also experiencing problems with the front passenger seat belt it locks when fastened. She took the car to the dealer and they informed her that it was no longer covered under warranty and any repairs made would be at the owner's expense. The vehicle is also experiencing exterior light failure, both headlights burned out within weeks apart and they were replaced at owner's expense. The failure mileage was 38,000. The current mileage was 86,000 (SC) updated 06/25/08. The consumer also stated when driving past 70 mph, the vehicle would shake. The windshield wipers were replaced. The consumer stated the motor failed. Updated 06/25/08.
The contact owns a 2002 GMC Envoy xl. The contact stated that he has been experiencing the same failures as noted in recall # 03v096000 (electrical system: wiring: interior/under dash). He has taken the vehicle to the dealer, but the failure still persists. The contact stated that the seat belts continue to lock and the windshield wipers are malfunctioning. The wipers have been replaced numerous times and the failure causes limited visibility in certain weather conditions. The suspension for the arms of the ball joints was replaced and the vehicle continues to shake, shimmer, and make a loud noise. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures are ongoing. When turning, the steering wheel hesitates and causes the vehicle to jerk uncontrollably. When the windows are down, the interior lights dim due to an electrical short. The tires were changed four times, but continued to fail. The contact stated that the brakes have been replaced repeatedly. The dealer stated that the discs were failing due to adverse weather conditions. The current mileage is 68,000 and failure mileage was 38,000. Updated 1/15/09 the catalytic converter, the camshaft, and engine coil was replaced. The check engine light is still on. Updated 01/21/09.
Consumer had all of the weather proofing on the vehicle replaced by the dealer as well as the clutch assembly . The fan clutch was replaced, the air bag indicator light came on. The consumer was told that nothing could be done if the light wasn't on at the time. The plastic trim from the seat belt broke, the seat belt failed again, the transmission would drag, the engine light was on and made a grinding noise, the drivers side tire was loosing pressure, the passenger inner door seal leaked, the clock on the radio would reset itself, the drivers side seat belt would lock up when the brakes were applied they would skid and pull to the right.
Faulty driver side seat belt that will not release to fasten. I have taken the car in and the repair person said that there was nothing wrong, and that it just was catching on something. Also, the passenger side door behind the drivers seat was very hard to open the repair person at the same dealership broke the handle trying to open the door. The repair shop did fix the handle for free, however the door remains still very hard to open and I would not use this particular door. After a while the door would not close and the door latch had to be replaced at my expense. The back window would not go all the way up and the actuator had to be replaced also. I am not sure what month the first incidence took place, but everything seemed to happen quickly afterwards.
2003 GMC Envoy with a list of problems ** the consumer began to hear a knocking and pinging in the engine on cold starts and felt a hesitation when the automatic transmission shifted into gear. After many complaints, it was finally discovered the engine knock was due to shorter pistons in the re-designed engine and the hesitation in the transmission shifting required reprogramming. The consumer was told he would have to live with the engine knock, because it could be more trouble taking the engine apart. On a separate occasion, the engine stalled due to the battery dying. From April 2004 to October 2004 the battery failed several times and had to be re-charged. During that same time the engine light illuminated and each time it happened, the dealer would have to reprogram the engine computer. The radio was not functioning properly which primarily consisted of static. The driver information center control knobs as well as the radio knobs wore out. The front center console was loose. It was discovered that the engine light was coming on because the third stop light that's on the top of the liftgate malfunctioned. There was a short circuit in the stop light. The cooling fan broke, the brakes and the left front head lamp had to be replaced. The rear tail lights, directional and signal lights have been replaced several times. The lug nut broke while a replacement tire was being mounted on the vehicle. The front stabilizer linkage was replaced. The gas tank had to be replaced along with the fuel lines and a seal on the tank due to a leak. The seat belt was designed poorly and the belt cuts into the consumers neck. The drivers side door didn't close properly, the windshield wipers were replaced within the first 2 years.
Rear lap/shoulder belt behind the passenger's seat was installed backwards, which would not properly fit child saftey seat when being used by consumer. Dealership has not examined vehicle. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
