1/17/09 GMC Envoy 2003 I made a sharp u-turn in a snowy yard while vehicle was in traction assist. Then I pulled into the driveway and parked, turned off the vehicle and went in the house. I was in there approximately 30 minutes then got back in the vehicle to leave and the power steering was gone. Excessively stiff. I pulled forward got out, looked at the ground and there was a puddle of bluish liquid located near where the left front side of the vehicle was sitting.

39 Steering problem of the 2005 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/18/2008

Power steering hose ruptured on my wife's 2005 GMC Envoy thankfully just as she was entering our driveway. I feel this is a defect in the hose assembly as the vehicle only has 48,000 mi on it and in 40+ years of driving have never had this happen. If this had happened on the roadway I believe it may have caused a serious accident as it resulted in almost total loss of steering control. The dealer was excellent with the repair, but gm was unwilling to acknowledge the defect. I find it strange that the 06 mdl year had power steering hose problems and a recall but this mdl year was not included,as it burst in the exact way described in the recall. I feel this needs investigating as the vehicle was purchased June 2005 and the recall was dated oct 2005.

I filed a complaint on October 19. 10140380. I reported 2 rollover cases with 2 similar cars within 3 month in my family. I found out now that both cars had steering recalls which we have not been aware of. Does that mean anything to anybody or does the severe injuries of my wife and daughter mean nothing since they are not dead? I called your agency and was told that I have to wait. Ok . I have the car in my home and wait.

44 Steering problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/19/2005

2002 Chevrolet trail blazer on July 18 at about 9:00 am my daughter entered route 3 going east coming from route 601. About 3 miles down the road at a speed of about 45 mph she believed that a animal was running across the street were she tried to avoid a hit. She then reported that the car became unstable and was not controllable at all. She also reported that the car would not brake and she could do nothing she said the car drove like on "ice". The car rolled over and landed in the right side of the road in a ditch. We thought ok an accident. Insurance took care of it. Yesterday October 19 at the nearly same place. 2 miles down on route 3 going east with an 2002 GMC Envoy my wife was driving behind a slow moving car and she wanted to pass when she saw a car in the left lane coming fast and she decided to stay in her lane. By doing so the car became unstable she couldn't steer or brake and as she recalled it, the car went to the right rolled over 4 times the roof was pushed in towards the driver seat that when she was taller she would be dead by now. Her luck was that she is a short korean women. Since I don't believe in coincidence 2 similar cars within 3 month with the same or identical problem I hope somebody will look into that. I will contact gm about this. By the way the airbags in both cases didn't happen. I have pictures from the street and found strange marks going towards the Dodge and a mechanical mark on the road going from the street into the ditch. There are no brake marks at all. Inside the car is a black beam with about 18 or 20 bolts which I believe is the towing bar from the front of the car. The bolts are all totally ok but there is no marking at the threads at all. Not one nut to see. I took pictures of the strange tire marks and stretches on the road the ditch and the car. I called the insurance and asked them for an investigation. The car will not be touched or brought away at that time.

He has taken the vehicle to the dealer, but the failure still persists. The contact stated that the seat belts continue to lock and the windshield wipers are malfunctioning. The wipers have been replaced numerous times and the failure causes limited visibility in certain weather conditions. The suspension for the arms of the ball joints was replaced and the vehicle continues to shake, shimmer, and make a loud noise. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures are ongoing. When turning, the steering wheel hesitates and causes the vehicle to jerk uncontrollably. When the windows are down, the interior lights dim due to an electrical short. The tires were changed four times, but continued to fail. The contact stated that the brakes have been replaced repeatedly. The dealer stated that the discs were failing due to adverse weather conditions. The current mileage is 68,000 and failure mileage was 38,000. Failure Date: 11/10/2003

My wife was driving around 35 mph during a clear day when suddenly the steering wheel of our 2003 GMC Envoy started wobbling and she couldn't control it anymore. She stepped on the brakes but the vehicle wouldn't stop. The vehicle went over the curb and initially hit a utility pole on the left passenger side, then eventually hit the tree with the front bumper and knocked the two stationary objects down. Surprisingly, the airbag didn't even deploy. The insurance company declared the vehicle total wrecked and unrepairable. As expected, GMC declined responsibilities. They sent a so called independent investigator but they wouldn't give me his phone number. The report they sent contained only raw data about the airbag and nothing about the steering wheel. I will never buy or recommend a GMC again.
