My 1998 GMC Jimmy has the passlock system. It has on several occasions left me stranded because of the security system thinking I'm stealing my own car. This is very frustrating and should be taken care of by the manufacturer.

Passlock system is triggered very easily, causing vehicle to shut down for 10 minutes. There is no override button when vehicle shuts down which in event of emergency consumer cannot start vehicle. Passlock system has failed again but the dealer does not feel it was safety concern.

The key will not release from the ignition which may potentially cause anti-theft problems. The only way the key can be removed is to take the vehicle to a repair shop.
